Percy Harvin Traded to the Seahawks, Pending Physical, Per Jay Glazer [UPDATE: Seattle's First Round Pick, Two More Picks Involved]
The relationship between Percy Harvin and the Minnesota Vikings is coming to an end, if the reports from Adam Schefter and Jay Glazer are true. According to Schefter, the Vikings are in discussions with Seattle about a possible trade. Jay Glazer just added that the trade has been completed pending a physical. Last month, while at the Combine, GM Rick Spielman said the Vikings had “no intent” to trade Harvin. His nose was reportedly growing while he said it, because the leaks coming out of Minnesota last month involved a irreparable rift in the relationship between Harvin and coach Leslie Frazier.
Now imagine the possibility of Harvin with Russell Wilson, and making big plays along with the read option combo of Wilson and Lynch. Harvin has a reputation as a difficult player with a sense of entitlement. Pete Carroll comes from a background in college of managing five-star talents in his own unique way. I suppose if there is a coaching style where it could work, it is in Seattle.
You know Minnesota wanted to downplay all the reports of Harvin being disgruntled and the conflict with Frazier. The specific picks have yet to emerge. I could see Seattle’s late second being the cost, though I will throw out a guess of a 3rd plus a conditional pick in 2014 on Harvin playing a certain number of snaps by being healthy/a good citizen for a year.
[Update: Schefter says it will involve Seattle's first round pick in 2013. I'm a bit shocked, but if Minnesota was determined to make a trade, they got the best they could.]
[Update #2: Jay Glazer says compensation is this year's 1st (25th overall), a 7th rounder, and a "mid-round" pick next year]

This will be a deadly combo for the 6 games Harvin is healthy for all season.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:13 PM
Sucks for Christian Ponder.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:14 PM
AD didn’t take PEDs for this.

The real loser? Adrian Peterson. Leslie is gonna have to ride that train till it breaks….
March 11th, 2013 at 1:16 PM
Seattle-SF rivalry heating up just a bit more.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:17 PM
Harvin is a badass. I also think it’s great for him to go to a state where weed is legal. Nothing bad could possibly come of this.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:17 PM
They could draft Keenan Allen then Tavon Austin with their 1st round picks.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:18 PM
Vikings scored more points / game without Harvin than they did with him last season.
Great pickup, but I sense “overvalued.”
March 11th, 2013 at 1:19 PM
Who? Did SEA give up their No. 1? As I see it now on NFL.com Minny only has one first round pick.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:20 PM
I read that it’s assumed Minnesota will be getting Seattle’s 1st rounder and another pick.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:21 PM
See ya, Percy. It was nice having a legit kick returner for the first time since David Palmer. But you’re not worth Calvin Johnson money, buddy.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:21 PM
He’s going to be a barrel of fun when he’s a free agent after this season.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:21 PM
Thats the rumor.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:22 PM
Yeah, but he gets to go home and pound Samantha nee’ Steele every night, so it’s all good.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:22 PM
So everyone seems to think Minnesota just let their “best” player walk. Interesting.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:22 PM
Woo hoo!
March 11th, 2013 at 1:22 PM
Damn. If Minny landed SEAs No. 1 pick I say bravo. Get rid of a team cancer and get another No. 1? Sounds like a deal to me.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:23 PM
What? No.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:23 PM
Dude is a punk who can’t stay healthy. Also, anyone saying Harvin is the best offensive player on a team that includes AP should be beaten with a hose.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:23 PM
So Vikings to make a strong effort for Jennings now?
March 11th, 2013 at 1:25 PM
Is he really going to command a big pay day? Soon-to-be-30-year-old coming off of an injury-plagued year is never a good thing.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:26 PM
I wouldn’t. Let someone else overpay for him.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:26 PM
I hope not. He smells Alvin Harper-ish to me.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:26 PM
Outside of last year, Harvin did not miss many games. Lots of practices, but few games. It’ll be interesting to see how he does with that team. And how much Seattle’s giving him in a contract
March 11th, 2013 at 1:27 PM
Samantha Steele seems like the type of person who has a “don’t tread on me” sticker on her car.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:29 PM
Is Sidney Rice still alive? Is he coming back to this Seattle team?
March 11th, 2013 at 1:29 PM
That and a “God Hates Fags” sticker.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:29 PM
hope not. just throw it up to Greg Childs when he comes back and let Jarius Wright run the plays for Harvin out of the back field.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:29 PM
Fuck UPS. FedEx all the way.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:30 PM

