College fantasy football rankings for Week 2: QB, RB, WR, TE and FLEX

Need help setting your Week 2 lineup? Here are my college fantasy football rankings for FLEX, QB, RB, WR, TE, team offense and team defense.

Week 2 brings the first meaningful test for many teams of the college fantasy football season. One game can reveal a new role, but it can also create noise that sends managers chasing last week’s points. These rankings, listed by position at the bottom of the article, balance talent, workload and matchup with the scoring environment around each player. That produces several aggressive calls near the top and pushes a few familiar stars lower than usual. The tables cover FLEX, quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, team offense and team defense.

FLEX rankings outlook

3. RB Kewan Lacy | Ole Miss Rebels — Mississippi Rebels running back Kewan Lacy (5) reacts with a belt after defeating the Florida Gators at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

These Week 2 college football FLEX rankings lean heavily toward running backs with secure volume and players attached to high-scoring teams. Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy holds the top spot, followed by Florida’s Jadan Baugh and West Virginia’s Cam Cook.

Houston wide receiver Amare Thomas breaks up the running backs at No. 4, while Indiana receivers Nick Marsh and Charlie Becker both land inside the top 11. The most noticeable superstar slide belongs to Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith, who sits 23rd overall because the Buckeyes face Texas in a game with a modest projected total.

Texas receiver Cam Coleman is also down at No. 34. LSU tight end Trey’Dez Green ranks 32nd and is the only tight end inside the top 50.

QB outlook

Utah Utes quarterback Devon Dampier (4) throws a pass during the first half against the Kansas Jayhawks.

The Week 2 college football quarterback rankings reward favorable scoring environments without ignoring rushing upside. Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss leads the group, followed by Utah’s Devon Dampier, LSU’s Sam Leavitt and Houston’s Conner Weigman. Indiana’s Josh Hoover rounds out the top five.

Arch Manning is the biggest name near the top, but he lands seventh because Texas carries a relatively low expected total against Ohio State. The same matchup sends Ohio State’s Julian Sayin all the way to No. 37.

Bryce Underwood sits 50th with Michigan projected for a quiet afternoon against Oklahoma. Dual-threat options such as Demond Williams Jr. and Kamario Taylor remain strong because they can score without relying entirely on passing touchdowns.

RB outlook

NCAA Football: Coastal Carolina at West Virginia — West Virginia Mountaineers running back Cam Cook (4) runs the ball during the fourth quarter against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

The Week 2 college football running back rankings begin with Kewan Lacy, whose combination of workload and an enormous Ole Miss team total makes him the safest option. Jadan Baugh follows at No. 2 as Florida draws Campbell, while West Virginia’s Cam Cook earns an aggressive No. 3 ranking despite playing for a less prominent offense.

Houston’s favorable outlook pushes Makhi Hughes to ninth. The rankings remain cautious with backs in difficult scoring spots. Ohio State’s Bo Jackson ranks 18th at Texas, Michigan’s Jordan Marshall is 25th against Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State’s Caleb Hawkins falls to 61st against Oregon.

Those are still talented runners, but low projected team totals reduce their touchdown chances. Volume keeps them relevant, though their Week 2 ceilings are less appealing than those of backs attached to heavy favorites.

WR outlook

NCAA Football: Oregon State at Houston — Houston Cougars wide receiver Amare Thomas (0) signals after a first down during the first quarter against the Oregon State Beavers.

The Week 2 college football wide receiver rankings feature two less obvious teams at the top. Houston’s Amare Thomas ranks first, followed by Indiana teammates Nick Marsh and Charlie Becker. Their placement reflects two of the slate’s highest team totals.

Ole Miss receiver Deuce Alexander is fourth, while Miami’s Malachi Toney and Baylor’s Gavin Freeman complete the top six. The biggest surprise is Jeremiah Smith at No. 12. He remains an elite college football talent, but Ohio State’s low expected total at Texas creates more risk than usual.

Texas star Cam Coleman faces the same problem at No. 16. Florida’s Dallas Wilson is only 26th despite an outstanding matchup, suggesting his role and target competition matter more than the team environment alone in these rankings.

MORE: Pete Thamel reveals likely fate of LSU as SEC prepares expulsion vote

TE outlook

LSU Tigers tight end Trey’Dez Green (14) runs the ball during the second half against the Houston Cougars at NRG Stadium.

The Week 2 college football tight end rankings start with LSU’s Trey’Dez Green, who also stands well above the position in the FLEX table. Oregon’s Jamari Johnson and Texas Tech’s Terrance Carter Jr. follow him, giving three different offensive environments representation at the top.

Houston’s Patrick Overmyer rises to fourth because his team owns one of the week’s highest projected totals. SMU’s Randy Pittman Jr., Penn State’s Benjamin Brahmer and Louisville’s Jaleel Skinner fill out the next three spots.

Caleb Odom ranks 10th even with Ole Miss projected to score heavily, while Georgia’s Jaden Reddell sits 19th despite another favorable college football matchup. Those lower placements show that team scoring potential helps, but it cannot fully erase uncertain target volume at fantasy’s most unpredictable position.

Team offense outlook

NCAA Football: Florida Atlantic at Florida — Florida Gators quarterback Aaron Philo (12) throws the ball under pressure from Florida Atlantic Owls defensive back Derrick Rogers (3).

Indiana, Florida, Houston and Ole Miss lead the Week 2 college football team offense rankings as the four highest-scoring units among the featured teams. Miami ranks fifth, followed by Notre Dame.

Virginia at No. 7, TCU at No. 9 and West Virginia at No. 10 are the notable risers over more recognizable programs. Georgia sits 12th, LSU is 15th, and USC is 16th.

Oregon falls to 26th, Penn State ranks 29th, and Alabama is 40th. The biggest-name matchup lands near the bottom, with Texas 51st and Ohio State 54th. These rankings emphasize expected Week 2 production rather than long-term offensive reputation.

Team defense outlook

Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore, top, tackles Wisconsin running back Abu Sama (3) during the first half of a NCAA football — Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore, top, tackles Wisconsin running back Abu Sama (3).

The Week 2 college football team defense rankings favor units facing overmatched opponents with low implied totals. Notre Dame ranks first against Rice, followed by Indiana against Howard and Georgia against Western Kentucky.

Ole Miss and LSU round out the top five, while Texas Tech lands sixth for its matchup with Oregon State. Virginia sits 17th despite Norfolk State carrying one of the lowest expected totals, showing that the original defensive baseline still matters.

Brand-name defenses in difficult games fall further, including Alabama at No. 18, Ohio State at No. 23 and Texas at No. 24. Oklahoma State ranks 64th against Oregon, while UCF closes the rankings at No. 65.
