And then checked his bank account to see if the ESPN direct deposit went through that week
March 18th, 2013 at 8:16 AM
Interesting.
Thanks for handling this. Jay Bilas can get fucked. Such a god damn hypocrite.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:19 AM

March 18th, 2013 at 8:25 AM
why would a story[sic] give a customer a gun and ammo? He killed himself in the store’s bathroom …
B/c the guy presented a firearm of his own and the clerk complied as he should. The dude was a loon and already had a gun … imagine that?

March 18th, 2013 at 8:28 AM
My cousin’s best friend in middle school/high school shaved in 5th grade. I felt bad for him, actually, because he was always made fun of. Kids are assholes.
Smart man.
Damn. Dude was JACKED up. Always sucks when you get KTFO, it’s recorded and then you get arrested. Tough break, bro.
Like…didn’t they see the dude with the cell phone recording it? The one dumb cop even asked about it as evidence.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:28 AM
2 fight videos and a taser one. Everything alright at home JMac?
/obligatory comment

Nice to see Streelman win yesterday. He is good people.

Kids are assholes.
Mine get a smack across the face if they are or mouth off to me.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:36 AM
Yikes. Call greyshirt “the Sleeper”, ’cause he put hairy dude to sleep. Loved the glow from all the cellies recording the body on the ground.
25-year (or so) cycle. I’m telling ya, nothing new under the sun.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:36 AM
I bet. Not looking forward to that.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:37 AM
It’s been snowing here since 2am. I can’t begin to tell you how happy it makes me to take the bus straight downtown instead of sitting in traffic for hours.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:37 AM
For real. Damn. Where’s Chris Tucker when you need him?
Also, that is a pretty good example of why SXSW stopped being fun like 5 years ago.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:39 AM
My mom told me this about 5 years ago. I thought she was just being a parent. Guess not.

March 18th, 2013 at 8:39 AM
Went to college with the guy who played Redford/Close’s kid at the end.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:40 AM
Kids are assholes.
I have 2 sons and a daughter. The differences between the boys is crazy.
Son #1 – multiple visits to the school for disciplinary issues and for beating up a kid. Got thrown out of a baseball game (HS) for dropping an f-bomb.
Son #2 – multiple visits to the school for all-around student / character awards. Broke up fights on the elementary school playground. He’s still in MS so he still has a shot to prevent a teammate from getting thrown out of an athletic event.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:42 AM
I can’t begin to tell you how happy it makes me to take the bus straight downtown instead of sitting in traffic for hours.
/Team mass-transit – even though it sucks in Atlanta, I use it whenever possible.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:43 AM
Holy shit. They throw you out of games for that? Good lawd. We would drop massive f-bombs playing soccer and the refs never seemed to care.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:44 AM
Few things crack me up more than the scared white suburbanite riding MARTA. Love seeing those people.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:46 AM
How is Seth Davis paid to talk basketball? All he does is talk about RPI and the eye test. Gottleib talks circles around him.

