Texas A&M Has Received Twice as Many BCS Title Bets as Alabama
It seems the public likes them some Johnny Football. According to The Linemakers, Texas A&M has received twice as many futures bets to win the BCS Title as Alabama. The flood of bets has pushed the odds from 15-1 to 8-1. The Tide are 3-1 favorite. The second most popularly bet team is Ohio State.
We’re guessing Joe Casual Fan will be foiled once again. The Heisman winner is returning. Not returning are college football’s best left tackle, an All-American edge rusher and many contributing seniors. There’s a lot to like with Texas A&M, but also a number of outstanding questions.

The schedule is manageable. The Aggies drew Vanderbilt and Missouri from the SEC East. The non-conference slate is pitiful. They still, however, must beat both Alabama and LSU in the same season, let alone beat the SEC East Champion and win the big game itself.

Go get ‘em, Johnny Football. Make your mama and Aggie Nation proud.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:26 AM
Can’t really argue with the bettors’ logic. Given the schedules, I can see people not feeling that Alabama is five times more likely to win the National Title.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:26 AM
Or they could drop one to LSU and Alabama and still make the title game, no? Especially the Alabama game considering it’s in September.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:27 AM
just another reason I hate conference expansion. after only one year, aTm is already trying to move in on Georgia’s annual run at the Paper Champs title. despicable.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:29 AM
Saban has to be loving this. Just absolutely loving this.
/31-20 Bama
March 14th, 2013 at 11:29 AM
You mean back to back SEC East champs, right? Tenn will play in a bowl game soon. It’ll happen.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:31 AM
Can see this due to shitty B1G and OSU’s even shittier schedule.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:31 AM
I don’t view it as an intrusion, but the “Around The Web, From Our Network, etc” stuff is ugly as hell on the page.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:31 AM
as a buckeye fan, i dont see it happening this year…too much youth.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:31 AM
Florida figured out Johnny Football pretty quickly. As did LSU. Anyone who doesn’t believe Bama isn’t running through that film right now is nuts.
A&M goes a very Georgia 9-3 in 2013.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:33 AM
Damn straight. The B1G will be horrible. Offense will be more dynamic. Just gotta pray Louisville also runs the table. Wan’t no part of the SEC this year.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:34 AM
it’s no knock on bama, just the 3-1
March 14th, 2013 at 11:35 AM
They will be top ten ranked to start the year so that will help. As I said shitty schedule. They might stumble once, but I’d be very shocked if they didn’t earn a BCS berf by season’s end.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:35 AM
This is my thinking. Saban will show that game over and over in the summer and use it as motivation. It took Florida 2 quarters and LSU 1 to blow up Texas A&M. It took Bama a half, but that first quarter was 20-0. With all of that, if Bama runs the ball on first and goal 3 times they win the game.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:36 AM
Stanford is a good bet at 15-1.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:36 AM
And then gets blasted by a mid-major in a bowl game?

March 14th, 2013 at 11:37 AM
Offensive line should be beastly. Though I have no clue who will catch passes for them.

Jmac said it was out of his hands. Corporate decision something something with tablets and phones.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:38 AM
Don’t doubt that at all. I was just pointing out that it’s hideous on the page. Looks clunky as fuck.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:41 AM
I believe both the LSU and Florida games were played before the Bama game last year, no? All that game film didn’t help then either.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:41 AM
Jmac said it was out of his hands. Corporate decision something something with tablets and phones.
It’s almost like his options became limited.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:41 AM
no, I meant what I said. Georgia is preseason Paper Champs 9 years running. aTm attempting to stake a claim in that streak is absurd.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:41 AM
OSU defense is gonna let them down at least once, maybe twice. Really green on that side of the ball.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:41 AM
Texas A&M got Bama after the LSUY blood bath. The timing was perfect for them.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:43 AM
I’m sure going to LSU the week before had NOTHING to do with it
March 14th, 2013 at 11:44 AM
A lot of the OSU fans I know (not many) seem to feel this way. The real question is will the let down come against Michigan, thus causing Herban to have another heart attack?

when everything was print, space limitations sucked. now, sometimes unlimirted space sucks
March 14th, 2013 at 11:44 AM
Pac12 north will be brutal again. But I don’t see anyone beating Stanford.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:46 AM
I’m sure it had something to do with it. Physically maybe. But Bama looked absolutely lost in the 1st quarter. Like they didn’t even know JFF was going to scramble.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:47 AM
Guys like Manziel have to be seen live before you can begin to get a handle on them. He’s one of those rare guys in that way. UF, LSU and Bama held him in check after seeing him for 1-2 quarters, but for Bama, that 1-2 quarters was a 20-0 hole.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:48 AM

I could see Oregon beating them, seeing as how outside of last year they waxed the fuck out of them.

