Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom disrupted a WNBA game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky over the weekend, stepping over the baseline and getting into an argument with Sky guard Natasha Cloud before he was ejected from the arena.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Kanter Freedom has been banned from Wintrust Arena by the Sky because of the stunt he pulled.

Kanter Freedom is not allowed back in the arena “unless sometime in the future, he’s able to prove to us that he’s able to abide by our rules without being a potential threat.”

Sky owner Michael Alter spoke to the media and said, “He has demonstrated to us, unequivocally, that he has the potential to be a threat.”

The incident happened on Sunday night during the third quarter of the Fever-Sky game.

According to ESPN.com, “one source said Kanter Freedom had been making comments toward Cloud throughout the game, though a fan wearing a gold Caitlin Clark Fever shirt sitting near Kanter said he only cheered during the game.”

Kanter was wearing a black T-shirt that read: “WOMAN noun. adult human female.”

Kanter Freedom has been antagonizing the league and its players on social media since joining the public discourse about transgender athletes in women’s sports. He claims to now “identify as a woman,” and publicly “declared” for the WNBA draft.

Of course, Kanter Freedom is not eligible for the WNBA Draft, and the league has made that clear.

The WNBA has said that Kanter Freedom’s antics are “simply publicity stunts” and that the league is “not going to give oxygen to efforts designed to mock the league or use this topic to demean and marginalize others.”

The WNBA adds it “will not allow outside pressure or manufactured controversy to dictate league processes.”
