Mike Evans suffered a painful injury during the San Francisco 49ers game against the Arizona Cardinals. He took a big shot from safety Budda Baker after making a catch in the second quarter.
While he may have been injured on that play, Evans remained in the game for a few more snaps. Then, after running a route on which no one made any contact with him, he needed help off the field and appeared to be in great discomfort. He dropped to a knee and eventually left the field on a cart to get checked out in the locker room.
Evans has been ruled out with a rib injury.

The veteran receiver exited the game with three receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown. He had come into it with nine catches for 103 yards and a score over his two games with San Francisco after playing the first 12 years of his career for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Evans also left the Week 2 contest with a hip injury. He was questionable all week and only practiced once before the team announced he would play on Sunday.

The electrical substation conspiracy theory is just that, but the rash of injuries this season sure does make it look like the team is cursed. Evans now has rib and hip issues to deal with just three weeks into the season.
The 49ers’ next game is at home against the Denver Broncos. Whether Evans will be available for it remains to be seen.
