Have to say, that 2005 MSU team is one of my favorites. That senior group finally put something together. that was a fun run. First knocking of Duke, then taking out Kentucky in one of the best regional finals of all-time.

Global Warming has been good for Al Gore
Fixed for accuracy. The earth is 4.65 billion years old, we have 125-150 years of weather data and yet we believe the sky is falling according to these chicken littles such as Gore. It always boils down to one thing…..cash. Who’s making money off of this.
The Earth will adjust, believe me, it hasn’t been around this long due to luck.

As long as Hamas and Hezbollah, the Iranian proxies, have a presence in the region, this will never happen.
March 22nd, 2013 at 8:35 AM
Yes, I know that, the 125-150 is hard data, the rest has been pulled from sediment cores and strata analysis. Still, it’s only going back to 4,000 yrs on a planet that is 4.65 BILLION years old, that’s a small sample size, don’t you agree?

The POTUS doesn’t have the gravity to have an impact in this area. Internationally, he’s seen as a lightweight.
He’s got his hands full domestically – he’ll need more than four years to become competent enough to have a lasting impact overseas.

I actually had a similar conversation with a dad re: 5th grade football. The kid was constantly fucking around. In practice scrimmage one day, he was on defense and got jacked (and injured) by our fullback. What was he doing as the play started? Essentially doing a pirouette and dancing around.

March 22nd, 2013 at 9:36 AM
I don’t agree with this, but I do think he’s seen by the hawks in Israel as a pro-Palestine politician. That in and of itself means he has no shot at getting anything done. But frankly, just as long as they keep their (the Middle East) shit at their front door and not ours, I don’t really care what they do or don’t do. Seeing as how both sides hate each other with their every being, and neither side is going to change in my lifetime, it seems like something I needn’t concern myself with.
March 22nd, 2013 at 9:37 AM

Husker, you make good points (admittedly, I don’t like the POTUS). I add that we are tied on several levels to Israel. When we seem like a strong supporter at some times, and “milquetoast-y” at others, no wonder Israel looks at us warily.
I used “lightweight” due to the fact that our economy is struggling, our education system is trending downward, and our country is divided. Other nations see the U.S. as a diminished leviathan, and the POTUS is the guy on watch.

March 22nd, 2013 at 9:49 AM
I’m pretty sure that most people that are in power in other countries get where the fault lies on most of those problems. Congress wouldn’t agree that the sky was blue if the other side tried to pass a bill stating that. Not saying that POTUS doesn’t deserve blame but majority lies elsewhere with poor Congressional leadership.
March 22nd, 2013 at 9:49 AM
Our economy is struggling, yet it’s better than the rest of the world and picking up steam at a higher rate.
That’s putting it mildly.
He’s certainly not to blame for that. I don’t wanna get into a long debate over that, but let’s just say I would blame others far more.

March 22nd, 2013 at 9:50 AM
No kidding. Fortunately I have a solution that could solve our environmental problems or our health care crisis, and maybe both. We’re going to pass a law that says that if you choose to take the word of Rush Limbaugh over hundreds of thousands of environmental scientists, that’s you’re right – it’s a free country. But if that’s your choice, then we’re going to deny you healthcare from licensed physicians. Because if you choose not to believe in science, then you have no business benefiting from scientific advancement.
Do this and either the climate issue will solve itself, or the burden on the healthcare system will ease considerably as these kooks die off.
March 22nd, 2013 at 9:51 AM

srod, does your air force background give you some insight to how foreigners see Obama/our country? because you’re being pretty confident with your analysis
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:24 AM
If I was Iran I would want the bomb, also what retard actually thinks that one of the most religious (by force) countries in the world would bomb their Holy-land? If Pakistan has nuclear weapons who cares about Iran? North Korea getting nukes would be scary as those motherfuckers are crazy as hell.
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:26 AM
the air force is really connected to the people…nothing moves “hearts and minds” quite like a b52 jamming a bunker buster thru your skylight.
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:28 AM
guys who love military and politics, question: if we went completely isolationist, what would happen?
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:28 AM
Absolutely. If I were leading a country I’d want it as fast as I could get it. The moment you get a nuke you get a seat at the adult table. It would be my first priority if I were a leader.
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:29 AM
you really think they’d ever actually be allowed to get to the point where they have a functional intercontinental ballistic missile? get the fuck out of here.
pakistan is way more dangerous…theyd use the em against india if pushed far enough.
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:30 AM
I’m way more concerned about a terrorist cell getting a mobile nuclear weapon than I am Iran or North Korea getting one. Those countries understand they’ll be annihilated if they fire them. The terrorist doesn’t care.

we’d lose a fuckton of money.
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:32 AM
Vez, there’s a combo of reasons. Mil experience/access to some intel is one source (granted, my intel access is stale now). Some of it is my personal arrogance in this forum (tee-hee). Some of it is just the lessons of time.
Talking to the man on the street in Europe or SWA over the years, you get a sense of the hope that some nations put in the office of our POTUS as a global problem-solver.
Buffs rock, out loud. Ka-boom, mitches.
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:32 AM
exactly…even more concerning given the shoddy quality of russian secruity of storage facilities for weaponized uranium and plutonium.
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:33 AM
And Bangladesh after a cricket loss. Pakistan is a country created by lunatics, for lunatics. Who creates a country where the stated goal is less freedom, more religious persecution? Salman Rushdie’s Shame explains it if you are interested.
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:34 AM
Oh for sure. Just another reason to hate Russia I suppose.

