The Chicago Bears received a potentially encouraging development ahead of their matchup in Santa Clara as right tackle Darnell Wright is en route to join the team.

Wright did not travel with the Bears on Saturday due to an illness, raising uncertainty about his status heading into game day. But here is a new update from the reporter Brad Biggs.

Wright is officially listed as questionable, and his availability will be determined closer to kickoff. While the Bears remain cautious, Wright’s making the trip is a meaningful sign after he was initially left behind while recovering.

The second-year tackle has been a critical piece of Chicago’s offensive line and is coming off what many around the league consider a Pro Bowl-caliber season. His presence has been vital in stabilizing the right side of the line, particularly in pass protection against elite edge rushers.

Darnell Wright has been a pillar of consistency on the Bears’ offensive line since being selected 10th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, starting every game he has appeared in during his NFL career. During the 2025 season, Wright handled a heavy workload and delivered strong results in pass protection.

According to Pro Football Focus, he has logged 953 offensive snaps, which ranks 13th among NFL tackles, and has allowed only two sacks, placing him 16th out of 82 tackles tracked. While he has been flagged 11 times for penalties, an area that still needs refinement, his overall performance has played a major role in stabilizing Chicago’s offensive front this season.

If Wright is able to play, it would be a notable boost for a Bears offense preparing for a challenging road environment. If not, Chicago will again have to rely on depth along the offensive front in a game where protection will be under the spotlight.

For now, all eyes remain on Wright’s status as the Bears await a final decision closer to kickoff.
