Butch Davis Has Been Fired by North Carolina

The timing is absolutely bizarre. Why wait until after ACC media days? Why pull the trigger on this one month before the season? Why wasn’t this done months ago, when you had the opportunity (like after the parking ticket scandal blew up)? Hell, I thought Davis was gone last August after the agent business and the academic infractions were first exposed.
Davis probably thought he was in the clear – it sure looked that way last month when the NCAA report was released – but I guess the Chancellor decided it was time Davis needed to go.
