Tom Crean Screamed at Michigan Assistant Coach Jeff Meyer: “You Helped Wreck the Program” [Video]
In the immediate aftermath of Indiana 72, Michigan 71, instead of looking for someone to hug, Indiana’s Tom Crean had some choice words for Michigan assistant coach Jeff Meyer: “You know what you did. You helped wreck the program! You helped wreck the program!”
What was Crean talking about? Well Meyer is a former Indiana assistant basketball coach – back in the Kelvin Sampson days. Meyer was on the staff when Sampson was cited for impermissible recruiting phone calls. The NCAA slapped Indiana with rules violations. It decimated the program for years, until Crean revived it in 2012, and this year, the Hoosiers are finally a Championship contender again. [via RTV6]

Crean: “A professional misunderstanding I had after the game. On the way to the plane, I talked to him on the telephone … I apologized.”

Probably about how he wrecked the program?

stay classy, Mr. Joannie Harbaugh
March 11th, 2013 at 10:09 AM
And thus ended any chance of FS1 being seen by me.

Best part is the assistant who put his hand in front of the camera, as if that would do anything to help alleviate the situation.

Been awhile since there’s been good coaching hatred in CBB, you’re not seeing anything like John Chaney threatening to kill Calipari in a postgame press conference or Bruce Pearl and the guy who used to coach Detroit refusing to interact going back some 20 years…coaches today are soft

Good riddance. Tell them to get an HD feed worth a fuck while they’re at it.

I have no problem with Fox Soccer HD on my cable system

Crean is such a douchebag.
The real comedy is the revisionist history around here about the Sampson years. Essentially the local media/fanbase have come to the collective decision that Kelvin was the lone gunman and did this all himself and that the fans/media were against it the whole time

Bravo, Fox. Bravo.

Probably about how he wrecked the program?
wasn’t it some recruiting thing?
i’ve never hated 7up more.

So wait, Fox Soccer isn’t going to be turned into FS1? I just assumed considering that without the EPL, all FSC will really have is the Champions League.
March 11th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Crean and his assistant could both try out for the All Gus Malzahn look alike team.
March 11th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Douchey. Crean should be celebrating and realize that if the program was indeed wrecked that makes his turnaround more amazing. Instead thus scene goes on his record and sullies triumph

Vez – he did that when he had the team cut down the nets after they lost to OSU last week
March 11th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
Yeah I guess it’s Fuel or Speed or something that’s getting the switch. Fox Soccer will still have Scotland and Italy, I guess.
March 11th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
Is there a Chrome Extension that will block 7-Up ads and all comments that mention Soccer?
March 11th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
It sounded like Fox Soccer is going to get the shit that FS1 won’t want.
March 11th, 2013 at 10:32 AM
Was going to respond with something vulgar and snide in response but then I clicked on your name.

Awesome. So I’m sorry for fucking 15-year-olds, but they WANTED it. It wasn’t like I raped them. Solid defense.

Fox Soccer does not have Italy any more. Italy and Spain both moved (disappeared) to beIN this season.

I don’t think Crean got the reaction he desired from that confrontation.
March 11th, 2013 at 10:53 AM
What?
March 11th, 2013 at 10:58 AM
Other fans of Big Ten teams hate Crean, no? Love the dynamic; college basketball seriously lacks charisma and villains.
March 11th, 2013 at 11:17 AM
Crean is bad for the sport.
March 11th, 2013 at 11:19 AM
Vez – here the link to the IU story. I like this version because of the headline

it’s well documented that a large portion of the iu fanbase did not like sampson, the players he was recruiting or the manner in which he was doing it. especially ex players, they were pretty vocal about their feelings on sampson. yeah i mean fans are going to support because they want it to work out, but there were a lot of people condemning sampson, beginning to end.
March 11th, 2013 at 11:53 AM
Now I can’t wait for Crean to fuck up the program on his own.
March 11th, 2013 at 11:58 AM
Now I can’t wait for Crean to fuck up the program on his own
id say he’s done just the opposite so far, 5-0 against the top 10. you may be waiting a while.

The hair, the glasses, the clothes…they all scream Dwight Schrute from The Office. However, nothing is more Schrutey than the goofy half-smile he has while being whisked away after the exchange.

You can take the man out of Mt Pleasant, but you can’t take the Mt Pleasant out of the man. Classles move by Crean.

Crean is the bad guy here?
Every commenter in this thread (I think and not including me) are vomit.

urban meyer screamed at indiana “you haven’t been ranked once since 1993, why can’t you recruit five top 150 players per year?”