Holy shit. They throw you out of games for that? Good lawd. We would drop massive f-bombs playing soccer and the refs never seemed to care.
Directed right at the home plate ump while batting. The ump was terrible, but …
March 18th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
Few things crack me up more than the scared white suburbanite riding MARTA. Love seeing those people.
I grew up in the DC/MD area so I’m used to using it.
My next door neighbor is on the Marta SWAT squad – I get some interesting stories.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
Son #1 – multiple visits to the school for disciplinary issues and for beating up a kid. Got thrown out of a baseball game (HS) for dropping an f-bomb.
a friend of a friend dropped the N bomb at the ump in a beer league softball game. got banned from the league and ball park for life.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
My sons could not be more different.
The younger one is polite, uncoordinated and an avid reader.
Older one is a smart mouth, athletic and might not be able spell book.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:55 AM
That video makes me glad I’m spending my Monday working on a case against the Pittsburgh Police department.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:56 AM
The younger one is polite, uncoordinated and an avid reader.
No offense, but I really don’t know how I could deal with an uncoordinated kid. I guess I’m just lucky to have 2 QBs/Center fielders.
/laughs at VW commercial. Again.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:56 AM
I see. Yeah…directing the f-bombs to no one is what we did. Saying them while staring down the ref is another matter.
Fire away.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:57 AM
re: The fight video.
That was the strangest fight video I’ve seen in a while. I think it was funny that the two guys that he was pawing at wanted no part of him until he was on the ground.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
By the way the cop is denying he tazed him, claims the guy just fell over drunk, and the filmer is a doctor.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
Me and my brother are pretty much the complete opposite human being in the world. He’s a grammar nazi hipster who just graduated from law school, and I’m the hard partying athletic type. Our phone conversations are still awkward.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
There’s a SWAT team for the transit authority? Just for hostage and terror situations?
March 18th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
The best fight I ever saw was at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Barbecue Cook Off. It was two groups of cowboys and it seemed to be about 15 on each side. They squared off in a little intersection of the walkways between the barbecue tents. Luckily for me, when I walked up I was on the side that bum rushed the other. It was mayhem. I got the fuck out of there as quick as I could.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
My wife and I are both (or were, anyway) athletic. Our daughter seems to be above the curve on motor skills. The fact that she refuses to say what noise a cow makes, even though we’ve told her a million times, does concern me. though.
/it’s MOOOO god dammit
March 18th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
MARTA used to be shady, but they’ve overcorrected and it now feels really safe. You almost always see a MARTA cop on your train, or at least I did when I was going downtown often.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
The AT&T commercial where the kid wants to tape a cheetah to the back of his grandma? My son 3 years ago.
He’s a cool kid. They can’t all be QB’s and CF’s. And no offense taken, sometimes I’m in pain watching him play sports..
March 18th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
Remember the guy that committed suicide by jumping in front of a train and got pinned?
My buddy, we’ll call him Chris, was the first on the scene. He said it was exactly like the wife in signs – dude was still alive held together by the train and wall or whatever.
He told Chris – “Man – I don’t know why I did this – this was dumb. I’m gonna walk away from this and fix my life… etc. Chris had to tell him otherwise.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
she refuses to say what noise a cow makes
I was considering throwing a cat-related asian joke in there but I kinda like you and really don’t want to offend you.
By the way – I talked to a major league baseball scout last week and the subject of uga baseball came up. woof
March 18th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
/laughs at VW commercial. Again.
He’s not that bad. My older one claims I am. Dickhead.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
Feel like every drunk moron looking for a fight should get coldcocked in the side of the head. Maybe it would happen less.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:07 AM
My (soon to be) 2-year old thinks every color is ‘blue’. It’s both funny and frustrating.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
And no offense taken, sometimes I’m in pain watching him play sports..
Yeah – one of his best friends is a real creative intellectual kid and might be my fave friend of his.
Had a “Cats in the Cradle” moment yesterday…
He plays lacrosse for GA Southern. They played in Ft Meyers yesterday and I was able to go b/c I commute regularly to Naples for work and popped in early. Talked to him about 30 seconds before the game. After the game, he and 3 teammates were haulin to PC beach for spring break so we talked for maybe 20 minutes. ugh.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:10 AM

March 18th, 2013 at 9:11 AM
I spoke with one about football and could see his erection.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:12 AM

