Jameis Winston Sexual Assault Case Gets Ugly: Detective Told Accuser's Attorney Tallahassee

Jameis Winston, the Heisman Trophy candidate and quarterback of undefeated Florida State, is embroiled in a messy, strange alleged sexual assault case that is about to get really ugly. Although the incident happened a year ago, details have been trickling out for a week, and the Tampa Bay Times just dropped a bombshell:
A Tallahassee detective told an accuser’s attorney that Tallahassee is a “big football town” and her client’s life could “be made miserable” if she pursued a sexual assault case against Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston
Winston hasn’t been charged with anything. Nor has he been arrested.
Two months after the Dec. 7, 2012 incident, the woman (an FSU student) identified Winston – at the time, redshirting on the football team – as the suspect. The Times claims that in January of 2013, the woman reached out to an attorney friend, who spoke to Tallahassee detective Scott Angulo.
Detective Angulo told the attorney that Tallahassee was a big football town and the victim needs to think long and hard before proceeding against him because she will be raked over the coals and her life will be made miserable
The family also said that Angulo refused to collect Winston’s DNA or interview his roommate, a possible witness in the case, because doing so would alert Winston and allow the case to go public.

The Times raises an excellent point: When the alleged victim identified Winston in January, why wasn’t he listed as a possible suspect in the police report? Angulo is going to come under heavy scrutiny immediately, and a quick google search turns up this link. Everyone will want to know if Angulo went to Florida State, and that will come out eventually.
