Charles Barkley’s “Analysis” For Syracuse-Montana Was Completely Worthless and Frankly, Embarrassing [Video]
While Harvard was in the midst of upsetting New Mexico late Thursday night, Charles Barkley and the gang were in the studio talking about the Syracuse/Montana game. I tweeted about how worthless Barkley’s “analysis” was, and now here’s video for your enjoyment.
I get the appeal of CBS having Barkley in the studio because he’s a “star,” but Charles, if you’re going to speak in circles about nothing and offer worthless generalities for :35, why not sit up there and crack jokes about Jim Boeheim or the state of Montana or Craig Sager’s bracket tie? Where’s the freelance stuff you excel in? Jeff Goodman was right.

That was the last game last night, right? Chuck had a full day… he was probably just tired.
(He also said Montana is playing Arizona sometime in there)
March 22nd, 2013 at 1:31 PM
I love Charles but he is really out of place here. At times, it seems like he’d being fed lines for his analysis. It also hurts not having Ernie Johnson around with him.

lol…GREAT INSIGHT mr. source. this is clearly irrefutable proof that their relationship is a sham.

But isn’t Charles Barkley’s analysis correct? I mean, you can listen to these guys give a deep analysis all day, but that’s what it comes down to. studio shows are meant to be entertaining, not informative.
March 22nd, 2013 at 1:36 PM
Charles seemed a little bit out of his element and didn’t offer much but it’s possible he was horrified by the commercials for Shaq’s “comedy” show and was feeling shellshocked. Also, it’s possible that the worst blowout of a long day coming at the end of the day didn’t lend itself to any kind of inspiration.
March 22nd, 2013 at 1:37 PM
Wait, when did this post become about Shaq?
March 22nd, 2013 at 1:38 PM
spence we’re not buying it until a pegging video leaks

You know that as soon as Arnie has finished schtupping Upton, he’s going after Vonn, right?
March 22nd, 2013 at 1:40 PM
Hm, I was under the impression he had 76 career wins, but then I’m not Golf Digest In Association With Golf World.
/ Or maybe it’s just POORLY WORDED
March 22nd, 2013 at 1:44 PM
didn’t Syracuse win that game by like 50 points? there really isn’t that much to analyze.
since when does Darren Rovell work undercover of anonymity?

I don’t see much wrong with what he said. The basketball phrase “make shots” is used all time by everyone it seems.

His piece on the Williams Sonoma catalogue is one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long, long time.
March 22nd, 2013 at 1:55 PM
Anyone still watching “analysis” and actually looking for something is retarded in the first place and you deserve to have to listen to Barkley’s take on it because you are a moron.
March 22nd, 2013 at 1:56 PM
I knew this was coming. Now make it happen.
March 22nd, 2013 at 1:58 PM
This is so true.
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:00 PM
This is so true.
Just wait. There are a bunch of BDD haters round these parts. They will be here any second to tell you how unfunny he is. Doesn’t matter if you can relate to some of his stuff, he isn’t funny to them, so he isn’t funny at all.
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:00 PM

2 things:
1. Montana/Idaho/Wyoming is pretty much heaven for any person who enjoys outdoorsy things like hiking/camping/fishing/hunting/mountain climbing. Spent every summer from age 5-14 in that part of the country doing those things.
2. Whoever opened up the wormhole that is celebritynetworth.com I hate you and I love you at the same time. My favorite one so far is this gem.
Never heard of her, but with a celebrity net worth of less than a million I guess i shouldn’t be surprised.

March 22nd, 2013 at 2:12 PM
I agree with him 100%. my favorite sports games are all the arcadey stuff from the 90′s – NBA Jam, NFL Blitz, Ken Griffey Slugfest, NHL ’94…stuff like that. if you understand the basic elements of the sport you can play them reasonably well. I picked up the new Madden a few months ago and playing it is kind of a chore.
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:12 PM
Did that cunt just air ball a free throw?
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:13 PM
Exactly. The games, by getting more true to life, have become less fun for sure. Except Fifa, which is amazing.
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:15 PM
I didn’t play NCAA or Madden last year but you could still find little tricks to get to 100 in a lot of games on NCAA 12. I don’t know what BDD means, still. I know who Drew Magary is

March 22nd, 2013 at 2:31 PM
I don’t have any reason that I can recall for hating NC State and, yet, I find it quite pleasing that Temple thumped them in the first half.
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:33 PM
Yeah, that was fun.
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:33 PM
Just need Ohio State to lose sooner than later. Go away. Cheaters
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:34 PM

That sound you hear is Trey cackling as Ole Miss takes out Wisconsin.
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:39 PM
Wisconsin’s “offense” is laughable
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:40 PM
I wonder if Mark Turgeon and Tony Bennett are going to complain now about not getting in the tournament after how shitty the 4th place ACC team looks.
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:42 PM
I really thought Wisconsin had a run in them. Shows what I know.
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:42 PM
Wisconsin has to rely on the 3point shot because they don’t have players with the ability to dribble and drive down the lane
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:43 PM
Don’t count on it. Enjoy those sanctions friend-o.
Fuck Wisconsin. What the fuck was that shit?