No I think it will come mid-year, like the Indiana game. The good thing is the guys getting on the field have talent just green. Like Spence and Underwood on the line, those are top tier recruits in the 2nd year. Also, the Michigan game is in Ann Arbor, so I wouldnt put OSU as a favorite on that yet at this point.

You can access this site from a phone or tablet? Has corporate seen m.thebiglead.com yet?
Is Purdue in West Lafayette? Seem to have lots of trouble there.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:58 AM
they have a pesky game in Fayetteville as well.
March 14th, 2013 at 11:59 AM
I’m a betting man, I’d take TXAM for a BCS title win.
/Roll Tide
March 14th, 2013 at 12:02 PM
damn, those are awesome odds on both those guys.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:02 PM
Is Purdue in West Lafayette? Seem to have lots of trouble there.
I think that WISC game perhaps. Somebody is just going to attempt to control the clock and maul the OSU line straight backwards.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:04 PM
damn, those are awesome odds on both those guys.
McDowell, as much as I love watching him, hasnt won a regular season event in over 2 years.
Simpson, I find very unlikeable but yeah those are decent odds.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:05 PM
Several of those guys at 30, 40, and 50 seem like pretty good ops to cash, scripty.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:11 PM
The youth concerns me. Especially up front on defense.
That said…you’re really clutching at straws trying to find a potential loss on the schedule.
Road trip at Cal maybe?
Wisconsin at home?
Purdue giving them a random game?
Toughest Pre-Michigan game might be at Northwestern.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:16 PM
broken record here … bama consistently struggles against good QBs. There are very few in the SEC thus translating into bama wins. I’m taking aTm again this year.
Which means, that if bama faces osu in the natty this year, I’m taking osu.
/ummmm … no I’m not b/c the b1g sucks and osu is slow.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:17 PM
Yeah it’d be an upset for sure. It’s just an odd situation where they have six new starters on the front seven. It’s not unreasonable they might get a hard lesson early on, hopefully the offense can mitigate some growing pains.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:18 PM
The B1G!!! FEEL THE EXCITEMENT!!
March 14th, 2013 at 12:19 PM
I meant to ask, are those Masters odds or for this week?
Graeme is a solid player though, he’s had a couple Top 10′s already this year. either way, I would jump on either of those guys at 50-1 before I would go with worse odds on someone like DJ, Day or Sergio.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:19 PM
The QB who can’t throw the ball still plays at OSU, right?
March 14th, 2013 at 12:20 PM
A NEB-OSU Big 10 final would be 70-55 Ohio State. Like…that could legitimately happen.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:20 PM
Those odds were posted after Tiger winning on Sunday.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:21 PM
Kinda stupid logic, considering these were his 1st and 7th starts in a college uniform.
Also kinda stupid logic, thinking that Sumlin & Co aren’t going through film figuring out ways to improve and add more wrinkles.
I guess Alabama is the only team that studies film or improves year on year. Hand them the crystal ball.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:22 PM
This sounds like the comment from a Texas A&M fan.

March 14th, 2013 at 12:22 PM
Maybe folks just like A&M 15-1 as value? Is that so wrong?
3-1 seems like shitty value for a MNC
March 14th, 2013 at 12:22 PM
I am largely anti-TIGERISBACK but I think this is the year. Also, Rory has no business having better odds than Phil at Augusta.
Ahahahahahahahah no.

March 14th, 2013 at 12:22 PM
The student becomes the master as Gary Andersen knocks of Urban, would make for a nice Saturday…they just need one of the 17 quarterbacks competing for the position to pan out (I really hope Curt Phillips only stuck around for the free education, otherwise go get a job)
March 14th, 2013 at 12:25 PM
JASON DUFNER 40/1
MATT KUCHAR 30/1
PADRAIG HARRINGTON 60/1
OTHER ??/1
Would be my four bets. $25 on each.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:26 PM
McDowell can’t work it enough to win at Augusta.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:29 PM
It’s hard to call anything “figuring out” concerning a redshirt freshman QB starting in a brand new system, etc. But my enthusiasm is tempered for ’13.
/ they’ll win 8-9 games and Sumlin will leave for the NFL
March 14th, 2013 at 12:33 PM
No and no. That schedule is cookie dough-soft. 10-2 is the worst they should do. And I don’t see Sumlin going to the NFL after just two years at Texas A&M. Not sure NFL teams would take that leap, though I suppose a lot of that depends on what Kelly does in Philly.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:34 PM
I was more commenting on the value of the bet, not really whether or not he would win it.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:34 PM
I would have no problem with this.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:34 PM
You’ve got 8 home games and other than the one against bama the toughest is…??? Vandy I guess. That’s basically 7 automatics. If you only win 8 I will be shocked.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:38 PM
LEE WESTWOOD 25/1
I’d love a wager if you could bet on Westwood for a top 3 finish. To win, not so much.
March 14th, 2013 at 12:42 PM
What he said.
