Mike Wallace Will Take His Talents to South Beach With the Dolphins
Mike Wallace will sign with the Miami Dolphins, pending a physical, according to Jeff Darlington. Last year, Mike Wallace wanted Larry Fitzgerald money. Trey Wingo just said early reports of 5-year, $65 million deal, which would still be a very healthy amount this offseason. Wallace is not one of the top ten receivers, but he is a deep threat that the Miami Dolphins sorely needed, and were willing to pay a large sum to acquire.

I’ve missed you NFL.
March 12th, 2013 at 4:54 PM
Or 20. Or 30. I wouldnt argue against top 40 if someone made that claim.
March 12th, 2013 at 4:54 PM
Hello 3rd round compensatory pick.
Disagree, but he is coming off a down year. Happy he got his money. I’ll miss watching him in the black and gold.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:00 PM
Top 30 for sure, he’s better than guys like Pierre Garcon and Jordy Nelson.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:00 PM
Overpaid. Good job. Good effort.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:01 PM
Dolphins?? You’ve got to watch out for those dolphins…

Ah the jilted lover…chin up, there will be new receivers for your QB to not throw to while on the DL
Any rough estimates about how much longer this is going to be a thing?
March 12th, 2013 at 5:04 PM
Let ask you this, are you done saying Belt?
March 12th, 2013 at 5:05 PM
We are getting to a point where that championship’s getting a little dated…will be taken under advisement
March 12th, 2013 at 5:07 PM
This is a product of the rookie wage cap, tons of salary getting pushed up the veteran players. Wallace’s contract won’t even be in the top of half the league’s #1 WRs in 3 years.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:09 PM
Maybe, but at least those guys can catch the ball. He has no ability to fight through coverage and go up and get the ball (like Bolden). His route running is poor at best. Physical press coverage basically means he will disappear for the entire game.
Take out the quick WR screens and he caught like 40 balls last year.

I would think the state farm commercials ruined The Belt long before father time got to it.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:11 PM
12 Million? LOL.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:12 PM
wallace is overpaid but whatever. Enjoy him running wrong routes and missing balls unless it’s a bomb downfield
March 12th, 2013 at 5:13 PM
5 years, 65 million,
Bold prediction: he will not finish this contract.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:14 PM
hines ward said his veteran leadership would’ve gotten mike wallace an extra year and $10mm.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:20 PM
The thing about Wallace is he is only 26. And despite Coop’s narrative, he was top 10 in catch rate last year and lead the Steelers in Red zone TDs. Miami overpaid a somewhat, but Wallace has produced in the past.
Since 2009, no WR has more 40-yard catches (27) or 40-yard TDs (16) than Mike Wallace. He’s going to be a rich man. Huge loss for Steelers.
Fans want to call him a one trick pony (he is not) but damn he has been good at that trick.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:22 PM
Quarterbacking didn’t do him many favors last year either, Byron Leftwich isn’t doing anybody any good
March 12th, 2013 at 5:24 PM
You really only need your WRs to have two tricks.
1) run
2) catch the ball
I’m not sure a WR who can “catches deep passes” is really as much an insult as praise.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:24 PM
Pittsburgh area buffets disagree.

RRRRRAIDUHS!

I use it on my kids all the time so, it’s pretty much here to stay.
March 12th, 2013 at 5:32 PM
Sweet. Needed a big name WR to stretch the filed for the Phins, I’m not completely sold on him being an elite WR, but its a definite upgrade over the current rip of MIA receivers .
March 12th, 2013 at 5:59 PM
At some point I’ll stop bringing this up but the Dolphins have the 12th pick and (wait for it..) with the rookie salary scale and [Stupid Name] Patterson available it’s much better value to draft him.
Michael Floyd was drafted 13th overall last year and was paid a salary of $390,000 for the season which is much cheaper than what Wallace will get next year.
March 12th, 2013 at 6:08 PM
What people keep forgetting is that Wallace will stretch the field, thus allowing for the intermediate routes run by Bess and Hartline, and whatever TE that MIA decides to pick up via FA or what they have on the roster (Michael Egnew didnt even catch a pass last year).
MIA has not had a deep threat, and I’m not kidding here, since Irving Fryar. That was early-mid 90′s when most of you werent even watching football.
Hartline is a solid, Welker-mold that can catch and good route running. Bess is a the lesser of the two but can benefit from Wallace taking away the safety over the top.
MIA can’t wait for some rookie (Patterson) who may or may not be a started immediately, to help them out. I know the $$$ is crazy, MIA has paid for ALOT worse in the past, but this makes the most sense.
Most everyone here on the board, roots for a team that has a deep threat. MIA has not had one for 20 years! Think about that.
March 12th, 2013 at 6:10 PM
he’s absolutely nothing like wes welker in the cot damned slightest aside from being a honky. hartline’s tall, huge and a deep threat…i.e. the exact opposite thing wes welker is.
March 12th, 2013 at 6:14 PM
Hartline = Welker is the most ridiculous white guy correllary of all time.
March 12th, 2013 at 6:18 PM
Welker reminds me of David Boston.
/may have overcompensated on the post-racial comparison
March 12th, 2013 at 6:21 PM
When I mean Welker mold, I mean slot WR, but whatever, I see you guys are using your professional football scouting abilities by hanging out here on the TBL message boards.
March 12th, 2013 at 6:48 PM
Ted Ginn? Wallace is basically Ted Ginn but he’s had a HOF QB throwing to him.
March 12th, 2013 at 6:50 PM
Wallace is basically Ted Ginn
no.
March 12th, 2013 at 6:51 PM
Welker = John Stockton
March 12th, 2013 at 6:52 PM
pfft..wallace can’t return kicks
March 12th, 2013 at 7:24 PM
Get the sand out of your vagina already. Wallace is a quality receiver. He’s 100x times better than Ted freaking Ginn. Yeesh.
March 12th, 2013 at 11:12 PM
Nate Washington v2.0
March 13th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
hahahaha…nice deflection.