Same thing they’d been doing all year. So overseeded it wasn’t even funny.
Gotta love the RPI
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:53 PM
Watching tourney for the first time this year. The excitement of the current games lead me to believe I probably haven’t missed anything.
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:56 PM
you mean you’ve never watched the tournament at all?
March 22nd, 2013 at 2:57 PM
A.P., I am looking to create a rumor that the Bills are trading to #1 to draft Geno Smith. Any interest?
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:01 PM
I’m already preparing to jump off a bridge. I saw how Geno Smith performed in big spots against pro-style defenses. Maybe that was the fault of Holgerson and WV’s style, but I need to see Geno prove it in the pros first. Buffalo shouldn’t trade multiple picks to get the #1 spot. No way. Too many holes to fill
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:01 PM
Was this the only game and only moment that Charles Barkley provided analysis the entire night?
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:07 PM
yes.
/no
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:15 PM
Local theater, built in the early 1900′s, showed Seven Samurai recently. Went with my wife. Such a great film.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:18 PM
Yep, all three games had crowds of 60,000-plus. And all were back in the ’80s, under Dale Brown.
I think the record in question is for the regular season only.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:19 PM
I was fortunate to see Seven Samurai for the first time in a theater. It’s made for a big screen.
/ All-time favorite movie
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:21 PM
A.P., if the Bills trade up to draft Geno, that front office is dumber than I thought.
Heck, if they draft him in the first round at all, that applies.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:23 PM
Have to admit I have not seen any of his other movies. Which should I check out?
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:25 PM
Also, in a delicious and possibly cosmic coincidence, They Live is probably my all time favorite movie. The only other candidates would be Beetlejuice and The Exorcist.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:32 PM
Stray Dog is a good early one. Some people love Ikiru, but I find it overly sentimental.
Rashomon, Hidden Fortress, Throne of Blood, Yojimbo and Sanjuro would be a good sampler of his great middle period.
Ran and Kagamusha are highly praised, but I find them really formalistic and not very engaging.
Late period, I really enjoyed Madadayo, his last film.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:33 PM
It’s probably my favorite Carpenter film, along with Prince of Darkness and Vampires.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:34 PM
Dont forget Kiki’s Delivery Service
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:36 PM
Spirited Away great example of his piggy period
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:37 PM
Have to admit I have not seen any of his other movies. Which should I check out?
Oh, boy. Throw a dart. You’ll be happy. Rashomon. Stray Dog. The Idiot. Ikiru. Throne of Blood. Yojimbo. Ran. Do-Des-Ka-Den. Madadayo. Pretty much anything he made.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:38 PM
Love that movie, but that’s Miyazaki. Some great ones from him as well: My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:38 PM
Red Beard is also pretty good.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:43 PM
Chihiro’s parents turning into pigs as they ate was seriously terrifying
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:43 PM
That one, Dersu Uzala and Dreams are the only ones I have’t seen, I think, aside from his wartime very early stuff.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:44 PM
Those little black spider things kind of freaked me out.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:51 PM
If you’re into Japanese film, Shôhei Imamura is a great director to check out. Ballad of Narayama, Vengeance Is Mine, The Eel … all great.
Ditto Nagisa Ôshima … Cruel Story of Youth, In the Realm of the Senses, Empire of Passion.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:51 PM
Dreams is cool to look at. Critics soiled themselves diving over each other to praise it at the time but it’s a Queefer special: good, not great.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:52 PM
The Eel is awesome.
March 22nd, 2013 at 3:55 PM
Nada, have you ever watched Eureka? It’s 4 hours long and it’s one of the slowest paced movies of all time, but it is one of my all-time favorites and a must-watch for a cinematic Japanophile.
March 22nd, 2013 at 8:13 PM
Nada i was making fun of your japanese pretentiousness. I know my Kurosawa from my miyazaki from my Mitsubishi
