Floyd Mayweather Jr. will put his perfect 43-0 record on the line Saturday night when he takes on Robert Guerrero (31-1-1) in Las Vegas. The significant others of the fighters have been a hot topic this week as Mayweather accused Guerrero of using his wife’s cancer story to gain fans. From Boxing Scene:

“I think trying to gain fans by having a sympathy story every week….I don’t think that’s a good thing, but I’m glad that his wife was able to beat the leukemia. I don’t feel nobody should go through a situation like that, but we all go through certain things. Our mothers, our fathers, our loved ones go through certain things. I just feel like…just to gain fans you are using your wife’s story, you are using a sympathy story,” Mayweather said.

Then came yesterday’s press conference.

Roberto Guerrero’s father and trainer, Ruben Gurrero, went off on Mayweather, calling him out for beating his “wife” (it was his girlfriend, but his point remains) and proclaiming that he doesn’t talk shit. Yahoo! transcribed a portion of the rant.

From there, promoter Oscar De La Hoya jumped in and looked absolutely horrified by the whole thing. The elder Guerrero went on, shouting about how he was ready.