March 22nd, 2013 at 10:34 AM
Yep. As a nation, we’d wither away/implode. We need some level of exchange and cultural interaction with other nations. Can any organism survive extended isolation?
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:37 AM
Just got back from my MRI, left while all the good discussion was going on about this. I DO NOT disagree that we need to change out bad habitats and help the environment, preserves out natural resources, etc.
But we ALWAYS to the go the extreme. It’s always a 180 degree swing of the pendulum, it’s never let’s look at some ideas, try this, see that works, etc. It’s jump in with both feet because that’s our thinking now and damn it, we’re right!
I just wonder about all the people beating the war drums on Global Warming and who’s benefitting from it. Just follow the cash. Seems as though Al Gore has done pretty good for himself, if I’m correct

Complete economic implosion.
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:38 AM
ok, i meant military isolation. stop intervening, worry about ourselves only. we are invasion-proof. would pulling back mean automatic launching of missiles our way? are we really keeping people in check, post-communist spread?
seems like larger threats are terrorists now

They are gonna change in spades. And probably in your lifetime.

if we went completely isolationist
$5 snorg tees would be manufactured in the outskirts of North Carolina, not China.
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:43 AM
Ya know, Vez, based on sequestration some are in conference rooms this very moment asking similar questions (i.e., how much X mission can we do based on current budgetary limits? Where do we cut in the future?).
In the future, do we take on a “self-defense force” model for DoD? Do we continue to take the fight to a perceived enemy with the hope of preventing him doing the same on American soil? I have no idea what the future force shaping looks like.

Yeah that guy who made money from a movie is way worse than ex-congressmen who get 7 figure jobs, or make millions from oil companies providing tax breaks, subsidies, off shore drilling laws, fracking….
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:49 AM
I cracked open a Yuengling Lager. Lots to do today, got a poker game at my house at 6pm tonite, getting my man-cave AKA laundry room LOL, cleaned up and bringing over the 42″ HDTV to the room for the tourney games tonite.

Lol. Yeah, it was just one movie that made money. There are no other governmental kickbacks, green jobs, marketing reps, or anybody else making money off the green movement.
And it’s funny you mention fracking. Speaking of movies, I’m sure you learned a lot from that one slanted movie that everybody else watched… when really we should all be pushing for increased natural gas production and infrastructure that supports it.
March 22nd, 2013 at 11:03 AM

Found this link the other day for a short clip on refuting the claims made in Gasland. I watched Gasland and I understood the filmmaker’s concerns, but I also know there’s an agenda behind the behind his movie.
Look, there needs to be regulation on fracking, they need to keep their due diligence on the whole process and make sure people are not affected, but I also believe there is benefits to this untapped natural gas resource.

Hey shithead, my wife has to work tomorrow which meant that I would be watching the baby tomorrow. Now either the baby has to come to work with me, or I have to find someone last minute to keep my child. Neither are as easy as it sounds, so yes I have a good reason to be a little torqued.

March 22nd, 2013 at 11:44 AM
er faucet, you slags.
March 22nd, 2013 at 11:55 AM
Fuck off!!!
/Yeah, you’re right.
March 22nd, 2013 at 11:57 AM
If it has nothing to do with fracking or natural gas production, and you show it in a movie about how scary fracking is, sans context, people are going to assume fracking caused the flaming faucet. But if the slanted film left out the fact that people have had methane in their water supply for decades, long before fracking was the figment in an engineer’s mind, and folks in Penn., NY, and Colorado have been lighting their water on fire as a parlor trick for as long as they’ve had a match and water well, well then yeah, that movie is a stupid, spurious, and slanted.
Alliteration for the win.
March 22nd, 2013 at 12:02 PM
Hold on — no love for Clevelanders?
March 22nd, 2013 at 12:17 PM
What false equivalency would you like; fracking good for the water table?
March 22nd, 2013 at 12:27 PM
Fracking isnt bad for it, if it’s done properly. Problem is the cowboy oil companies who do stupid shit. Can’t account for those. Doesn’t mean we should shut the process down.
I’m all for regulation and truly stiff penalties. I work for and with oil companies. I’ve seen good companies/people and I’ve seen bad ones. The bad ones should be dealt with appropriately.
