NFL reporter Ari Meirov noted that three teams didn’t produce a single Pro Bowler this season: the New York Jets (3-12), the Minnesota Vikings (7-8) and the New Orleans Saints (5-10).
New York has had a tumultuous season, and some of their best players (Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys) left ahead of the trade deadline, while star wide receiver Garrett Wilson’s season ended last week due to a knee injury.
The Vikings have been more consistent than the other two teams, but they aren’t in playoff contention, either. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy struggled to get going, which affected wide receiver Justin Jefferson’s performance. “Jet” is always a strong candidate to participate in the Pro Bowl Games.
As for the New Orleans Saints, they have been inconsistent, too. They are heating up in the last three weeks, winning three straight games, but those performances weren’t enough to take their players to the pre-Super Bowl event.
All these teams have had bright spots during the season, but fans focused on other players for this year’s event.
