Bill Walton: “I used to be a SportsCenter guy till I found First Take”
All, College Basketball, Media Gossip/Musings, Video March 16th. 2013, 5:37pm
Bill Walton has been bringing it strong and plausibly deniable this March. A couple days ago he referenced Bill Simmons and Ray Lewis. Last night, he affirmed to partner Dave Pasch that he has become a First Take fan. “Those guys, they bring it.”

This isn’t surprising. Walton is so annoyingly positive about everything. He is like an older, out of touch, less knowledgable version of Gruden with a speech impediment. Can’t stand listening to him.

I say he had tongue planted firmly in cheek.
Its worth noting that Simmons has not tweeted (other than retweets of Grantland related) and never did post a column Friday. Now, I read somewhere that he was traveling so maybe he took the week off. But do you really think he would pass up the chance to write about the Heat win streak or the Tourney?
I have no clue on these media things but I have a feeling this is going to be a pretty big story sometime next week.

Do you really not hear the sarcasm from that entire exchange?

Exactly, Deus.
Also, arent Walton and Simmons pretty tight?
TBL writers, people here seem to think you guys have 3 or 4 dozen ESPN people on speed dial. Get us some gossip and speculation more informed than mine.

He is clearly shitting on First Take. I bet that show is a bad joke among ESPN employees that have pride and Walton was making an inside joke with them.

Deadspin said he got twitter suspended for three days.
March 16th, 2013 at 6:13 PM
But that is what I am saying. The three days are up and he’s staying largely silent. I proposed Friday when his column didnt go up that it could be out of spite. No one seemed to want to go there and it may be total BS but Simmons has got his nose out of shape several other times when they have tried to muzzle him.

1. Maybe you are right. Simmons has a history of this.
2. Deadspin got the length of suspension wrong.
3. It is Spring Break and he has two kids that are in school and he is probably on vacation. The masses at this time of year are NCAA hoops interested and not as much NBA interested and this is a perfect time for him to take vacation time.

With some people these days you take twitter away from them for 3 days they might start offing themselves.

Funny guy

I didn’t listen to the video. See my above comment. I cannot stomach a single word spoken by that bumbling moron. I have lived in PAC10 country my whole life so maybe I have just had more exposure than most and my hatred has festered.

I didn’t listen to the video.
I didn’t either until I saw disagreement in the comments. I understand where you are coming from, but Walton was dissing on First Take. I don’t have much exposure to Walton so I don’t have any hatred of him.

Agree with dawgfather but also wonder how an American citizen can be banned from twitter by an employer. Seems like it’d be crossing a privacy boundary

My last two jobs (healthcare marketing) we had voluminous sections in our Policy and Procedures Manual that spelled out what we could and could not do on social media. I always thought it strange too.

Can they fire skip and just have bill Walton debate people?

This clip shows why Walton is so great. While the homer play by play guy is desperately trying to keep attention on the home team, Walton is ignoring him and laughing at how great the dunk was. He doesn’t give a fuck.
