This is Why Bob Knight’s Role Was Reduced to Three Minutes on ESPN’s NCAA Tournament Bracket Show

Bob Knight, everybody. Reminder: His contract at ESPN is up very, very soon. On perhaps the network’s biggest night of the tournament – since ESPN doesn’t show any games – Knight brings this garbage.

Oddly enough, that made perfect sense to me.

Makes sense to me, too. Trying to fabricate some drama/hits, or just not a fan of pundits who don’t talk like other pundits?

Eh. He didnt even address the question but it isnt egregious. Knight’s problem is he just doesnt study these teams enough. It isnt his life and he doesnt care. That he is borderline mentally ill is secondary.

What exactly is different about the tournament besides the fact that the competition is better late in the rounds? A fact which is true for every team whether they’ve been there before or not.
And what relevant or significant practical experience can possibly be gained from doing something a year ago that one time. If you can’t handle the pressure of the NCAA you wouldn’t be able to handle it whether its your first or second time.
I’m with Bob Knight on this.

My guess is he was removed as much for how he presented his message as the message itself. If he instead said, “Listen, I think a lot of this stuff about tournament experience is overblown. They’ve played top teams all year long and know what to expect. And they just played in a major tournament. So I don’t think you’re going to see them struggle when they take the court again in the NCAA Tournament.”
