Sidney Crosby set a franchise record Sunday when the Penguins defeated the Montreal Canadiens in a shootout, 4-3. ‘The Kid’ recorded his 1,724 career points, which surpasses the Pittsburgh record previously held by Mario Lemieux.
The Canada star has posted six seasons in his legendary career where he has recorded over 100 points for the Penguins. In 2025, he’s already got seven goals and seven assists in his 10 appearances for the team.
Lemeiux’s impressive NHL career saw him get inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997, and Crosby is surely on his way to cementing his place in the history books.
Hockey fans will be looking to see if Sidney Crosby will appear in the Winter Olympics for one final time when Team Canada heads to Italy. The 2026 edition marks the first Olympics in 12 years where NHL players are allowed to compete on the ice.
Canada is still riding high after beating Team USA in the NHL Four Nations tournament held this year, which created a great environment for the international rivalry.