Spencer told you all this way back in 2000 and 8.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:13 AM
Anyone watch the 30 for 30 last night about the ’83 NC State team? Thoughts?
March 18th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
Jay Bilas: The NCAA system is “profoundly immoral”
Bilas needs to find himself some other work seeing how he profits off the profoundly immoral system.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
Yeah – one of his best friends is a real creative intellectual kid and might be my fave friend of his.
It got to the point where his best friend since 4 years old would come to the house and throw a football with the older one.
And PC beach is awesome.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:15 AM
Anyone watch the 30 for 30 last night about the ’83 NC State team? Thoughts?
I had it on while doing other stuff. Did they completely white wash over Valvano’s violations?
March 18th, 2013 at 9:15 AM
Anyone watch the 30 for 30 last night about the ’83 NC State team? Thoughts?
LOVE jimmy V.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:16 AM
Mine’s 2 1/2 and thinks everything is green.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:16 AM
that was a real good article.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:16 AM
Did they completely white wash over Valvano’s violations?
didn’t white wash over it, but lets just say it wasn’t a focus.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
I spoke with one about football and could see his erection.
Must be next in line.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:18 AM
didn’t white wash over it, but lets just say it wasn’t a focus.
It probably shouldn’t have been. They were merely NCAA violations and fuck the NCAA.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:19 AM
contract the Kings.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
Anyone watch the 30 for 30 last night about the ’83 NC State team? Thoughts?
no, but i will. just didnt HAVE to see it last night, i feel like ESPN crams jimmy v stuff down the public’s throats about 10 times a year.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
Anyone watch the 30 for 30 last night about the ’83 NC State team? Thoughts?
damn no way – I missed it. Derek Wittenberg and Sidney Lowe are friends of mine from summer league HS basketball and camps.
/not so humblebrag and damn I’m old
March 18th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Huge State fan, but I was unable to watch 30/30. That team doesn’t get the credit it deserves for being a REALLY good team. They were 6-4 that season vs. teams that were #1 or had been ranked #1.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
Lotsa retarded toddlers all up in here.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
I feel likewise.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
My dog is smarter than y’all’s kids (exception being craig), and he’s pretty dumb.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
I laughed.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Looks at schedule for the week. 5 case in court Thursday afternoon. Pissed.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
That’s because it gets in the way of the legend that they were the underdog of underdogs instead of just a really good team that dealt with some bad injury luck during the season
March 18th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
I found an old basketball score book in my parent’s attic where I kept scores of basketball games I saw on TV and that ’83 championship game was in there.
I spent the next hour after finding that book trying to convince myself that it wasn’t weird for to keep a score book from games I watched on TV.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
Took Friday off, but my usual Thursday half day is in jeopardy due to poorly scheduled meetings.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
Interesting .. unusual concession items
Beer Shakes: Palmetto Espresso Porter Chocolate, Guinness Caramel and Sweetwater 420 Strawberry.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Jalapeno Bacon Burger
March 18th, 2013 at 9:42 AM
If you tell us you score a baseball game you watch on TV I’m updating the spreadsheet to indicate you’re a fat white 27 year old girl.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
They sell bourbon and rum milkshakes at CONSOL Energy Center, pretty delicious.
Was always a fan of getting Jack n the Box eggnog milkshakes and mixing in Gentleman Jack.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
Took Friday off, but my usual Thursday half day is in jeopardy due to poorly scheduled meetings.
Thursday and Friday pms are off for me. Eight straight years of going to the same bar/pizza joint watching game with friends. And we will have the same stupid arguments. It will be glorious.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
WHAT! Wish I would have come across those yesterday. That place is pretty awesome Mole, Where were you sitting? We were in section 114
March 18th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
I love stories about 30 year olds with a grad degree taking home 1800 a month, bitching about it. Let me guess, it’s a masters in social work? Get a skill, market yourself.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
Yeah man there are Burgatorys there that sell them.
We were in 207 near the railing, great view. Sat in 113 three seats from the glass on Tuesday and honestly it was such a bitch seeing the other end of the ice through the penalty box that it kind of sucked.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:51 AM
Crazy stat.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
Handing out donated items to battered women isn’t a skill?
March 18th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
Biggest white wash is John Wooden’s paying of players, but hey, he uttered some great platitudes in his day.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
only time i popped a polo shirt collar was to make fun of those who pop polo shirt collars (in college) or on a coat, to keep warm
March 18th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
AND GET A GODDAMN JOB WHILE YOU’RE GOING TO SCHOOL!! (Unless you’re JMac, and can gt the parents to let you go on the 5 year plan. Nicely played, sir.) I’m tired of the whining from the most entitled generation of all time. And the guy with a masters in Econ, living in Wichita? You ever wonder why bikini models don’t live in Juneau? Go where the jobs are, dumbass. Most importantly–QUIT FUCKING WHINING ABOUT IT.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:53 AM
Keeping score of games stopped at puberty because you realize that nothing turns on the ladies on more than knowing how to keep a score book.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:55 AM
