The Jason McIntyre Show Episode 3: Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports
Who better to talk to this week leading up to the NCAA Tournament than college basketball’s ultimate insider, Jeff Goodman?
You can listen to it below or download it here or below. It should be on iTunes soon.
Among the topics covered:
* Brackets (he’s headed to Auburn Hills)
* His tenure at CBS (his contract is up soon, a topic which gets really interesting)
* His move from Fox to CBS, and what Fox did after he left with college hoops; and what they might do in the future
* Is Jim Boeheim a jerk? When he was a prick to Goodman last month, he called to apologize
* Lots of NBA draft stuff (No. 1 pick, Otto Porter, Gorgui Dieng)
* Kansas losing to UNC, and Gonzaga losing to Pittsburgh
* The riddle that is Florida: Can’t win close games, stats are great, backcourt of chuckers, but favorable path to the Final 4
* An early look at the 2013 coaching carousel, featuring Tubby Smith, and my story on Jamie Dixon and Ben Howland possibly returning to Pittsburgh

March 18th, 2013 at 5:00 PM
I see all the name suggestions fell on deaf ears.

Change the name to the J-Mac V-Back Attack.

I’m rooting for “The JMac Pack.”
March 18th, 2013 at 5:04 PM
I’m sitting here at my desk, waiting for the clock to wend its way to 5 p.m., and listening to “The Troggs Tapes.” You can’t make shit like this up.

Mike Mayock
Would definitely listen to this.
March 18th, 2013 at 5:20 PM
it’d be horrible anyways…we’d agree on everything and id start every thought off with “DUDE, so check this out…”
March 18th, 2013 at 5:21 PM
Then Soused would drunkenly mumble something incomprehensible in his Thunder Bay accent, and nod off.
March 18th, 2013 at 5:22 PM

Soused would go into a rage about how we are all capitalist pig fuckers and would probably cite a website that’s entirely in French in order to prove his point.

Norman Chad!
God no.
March 18th, 2013 at 5:24 PM
Made me think of this for no reason
March 18th, 2013 at 5:24 PM
“DUDE, i had no idea. im totally open to this idea right now and will accept it as gospel. we ARE assholes man. we could be so much better if we just…/does bong rip…like, have you tried out the new taylor made’s? the r1′s a pretty solid driver yo.”
March 18th, 2013 at 5:25 PM
the R1 would be so much more solid if they didn’t put a shit paint job on the crown

Charlie Steiner.
/ ESPN misses Charlie terribly
March 18th, 2013 at 5:27 PM
The way he annunciates sometimes gives me a John Malkovich vibe. That’s all I got.
March 18th, 2013 at 5:27 PM
My accent is part McCoaughney (sp?), part Pat Dye, part W. Bush. Y’all would hate it.
March 18th, 2013 at 5:30 PM
Jason,
Props for improving the audio. Also, you seem to be doing a better job of finding when to pick you spots, while letting the guest speak without interruption.
March 18th, 2013 at 5:31 PM
Can you really know what your own accent sounds like? I don’t even recognize myself on a recording.
March 18th, 2013 at 5:32 PM
dude, when you have the nasally north-midwestern accent i described above and you go down to baritone tixis, youll definitely notice it. i can pick out my voice in a recording just by my cadence and how i interrupt everyone.
March 18th, 2013 at 5:32 PM
When I went to Auburn, people would always ask me to say “Nice” “Right”, etc. When I moved back to Texas from Auburn, I always had to say “Au-ben Tigahs” as I picked that up over there. So yes, I became hyper-aware.

March 18th, 2013 at 5:44 PM
Also, it’s gonna be funny when the Big 10 turns out to be overrated and Barkley was right.
March 18th, 2013 at 5:45 PM
Interesting. When I was in Europe last summer I was fully aware that I didn’t sound like everyone else, aside from the occasional American we would run into, but that experience hasn’t made me hear my own voice in my head any differently.
March 18th, 2013 at 5:46 PM
“any differently”….can I get a ruling on that from one of the grammarians on here?
March 18th, 2013 at 5:46 PM
that’s because americans are genetically superior to europeans and cannot even intellectually process the thought of thinking we’re on equal evolutionary footing.
March 18th, 2013 at 7:40 PM
Glad to see you improved the audio quality. gottlieb episode was hard to tolerate. I subscribed via iTunes. Good job getting it on there
