ESPN Reported Brad Stevens and UCLA Were in Contract Negotiations, Then Yanked it Out of the Story

That’s significant, because Stevens has been coveted by everyone for a couple years now, and to my recollection, has never reached the contract negotiations stage.
But then, about 15 minutes after the story was online, the contract portion was pulled. Below is a screen grab with the timestamp.

This sort of post-publication editing happens all the time, but in a story of this significance, one wonders – did UCLA or Stevens call in to Katz and say that wasn’t true, and to pull it?
