All, Bill Simmons, College Basketball, ESPN, NCAA Tournament March 21st. 2013, 1:46pm
Grantland is doing a live YouTube commentary broadcast thing in Bill Simmons’ pool house for March Madness. Jalen Rose has taken the opportunity to tell stories about his time at Michigan while holding his baseball bat. During a discussion of The Sports Guy’s couch, Jalen Rose and Rembert Browne decided to start jumping on the furniture to semi-quote Chappelle’s Show by yelling, “Eff yo couch!”

March 21st, 2013 at 1:51 PM
Tuned in for a while. Pretty good stuff.
March 21st, 2013 at 1:53 PM
Of course people are going to hate, but this has been a great listen. Talking about anything and everything related to the NCAA. Good stuff.

This needs repeating.

Rick James: I’m sorry, Charlie Murphy, it was an accident. I was having too much fun. I offer you a truce. The stickiest of the icky. You want to smoke with the old boy Rick James?
Charlie Murphy: Yo, man, my forehead is bumpin’, man.
Rick James: Now that you mention it, I think I’m bleeding inside my chest. But I got the medicine.

I don’t want to seem like somebody who doesn’t know things, but who exactly is rembert brown? I know only one thing about the guy, and that’s that he once watched an episode of the Walking Dead.
March 21st, 2013 at 1:57 PM
why? Because they desperately want the “friends hanging out talking basketball” dynamic that TNT has with Inside the NBA..
March 21st, 2013 at 2:01 PM
Was Rembert planning to take Simmons’ daughter to prom?
March 21st, 2013 at 2:02 PM
What happened to SCTrojans? Did he get the banhammer?
March 21st, 2013 at 2:02 PM
Top three funniest Chappelle skits of all time
March 21st, 2013 at 2:02 PM
Rembert Brown is who taught me that the cool kids refer to Mumford & Sons as Mumford.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:03 PM
I read his Dave Chappelle piece and enjoyed it, but not familiar with anything else.
/glad I could help
March 21st, 2013 at 2:05 PM
Writer for Grantland. He’s from Atlanta, so I’m supposed to say he’s awesome, but the two things I’ve read have been “meh.”
March 21st, 2013 at 2:05 PM
In addition Rembert enjoys a variety of music, often at concerts where he doesn’t seem to do drugs, is strangely ignorant of the events of the 80s in a manner I most certainly am not of the 70s, and as you can tell from his stylish hat hails from Atlanta.

If judging by the first time you say the sketch, I’d go:
Clayton Bigsby
Rick James
Racial Draft
Pixies
March 21st, 2013 at 2:08 PM
Chris Johnson, still clueless
March 21st, 2013 at 2:10 PM
Husker, don’t forget the MTV Cribs skit. That may be the most underrated of all his skits.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:10 PM
I couldn’t believe I was watching The Niggar Family when it first aired.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:10 PM
That was good for sure, but it’s not above (for me, anyway) those I listed as well as the R Kelly video, Slow motion sketch, Prince and the player haters ball.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:11 PM
I used to really enjoy reading the Sports Guy but I haven’t read a column of his in years. I guess around 2007 is when I gave up on him. That sort of coincides when I started hanging around this place (probably 2008). Coincidence? I think not!
March 21st, 2013 at 2:11 PM
Damn…totally forgot about this one. It’s top-5 for me. I fucking loved his show. It was required viewing in college
March 21st, 2013 at 2:12 PM
It’s the Niggar family!
March 21st, 2013 at 2:12 PM
Clayton Bigsby was the first one I ever saw, and I was totally shocked.
Also, don’t forget the Mad Real World. Also hilarious.

March 21st, 2013 at 2:16 PM
Justified questions: I haven’t been paying attention as much as I should during Justified this season and probably missed a few things. Does anyone know why Arlo decided to look for Drew’s bag while in prison? Also, if Drew through Waldo from the plane, how did Drew come to be in Harlan? Furthermore, why was Drew on the plane? Did he steal the drugs from the Detroit people?
/sorry for all of the questions.

