Kliff Kingsbury Threw Out First Pitch, Looked Way Cooler Than You
All, College Football March 20th. 2013, 12:30pm
Kliff Kingsbury is college football’s coolest coach. Here he is with a flat brim, shades and trademark stubble throwing out the first pitch at a Texas Tech baseball game. His gun is up, but a slightly off-kilter angle, because blatant school enthusiasm is definitely cool, bro.

Wait till Disney gets a hold of the redesign. Of Kliff, not Yosemite Sam’s Fragile X Syndrome brother.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:33 PM
Can see his age/aura both helping and hurting in recruiting. I’d play for him.
/no coop
March 20th, 2013 at 12:34 PM
I don’t mean this offensively, but I kind of always pictured Duffy in the frat-boy vest/loafers-no-socks/visor/cheap oversized sunglasses type of “cool” get-up.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:35 PM
dude does not look like a coach/leader of boymen
March 20th, 2013 at 12:37 PM
+ 200 tandem CGG repeats
March 20th, 2013 at 12:37 PM
So that dumb fucking crown rule was passed. Seriously, fuck the NFL.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:37 PM
Aviators. Hoodie. Something between stubble and a full beard. Do wear loafers/boat shoes without socks because who the fuck does that?
March 20th, 2013 at 12:37 PM
I can tell I’m not going to like this dude very much.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:39 PM
Wow. And Atlanta just signed Steven Jackson. Great.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:40 PM
Boat shoes with patterned socks and pants is acceptable, especially in cold weather. Loafers are no socks
March 20th, 2013 at 12:41 PM
Well I can’t hate on that… shave, let it grow until you have to look nice for something. Shave again.
/team no shaving
When we were out in Birmingham (of all places) the brewery was filled with identical frat boys… visor-northface vest-loafers-sunglasses-long hair, etc. I felt like a game of flip cup might break out at any second.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:43 PM
flat bill = douchy
March 20th, 2013 at 12:43 PM
Never wear boat shoes with socks.
I do own a North Face vest, but that’s a Michigan more than a douche thing.
My style is basically a toned-down Brooklyn with dashes of Michigan and Preppy.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:44 PM
Also, whatever my wife tells me looks good.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:44 PM
Totally agree.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:44 PM
And the Browns burned a 1st rounder on Trent Richardson. Fan fucking tastic.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:44 PM
WTF is toned down Brooklyn? What is Michigan?
/preppy I know already
March 20th, 2013 at 12:45 PM

Perfectly selection – he’s the next Mike Leach.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:45 PM
Perfectly selection
Nice …
March 20th, 2013 at 12:45 PM
If you are aware of it, it makes it more acceptable. I on the other hand have no style. Of any sort. When I go out I wear a button-down shirt with jeans, and I’m sure I just look like a guy who is trying to be back in college 10 years ago.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:46 PM
All he needs us the popped collar.

March 20th, 2013 at 12:48 PM
Did not see that coming from that particular source.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:48 PM
I won’t say never. Majority, yes. I also hate my feet being cold so I guess I’ll bend the rules
March 20th, 2013 at 12:48 PM
i think we can all agree that nothing should ever be tucked into jeans, right? RIGHT?!?!?!
March 20th, 2013 at 12:49 PM
Any cap that is worn in such a manner (flat bill, sticker/tags on) to look brand new, along with any cap that cost more than $20, is douchy IMO.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:49 PM
I would look like a hipster in Midwest with my jeans that fit. I look Midwest here.
Michigan – North Face, weather appropriate footwear, I am currently wearing a Moosejaw hoodie.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:49 PM
i wear speedos and timberlands and nothing else, no matter the weather

Growing up I had a perfectly curved/worn Penn State hat (was off-white, with blue logo on it). It had the perfect fraying on it. Then they started making hats already frayed and I had to toss it.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:52 PM
i had to double check that this comment came from you…the subtle humor, the nod to blues, my god. it’s perfect.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:52 PM
I’m not your friend, pal.
/ Turns flat bill cap to cocky degree
March 20th, 2013 at 12:52 PM
wtf? all i said that i think it can be ok…i dont have a single flat billed hat.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:53 PM
On the topic of fashion, I crack up every time I see an Ad for these hideous shoes that Mole linked to last week. Apparently the Internet thinks I’m interested in the funky shit he gets down with. Like some beaded slip ons.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:53 PM
Pats abstained on voting for/against the “tuck rule”. Nice.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:53 PM
Did you just admit to being an Allmans fan?
March 20th, 2013 at 12:53 PM
If you’re going with a sport coat and jeans, you might want to tuck the shirt in. But you need the waistline to be able to pull that off.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:54 PM
You walk into a hat store with $20 and you walk out with half a hat. Good god man.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:54 PM
Don’t you fucking lie to me Spencer.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:54 PM
I have to pay more than $20 for a ballcap because I have a large cranium
March 20th, 2013 at 12:54 PM
New Era 59FIFTY hats are 35 bucks. If you can find them for under $20 bucks let me know.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:54 PM
No coincidence that it came immediately after Spencer’s “never tuck” statement.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:54 PM
Wearing a MLB team’s cap is not douchy. Wearing one with sticker/tags all over it is douchy.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:55 PM
It is if the bill is flat.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:55 PM
A line is a terrible thing to waist.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:56 PM
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:56 PM
dude, im a MASSIVE allman bros fan.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:56 PM
Spencer has been rockin it that way since CC Sabathia pitched for the Indians.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:56 PM
Tucking nicer button ups with a nice jacket is ok. But you better not be wearing tennis shoes
March 20th, 2013 at 12:56 PM

