Celtic Advances to Champions League; Last-Second Goal Nearly Causes Announcers to Have Heart Attacks

Celtic advanced to the Champions League proper by staging a dramatic 3-2 victory over goat-sacrificing Kazakh club Shakhter Karagandy. James Forrest had the late winner in stoppage time set up by a great run by Anthony Stokes, which sent Celtic Park and the British ITV broadcasters into pandemonium.

Shakhter Karagandy won the first leg at home last week 2-0, drawing the ire of PETA for new of its traditional goat-killing custom. The Scottish club didn’t allow an animal sacrifice Wednesday, so obviously that’s why Karagandy lost.

As much as we love an underdog story, it’s good to see Celtic make the final draw which will take place Thursday. There really does seem to be something special about night games at Parkhead that crackles through your viewing screen.
