Walton was a great player and what’s amazing he’s even a better announcer. I watched the game last night, Utah vs Oregon, and it wasn’t close but I kept watching just because of Walton, he was so entertaining. He’s the best commentator out there, insightful, witty, funny, and his old song quotes are great. Keep it coming Bill.

It was rare but yes, in the late 90s some games occasionally for TNT, I remember because Bill Walton was making fun of Lakers fans and had Harlan laughing out loud. That was when they started calling Steve Jones “Cybersnapper” for some reason

Gumbel, Walton and Snapper were a surprisingly solid broadcast team. NBC did the NBA 10x better than any other network.

Simmons Book of Basketball had an entire chapter breaking down NBA announcers. Oscar Robertson was apparently a very bad color guy. Just a stream of “Ohhh” “yesss” “niceeee” after every bucket.