I have a big head. Those are the only ones that will look good on me. And after playing for so long I can’t go back to curve. I get your point though. So many wear it terribly it gives them a bad name

/wait, do people really button up?
March 20th, 2013 at 12:59 PM
i have the waistline to pull off the non-tucked shirt/jeans/sport coat combo, but i cant do jeans and a sport coat. feel like it defeats the purpose of both.
March 20th, 2013 at 12:59 PM
Back before New Era went all Fred Durst, they did the MLB game-day hats and sold them as the Cooperstown Collection. I bought one in 1993 and it still is in respectable shape.
In Stand By Me, when Ace took Gordie’s hat, man. Gordie would have been WELL within his rights to have blasted Ace down later on.

-unacceptable if you try the look at a more formal event. you jackoff.

Kevin Arnold was living in California and was a Jets fan.
Wait. They lived in California? I thought they were East Coast b/c they worked at that summer camp in the Catskills. What the hell?

Great deadspin piece on Anthony Robles, the one-legged national champion wrestler
One of the best pieces I’ve ever read on that site.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:05 PM
Blue, red, tan/khaki, green … never black.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:05 PM
Yet he’ll never win an ass-kicking contest.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:06 PM
via wikipedia on Wonder Years: Co-creator Neal Marlens wanted the setting to be Huntington, Long Island, where he grew up. ABC insisted that the location remain nonspecific (the colloquial “Anywhere, USA”).[14] Episode entitled ” The Family Car” in season 3 shows a California License Plate on the Arnold’s station wagon. Also, in season two Kevin’s sister runs away to San Francisco.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:06 PM
I don’t rock black/brown ever, but I’ve seen so many chicks do it. Apparently it’s no longer a fashion faux pas.
My view:
Brown shoes go with blue, brown, white. Really anything other than red (though should anyone ever wear red pants outside of at a football game…same goes with orange, purple, etc…) black and grey.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:06 PM
Nada, When I wear dark blue pants, I always wear black shoes because the pants are so close to black
March 20th, 2013 at 1:07 PM
i think it depends on the shade of brown shoes…and you gotta make sure it matches the belt.
im a big fan of brown and blues. mi madre got me a tie from italy that’s brown with pink stitching that looks AWESOME.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:07 PM
I have not worn a tie in over a decade, and am strangely proud of that.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:08 PM
It really isn’t. Unless you’re just a moron about it
March 20th, 2013 at 1:08 PM
I thought it was common knowledge that this was the case about the wonder years? and i am pretty sure paul made fun of him for wearing a jets jacket as they lived out west.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:09 PM
funny, ive been voluntarily wearing a tie and fucking love it. much easier to get away with the shaggy hair and bushy beard.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:09 PM
So, I take it the Esquire TV channel is going to be a lot like the comments in this post.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:09 PM
Black shoes/blue pants (talking navy blue) are classic. Brown shoes/blue pants acceptable. Brown shoes/black pants never never never.
I’m a big hater of brown shoes/gray slacks, but lots of guys seem to find that acceptable.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:10 PM
I have those zip up ties that look like you actually tied it. The best.
I had these sweet Steve Madden brown shoes that I only wore a few times so I gave them to my brother who dresses up all the time for music gigs.

March 20th, 2013 at 1:11 PM
i think blue looks much better wtih brown than black, to each his own tho.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:12 PM

March 20th, 2013 at 1:21 PM
One of the worst things ever yes. Also, women wearing those giant sunglasses.
March 20th, 2013 at 1:22 PM
and i am pretty sure paul made fun of him for wearing a jets jacket as they lived out west.
hmm. You cant argue the license plate thing. As for the sister running off to Frisco, that wouldnt of been a thing back in that time. But this is lame. Borderline ruins the show.

Brown shoes and gray slacks are absolutely acceptable. I have a gray suit with burgundy pinstripes on it from Brooks Brothers that I wear with brown shoes/belt and burgundy socks/tie and a blue shirt on the suggestion of my taylor.