Whining about other people whining is cool though.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:55 AM
Last nights 30 for 30 was awesome. Just watching them sit around the table telling stories was great. Valvano seemed to be a cool dude and all of his players on that team loved the guy.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
I thought you were about to make a fat joke about Eskimos here.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
Unless you’re JMac, and can gt the parents to let you go on the 5 year plan. Nicely played, sir.
don’t hate. i got 4 1/2 years for free (mom worked at the college i attended)
March 18th, 2013 at 9:58 AM
technically, I transferred, lost a few credits in that process, and THEN milked the 5th year.
also, this was … geez, nearly 15 years ago, when college was much cheaper.
(damn, i sound oldddd)
March 18th, 2013 at 9:59 AM
5 years on the Hope scholarship in Athens. Never more than 12 hours a semester.
/I was that kid in college
March 18th, 2013 at 10:00 AM
I was told from a very early age that if I wanted to attend college, I’d have to pay for it myself. If I ever have kids, they’ll hear the same message from me. I think your kids should stop being your financial responsibility as soon as they finish high school. A 19 year old isn’t a “kid”, it’s an young adult. Handle your own damn business.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:01 AM
Did they get (H)akeem or Clyde to turn heel and clown on Valvano’s big scnhozz?
March 18th, 2013 at 10:01 AM
I want to be able to pay for my children’s college. That’s a goal of mine. I want them to be as close to debt free as they get when they begin their careers.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:02 AM
I’m fairly certain I spent more time in college than any other commenter. I loved the college life and had very little financial/career ambition.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:02 AM
If I ever get tickets again I’ll have to look for them
We had the same complaints yesterday, hard to see the action on the side and the corners. When the pens were shooting on our goal it was great. Chara is a big fucking dude
March 18th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
/ High 5
/ Looks sadly at college loans going into year 13 of repayment
March 18th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
I do as well but I’m starting to realize that this may be out of reach, at least the idea of paying 100% for it.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:06 AM
I always remember hearing that senior who was “ready to leave school.” I was always amazed at that person. I was perfectly content living with my best friends, having no real responsibility and having the time of my life every day. Now that I work in an office every day I see that I had the right frame of mind about it. Take that 5th year and have a blast, because the next 40(ish) years are going to be mostly boring.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:06 AM
Same boat here. The price of college freaks me out.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:06 AM
Yeah but to be fair most kids don’t have the vital business connections made while in Hitler Youth to start their career immediately.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
5 years on the Hope scholarship in Athens. Never more than 12 hours a semester.
i got down to 9 once or twice.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
My oldest is a Junior in HS. We’ve been saving monthly since he was born and hoped to have 100% paid for. Not going to happen.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
Gee, thanks. Live with a best friend. Another one lives a mile away. Still feels like I’m in college while making money now
March 18th, 2013 at 10:08 AM
I wanted out of college because I hated being broke. I knew I’d always long for the freewheeling lifestyle, but being broke for 23 years fucking sucked and it was a life I was willing to move on from.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:09 AM
I’m fairly certain I spent more time in college than any other commenter. I loved the college life and had very little financial/career ambition.
i work with a girl who took 9 years to finish her undergrad. 1 year of “fun”, 4 years at a community college to get an associates, then 4 years at a university to finish the remaining 2 years of the bachelors.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:10 AM
spring. break….. FOREVER.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
I always took 12 and then 1-2 classes in the summer.
I was fortunate to have parents who could (and we willing to) support me in college. I definitely had times where I was down to $3 in the account for the last few days of the month, and I wasn’t a baller, but I had enough to have a good time and take my gf out on a date. Plus, as with any college town, you could have a great time for $20 in Athens. Drinks were cheap and so was food.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
If my mom had those connections, she never told me about them.
I have about $30,000 in student loan right now. It’s manageable. I hear horror stories about people with 6 figure student debt. I really feel sorry for those people.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
It does, a girl I work with was talking to a financial adviser about what it may cost when her daughter would be attending and my jaw hit the floor. Eventually prices have to stop increasing right?
March 18th, 2013 at 10:13 AM
*raises hand*
March 18th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
I hear horror stories about people with 6 figure student debt. I really feel sorry for those people.
my buddy just married into like $330k. undergrad, masters, law school.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
You can still have a good time a few years removed from college, but when you meet a girl and start settling down, the good times are ending. Add a kid, they’re over. Add two, hang yourself.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:15 AM
Sure, once state and federal governments realize that that post-secondary schooling is at least as important as K-12 education.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:15 AM
We’ve been saying this about healthcare and health insurance for how long now…
March 18th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
5 years on the Hope scholarship in Athens. Never more than 12 hours a semester.
Exactly what I told my kid to do. Good job. Good effort.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
That much is only acceptable to an M.D. Unless she’s making at least $250k/yr.

