Charlie Strong is "Not a Hip-Hop Coach," Says ESPN's Lou Holtz

By Jason Lisk

Charlie Strong was just announced as the new Texas Longhorns coach, but don’t worry, Texas, you are not getting a hip hop coach. The Dallas Morning News ran an article about things you might not know about new Texas football coach Charlie Strong. The Morning News certainly built on this by tweeting this headline: “Why he’s [Charlie Strong] not a hip hop coach.

The quote actually comes from Lou Holtz, who mentored Strong at both South Carolina and Notre Dame. “He’s great with players … but he’s not a hip-hop coach. He really, truly could have coached for (Ohio State’s old-school taskmaster) Woody Hayes with no problem whatsoever.”

Of course, now I’m wondering what came before those ellipses. Yada, yada, yada.
