Watch Nick Diaz Work the Speed Bag For 23 Consecutive Minutes in Preparation For GSP at UFC 158
Nick Diaz takes on Georges St. Pierre for the UFC welterweight title Saturday in Montreal. As you can see from this video that shows Diaz working a speed bag for 23 consecutive minutes, he is in pretty good shape. That should come as no surprise since Diaz often competes in triathlons and is known for his great conditioning. In fact, the only reason this video stands out is because most people will get tired just watching it. And for the record, while this video has over 138k views, I don’t think everyone watched all 23 minutes.

Will MMA just die already? I’m more impressed by the cat who sees himself in the mirror for 23 minutes than some roided freak who goes into an octagon and dry humps a guy into tapping out.

GloriousMullet watched the video of McKayla Maroney and Guillermo on Jimmy Kimmel Live while beating his speedbag for 30 minutes straight

Speed bag is not an easy skill to master.

It isn’t gonna die…so just go to soccer posts and talk about soccer. I used to go to posts that were about stuff I didn’t care about and complain about the stuff I don’t care about, but then I realized that it is pretty stupid to do that.

It will. See: Boxing. Professional.

Boxing is still around.

Barely.

I’ve tried watching a couple times. Just can’t get into it. Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen the best matchups or whatever. I’d be interested in Rousey fighting since she’s a cool chick. But I’m guessing I would have to buy a PPV for that now.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:08 PM
No.

Always funny to see people approach it for the first time. My roommate put one in our basement in college. That thing will give you a great workout. I would put on headphones and use it for 1-1.5 hours every other day. I’d love one at my house but the damn thing makes way too much noise.

hey queefer, glad to see you didn’t hang yourself after the Boldin trade
March 12th, 2013 at 1:09 PM
GSP wins this, no?

Chris Brown’s speedbag is named Rihanna
March 12th, 2013 at 1:11 PM
you mean Octagon(R).
March 12th, 2013 at 1:11 PM
so today, ESPN is bumping Around the Horn and PTI for its free agency coverage. You can’t move two of your more highly rated shows to the deuce for the day? Interesting decision

My gym has one right by the track so when I run I hit it like Dolph Lundgren in Rocky when I go by.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:11 PM
Hell fucking yes. Tony G is coming back for one more year with the Falcons. Sweet.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:12 PM
Yes, barring a Matt Serra incident.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:12 PM
That’s good news. Where do you think the Falcons go in the 1st round now?
March 12th, 2013 at 1:12 PM
If they threw a starving and mangey grizzly into he octagon to take on on someone. Anyone. I’d be sitting in the front row.
Going or paying to see one guy lay on the ground wrap his legs around the other to the point of submission is uh…yeah.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:14 PM
Gonzalez wants to limit his training camp participation. Shit, take the whole damn thing off, Tony. I don’t care.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:15 PM
DL would be my guess. No clue who will be there that late though. I can’t see them taking a RB in the first, even if it would be at 30. I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see them trade out of the round and pick up a 3rd or 4th in the process.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:16 PM
Is this the MMA equivalent of jumping out of a swimming pool?
March 12th, 2013 at 1:16 PM
When they stay on their feet (rarely) I can enjoy it. When it gets down to two dude’s on the ground trying to snap each others’ arms I lose all interest.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:18 PM
With the UFC purging many “boring” fighters expect a lot more wild brawls.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:19 PM
I’d say so. Either by humping or jabbing himself into a decision victory. One thing is guaranteed, he will “apologize” to the fans for not giving them a knockout, even though he didn’t push the action.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:19 PM
Is Jake Shields still around?
March 12th, 2013 at 1:21 PM
I like a good ground fight..as long as they are actually going for submissions or trying to advance their position to ground and pound…the lay and pray fighters are becoming a thing of the past…
March 12th, 2013 at 1:25 PM
mrej, don’t they get penalized for stalling, like in ‘real’ wrestling?
March 12th, 2013 at 1:26 PM
They get stood up if the ref’s head is properly attached to his or her body…there isn’t a penalty.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:26 PM
I’ll agree to that. I’ve seen some exciting ground fights. Lay n Pray fighters used to take advantage of the whole “stay busy” rule though. Just move around enough so the ref couldn’t stand them up. I don’t think points should be awarded for “controlling” your opponent. Couture was the king of that. Just took his opponent to the fence and pinned him for 2-3 minutes at a time.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:27 PM
he’ll be fired if he loses his next fight.
In Pride you did.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:29 PM
Drake’s speedbag is named Chris Brown.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:32 PM
he became the King of Wall-N-Stall in his later years. Put on a clinic in the Vera fight.

If you don’t appreciate the skills, that’s fine. But your posts just sound lazy and stupid. It’s like saying – Football? It’s just a bunch of roided out monsters holding each other while a douchebag entitled QB hands off/throws the ball to a felon.
Go on Fightnext and look up the last UFC on Fuel fights – Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann and Stefan Struve vs. Mark Hunt. See if you’re watching roided out guys roll around on the ground.

I just don’t think people on this site can handle non mainstream sports.
March 12th, 2013 at 1:48 PM
I just think you’re a fucking douche who only comes around to be a self-righteous asshole.

Eh, I posted about it in yesterday’s thread. I don’t think the move makes football or business sense — and you have to at least win one of those for a move to be worthwhile — but at the same time I understand why the Ravens did it and think they’ll be more than fine without him. Good player and I wish him the best in SF.

AP is right, though. That’s the thing. So if you’re right, you’re being helpful. It’s science. Just like girls not being able to get pregnant in the summertime.

Glad I could help
