Manti Te’o, the star Notre Dame linebacker who looked like a Top 15 pick in December, fell completely out of the 1st round of the NFL Draft Thursday night. The Bears, thought to be interested at 20, went with an offensive lineman instead. The Vikings, who wined and dined Te’o heavily leading up to the draft, passed on Te’o at 23 and 25, and then, the coup de grace – the Vikings traded back into the first round at 29 … and took Tennessee receiver Coradelle Patterson.

Late in the first round on the NFL Network, Rich Eisen was beating the Te’o storyline into the ground and admitted, “I know we keep mentioning it and some folks at home might think we’re returning to it a little bit too much …” at which point analyst Mike Mayock – who called Notre Dame games on NBC last season – raised his hand and quickly chimed in, “Some folks at the desk might think that.”
