Jurgen Klinsmann Suspended for Sunday's Gold Cup Final vs. Panama

Jurgen Klinsmann was suspended by a CONCACAF Disciplinary Committee late Friday night and as a result will not be allowed on the touchline for Sunday’s Gold Cup final when the United States takes on Panama at Soldier Field. The German-born coach was thrown out in the closing stages of the Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Honduras. Klinsmann threw a ball in a “violent manner,” which the Committee cited as reason for the ban.

In typical CONCACAF fashion, it dragged out the Klinsmann decision all day and finally delivered the news at nearly 11 p.m. on the East Coast.

This does present a perfect opportunity for Klinsmann to revive his Jay Göppingen alias he used to play semi-pro soccer earlier this century in California.