How do you even begin to start paying that down? I’d walk around being depressed all the time.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
I got my first degree in mathematics in a reasonable amount of time, and then basically just hung around, taking classes “working on a second and third degree” for really no reason than to play pickup basketball every day and hang out with my friends at college. UT was super cheap back then and I could scrape by with an easy college job working at the tennis courts and my summer job giving tennis lessons.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
That much is only acceptable to an M.D. Unless she’s making at least $250k/yr.
got a job with social security in hopes of staying there 10 years. i think at that point they will wipe her debt clean. i think she’s barely making $40k a year.

Try nearly any 529 clculator. It’s depressing.

that would prevent me from proposing.

I once took 15 hours of courses on TUE and THUR so I could have more days to golf on the student golf rate.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:20 AM
Yeah public interest loan repayment program. Work for any government agency or non profit for ten years and regardless of how much you make there after ten years (doesn’t have to be the same job or place just ten total years) it’s wiped clean. You pay during the ten years though and the catch is that in the year the remainder is wiped clean it’s counted as taxable income.

Handle your own damn business.
agreed. altho if i’m wealthy in 12 years when they are about to go, i would definitely help. but lessons learned from working for something are valuable ones. most importantly, when they have skin in the game, you know their dedication is real

Htown Hacker has some great stories. Truly a man of mystery.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
Public service option? Hope she’s on the right repayment plan or the payments don’t count. I think the repayment for that amount is nearly $3k/month.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
oof. That’s going to be an ugly tax bill that year
March 18th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
I read these horror stories, man I am totally advise my one son to start his own plumbing company.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Yep. Best friend married. Having a baby next month. Don’t get to see him often and he lives really close. Still get together to play pickup though. As far as going out on weekends to bar? No chance now
March 18th, 2013 at 10:24 AM
Hmm – repayment on $330K is relatively reasonable – $1,300 to 1,800/month.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:24 AM
I want to think so…but I’m not so sure.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:24 AM
Wait I’m wrong about that, man I thought that was the case six years ago when I first looked at it. Well that’s a relief.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
Mine get a smack across the face if they are or mouth off to me.
no hitting except the ass (spanking) for me. too much damage can be done to the face. no i’m not a better parent/person than you, just my POV
carry on
March 18th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
I see we differ on what reasonable means.
That’s how it goes. I see my daughter for about 80 minutes a day during the week. So when the weekends come, I want to hang out with her. Then going out at night is tough due to finding a sitter. Life changes with a kid for sure, but I’ve never been happier, too. So it works out.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
I’m guessing this is sarcasm. Based on my current income, if I had to repay $1,300 each month for student loans, I would seriously think about fleeing the country.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:30 AM
Sarcasm definitely flew over my head. My bad.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:32 AM
nothing wrong with kids not going to college or traditional general colleges
trade schools, military, entrepreneurial or just work your way up from clerk. the attitude and work ethic matter more to me
March 18th, 2013 at 10:33 AM
