Kentucky Derby Preview: Rick Pitino Might Win the Kentucky Derby!

The Kentucky Derby has it all this year. Horses, rain, Rick Pitino, a black jockey, a female jockey, a scratch and that dummy up top, Orb the early favorite to win. What more could you want? The 19-horse field will likely race in less-than-ideal conditions which means all of your research and previous results can be thrown out the window.

Goldencents, which is partially owned by Rick Pitino, will be ridden by Kevin Krigger who will attempt to be the first African American to jockey a Kentucky Derby winner. Rosie Napravnik will ride Mylute with hopes of being the first female jockey to win. Those are your main storylines, but I’m sure whatever trainer wins has a sick relative.