All seasons of Chappelle Show are streaming on Amazon Prime.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:17 PM
Damn…THERE ARE SO MANY!! The reparations one is great, too. So is the first “ask a black dude” and the Wayne Brady sketch. That show was always on point.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:17 PM
If I’m not mistaken, that was the very first skit of series opening episode.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:17 PM
Jalen holding that bat makes him look like NewJack on Smokey Mountain Wrestling. Or ECW for you Northeast Elites.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:19 PM
Black Bush was also up there for me. “Tryna get that oil…..OOOOOFHGHHHH”.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:19 PM
It was.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:20 PM
“ole? ole? what’s this bitch talkin’ ’bout ole for?”
March 21st, 2013 at 2:22 PM
Reggie Rembert > Rembert Brown
March 21st, 2013 at 2:23 PM
Him not having a show during Obama’s presidency is a grave injustice.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:23 PM
If we’re talking Grantland, shouldn’t that be “Gladwell I could help”?
March 21st, 2013 at 2:25 PM
black, what happened to douglas?
March 21st, 2013 at 2:27 PM
Also, Simmons has a window-unit AC embedded in his wall? What’s up with that?
March 21st, 2013 at 2:28 PM
arlo was looking for the bag because he knew about how valuable it was, in hindsight, to protect shelby/drew for helping arlo financially from the coke.
shelby/drew remained in harlan because he broke his legs landing.
drew was the pilot.
yes he stole the drugs.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:28 PM
So true.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:30 PM
I was just thinking the other day how Obama impressions from comedians flat out suck. Maybe we were all just spoiled with Clinton and Dubya.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:30 PM
I found it too regal. That and there is a Black Francis here as well. Didn’t want to cross streams. lol.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:31 PM
How about when the black people were paid reparations? “I’m rich biatch!”
March 21st, 2013 at 2:31 PM
Thank you, sir. I haven’t been paying attention as I should.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:33 PM
Black Forrest Ham > Black Francis
March 21st, 2013 at 2:33 PM
The guy from Key and Peele does a good Obama impersonation. They have some funny skits too. This one is priceless…only 3 minutes. You will thank me…

March 21st, 2013 at 2:35 PM
I’m more of a salted-cured fan myself.
Paul, you is a war-wilf?!
March 21st, 2013 at 2:35 PM

March 21st, 2013 at 2:37 PM

March 21st, 2013 at 2:44 PM
I was thinking of a way to describe how shitty that game is. This pretty much takes care of it.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:49 PM
That Key & Peele alien sketch just kills me every time. “What. Is. That?”
March 21st, 2013 at 2:49 PM
C’mon Saint Mary’s.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:50 PM
The skit where one of them shoots a dude because they think they’ve been turned into a Zombie is hilarious.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:50 PM
Heh. Go Tigers, Go.
March 21st, 2013 at 2:50 PM
Exciting to think that either Frank Black or Pope Francis is a commenter here.
/ Especially if it’s Frank Black from Millenium
March 21st, 2013 at 2:52 PM
/high fives Husker
//remembers he’s a Dawg
///kicks Husker in the taint
March 21st, 2013 at 2:53 PM
Some sketch show should be able to mine gold from the Walking Dead black-characters-and-lines quota.
SNL fumbled that ball recently.
March 21st, 2013 at 3:03 PM
Exciting to think that either Frank Black or Pope Francis is a commenter here.
I highly doubt Charles Thompson is commenting here. Must be Pope Francis!
March 21st, 2013 at 3:12 PM
Sadly, its only post-Pixies Frank Black.
/my old handle was a poor mix of Pixies, beer, and Scotland.
//lame, I know.

I was shocked that neither Bill nor House were immediately aware of “F yo’ couch!”
“What’s this? What’s happening?” – House
Ha.