I have a friend whose wife pays more in student loans than I do for my mortgage and car combined. I used to think my $35k was bad, but seeing what some of these kids have now is quite sad.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:34 AM
Then going out at night is tough due to finding a sitter.
not only that, but if you are still partying like you did without kids, you don’t want to have a hangover once kids come along. they wake at 6 no matter your condition
March 18th, 2013 at 10:35 AM
As far as paying for kids (if we ever have them-3rd IVF next month!) I would try to help, but most likely if we have kids and they go to college, they’re paying for a good portion on their own.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:35 AM
If you don’t go to college today, you’d better be your own boss. My cousin is in the boat now. He doesn’t know what he wants to do, isn’t a great student and felt he was wasting his parent’s money (mature conclusion). But he’s now realizing that the alternative to not getting a degree isn’t so great either.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:36 AM
So…SOOOOO true. Being hungover with a little one running around the house is a sick form of punishment. It happened once to me and most likely won’t happen again.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:37 AM
This is all good to chew on. I like the ideas of teachng my kids about college, cost, debt etc – work ethic, career choices. But these costs are pretty wild and not going down. My grandfather got a black lung settlement from his decade in the Allegheny coal mines and put that in a CD for me and it amounted to one year of my school, about 15 years after his passing. Just having that is an incredible difference maker and having somebody stake part of your EDU also makes you responsible to them to honor their committment as well. But if you don’t save anything well of course you ain’t helping much at all and you won’t have a choice.
I guess just save enought to maybe put a dent in that total amount, and pray they can get some scholarships and then it’s found $$$.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:39 AM
All my friends are starting to get married and/or having kids. Those that have kids are surprisingly still socially active. Helps that our idea of fun is bunch of people getting together in someone’s house and just hanging out playing video games or just talking. Everyone has moved on from their clubbing phase.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:42 AM
Clubbing/bar hopping was never my scene. Now that we’re older, we do a lot of cookouts at the house to watch the game or something like that.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:43 AM
We told our kids we would give them enough college money to go to an in-state state university. Anything over and above that was on them. No way we could handle a private college at $45K and up per year. Worked out OK. Paid off both sets of loans over 8 years and the kids got a decent education.
March 18th, 2013 at 10:55 AM
Same. Went out last Thursday night for a concert (free tickets), had like four or five beers, and was tired all day at work Friday. First time I went out on a weekday in ages. I don’t miss it.
March 18th, 2013 at 11:15 AM
You can still have a good time a few years removed from college, but when you meet a girl and start settling down, the good times are ending. Add a kid, they’re over. Add two, hang yourself.
young folks, do not let this kind of crap scare you. you marry the right one, and have a positive attitude yourself, marriage and multiple kids is no reason for life to stop being fun. it’s different fun
March 18th, 2013 at 11:16 AM
In my circle of friends, the biggest drunks are those that do the whole “we just have people over for dinner” thing.
March 18th, 2013 at 11:22 AM
Htown Hacker has some great stories. Truly a man of mystery.
this is not a knock on htown or scripty, well maybe scripty, but htown said he hung around college after getting a math degree so he could play pickup ball and teach tennis and hang out with friends. how is that a great story, make htown a man of mystery, or any different than stories we all can tell?
each of us has a lot of great interesting stories, and that particular story is banal at best. i bet htown has many many more intersting stories than that one
/not jealous or bitter just baffled
