Sports Media and Athlete Fights We Want to See in Revamped Celebrity Deathmatch

MTV is teaming with Ice Cube to bring ‘Celebrity Deathmatch’ back. With so many matches to be made, here are the ones we want to see involving athletes and members of sports media.

Just to be clear, we are only condoning violence and ripping of body parts when it is in the Celebrity Deathmatch ring and involves clay figures.

Tom Brady vs. Max Kellerman

In this one, Tom Brady gets out to an early lead, but suddenly something bad happens. Hint: they are fighting on a cliff.

Kellerman wins.

Russell Westbrook vs. Patrick Beverley

Based on their history, this one could actually take place on the court in the coming years. But in this ring, it is not hard to imagine Beverley ripping of Westbrook’s body parts, and Westbrook adjusting to a fight with one leg.

Mike Francesa vs. Matthew Berry

Mike Francesa invented daily fantasy sports and Matthew Berry may have actually invented fantasy football. What is great here is, no matter the outcome, Mike will claim he won and it will be another great moment of New York radio.

Big Cat vs. Lance Armstrong

The challenge has been laid down for this one between the real Big Cat and real Lance Armstrong.

In the clay world, Big Cat’s back is fixed, but twenty pounds heavier. He is able to win the match for his boss and podcast co-host A-Rod but may have to sacrifice his signature mustache being ripped off.

Peyton Manning vs. Andrew Luck

I mean, he took the guy’s job? And it goes without saying an animated Peyton Manning ripping of Andrew Luck’s neckbeard would be rather fun.

More fights on the next page:

Jon Gruden vs. the NFC

Thanks to Mr. Gruden, the Cowboys and Bears are legit Super Bowl contenders What better way to get even than 14 teams, owners, and their fans making sure clay-Gruden cannot make any more deals?

Jim Harbaugh vs. Urban Meyer

We know who would win this one on the football field, but in the Celebrity Deathmatch ring, we don’t know. But as long as Harbaugh has his steak and milk and doesn’t put on any wrestling gear on to disrupt his khakis, he is the projected winner.

Dave Portnoy vs. Michael Rapaport

As Portnoy said on my podcast, Rapaport told him he was going to beat him up in the streets. That plays well for this showdown, and having promos cut in their beds through Periscope could lead to this being main event worthy.

El Pres vs. The King of Trash Talk taking place in a clay courtroom (by Rapaport’s wishes). Who ya got?

LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan

If they start punching with their rings, and they will, this one will not last long.

Kyrie Irving and Steph Curry vs. History

Uh oh, this may get ugly.

Colin Cowherd and Hue Jackson vs. Baker Mayfield

There will be no hugging in this 2-on-1 handicap match, it will be straight manalytics. Can Baker Mayfield prove himself in that category?

Adam Schefter vs. Ian Rapoport

There is no beef between the two NFL insiders, but not having them face off would be nothing short of a missed opportunity. What is better than two smart people smashing each other with their cell phone(s)?

Tom Brady vs. Roger Goodell

Speaking of cell phones …

Clay Travis vs. John Skipper

John Skipper has many critics, but none more so than Clay Travis. Clay could be paired with several people in the ring, but he and Skipper could go down as one of the greatest Celebrity Deathmatches of all-time. Creating this one would not take too long either. Just pull audio from Clay’s Periscope to voice the clay Clay, and we are off and running.

Aaron Rodgers vs. Mike McCarthy

If this is anything like a WWE match, there are going to be problems. They will never be able to agree on who calls the moves, who wins, and how it happens. With that said, McCarthy loses after getting conservative late and misusing the clock.

Skip Bayless vs. Will Cain

The battle of which Cowboy fan gets under Stephen A.’s skin worse. Will has the height and reach advantage, but:

vs …

Will wins, right?

Stephen A. Smith vs. Kevin Durant

Oh boy. This one has to happen! In animation, that promo Stephen A. dropped on Durant does not result in millions of video views, it becomes a fight. Who really is a fake tough guy?

Stephen A. wins.

Kevin Durant vs. Draymond Green

We got close to seeing these two battle it out on the court. The petty, thin-skinned Kevin Durant is tailor-made for a character on Celebrity Deathmatch and would be demoralized by the crowd chanting mean things to him. As for Draymond Green, a low blow giving Durant his second loss of the night seems reasonable, right?

Dan Le Batard vs. Stugotz

Make no mistake about it, Le Batard’s name is on the show, but the rising popularity of Stugotz is bothering him deeply. The good thing for him, as long as the show version of Stugotz is anything like Stugotz …

Anyone want to take over Weekend Observations?

Tiger Woods vs. Phil Mickelson

As long as we don’t have to pay and experience technical difficulties, who says no?

LeBron James vs. Dan Gilbert

Does this one really need an explanation? The letter as a weapon? Hmm.