March 11th, 2013 at 1:30 PM
DeAngelo Hall was released.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:30 PM
Golden Taint, Baldwin, Rice, Harvin and Miller. Lotta options for Russel.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:32 PM
come on down to Detroit, we will take any warm body with secondary experience.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:32 PM
They’re going to be damn good next year. They’re also one of those teams that no one will want to play on the road. If they can get the top seed I don’t see a team walking into that stadium in Jan and beating them.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:32 PM
Instead of Tebowing….Pondering.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:32 PM
23 and 25 in round 1. Good for Minnesota.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:33 PM
That would actually be a good pick up if the price was right. Though I doubt he’ll allow the price to be right.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:33 PM
This. And hell yeah to DeAngelo Hall. Too bad Gamble retired. Need Hillbilly to restructure for some more cap space. Better not blow it all on Reggie fucking Bush.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:33 PM
John Abraham was up meeting with Seattle last week
March 11th, 2013 at 1:35 PM
Didn’t their really good DE blow out his knee in the playoffs? Forget his name.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:35 PM
DeAngelo Hall was released.
Thoroughly unsurprising. Washington has better, cheaper options for the secondary on the bench.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:35 PM
FWIW, ESPN’s sources, so I guess other news outlets, say the deal is contingent on Harvin agreeing to a new contract.

March 11th, 2013 at 1:36 PM
I like having Pete Carroll in the NFL. He’s completely off the grid with some of these moves. Hilarious.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:36 PM
Bush would be a great pick up for DET. Not sure how much he wants though.
Give him 30 snaps a game and let him loose. I was surprised ATL cut him. I think he still has 8-10 sacks in him.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:36 PM
I really can’t wait to see what sort of contract Seattle gave Harvin.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:36 PM
Can they sign him just to play the Bears? He’d be a hall-of-famer.
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2010/10/deangelo-hall-if-i-played-jay-cutler-each-week-id-be-in-the-hall-of-fame/1#.UT4WKKLCaSo

And somehow they seem to work out. Or at least they did last season.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:37 PM
Some things are more important than winning.
Got some guys stereotyping Samantha Ponder so I will continue with my racebaiting.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:37 PM
This wasn’t so much off of the grid, but I agree with you completely. He and his GM do what they do and they don’t care about what anyone says. Seems to have worked out thus far.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:39 PM

March 11th, 2013 at 1:39 PM

March 11th, 2013 at 1:39 PM
Cant imagine why anyone would make religious assumptions about a Liberty University grad.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:40 PM
Pretty much this.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:40 PM
The NFL needs more trades to make March-July more bearable. The draft can only do so much before it becomes humdrum.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:40 PM
Also I don’t even know what
means given he just went from an awful team with a bullshit QB situation to a very good team with an exciting young QB.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:40 PM
Why are people acting like those two are anything better than average? And Rice can’t stay on the field. Miller is above average at best. Whoopdee shit.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:40 PM
I’m hoping Dmitroff has something up his sleeves. I was so happy that they cut Dunta, but it quickly turned into sadness when I found out they also released abraham. Maybe they think that Cliff Avril will sign with them?
March 11th, 2013 at 1:41 PM
Can Seattle use a franchise tag on Harvin next year if they don’t sign a deal?
March 11th, 2013 at 1:41 PM
She’s pretty well chronicled religious nut. And you can’t go to Liberty without being one…
I like to think that they’ve turned the stain on the rug in the President’s Office that his putrefying body created into a shrine to Jerry Falwell.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:41 PM
Please make this happen. Cliff Avril is garbage.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:42 PM
The Yankees’ solution to be injured/old is to look at Derrek Lee, Scott Rolen, and Chipper Jones. That will work.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:42 PM
Still waiting on Gonzalez to make up his mind about coming back next season
March 11th, 2013 at 1:43 PM
I want no part of this and I don’t think ATL will pay him what some other team will.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:43 PM

Are they not cognizant of his status as ‘retired’.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:43 PM
I know Wilson runs some, but in that offense, are his pass attempts downfield enough to keep everyone involved? I haven’t seen their spread enough to know.

March 11th, 2013 at 1:50 PM
Not really. ATL isn’t trading for, or signing, a TE. They need to know by the Draft what his plans are.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:53 PM
There are some pretty strict religious schools around here, and my impression (with a big enough sample size) is that mostly they exist because it’s the only way religious nut parents will let their kids go away to school.
Pretty much every kid from those schools (and there are 3 around here) is terrified of being tagged in a picture with alcohol in it finding it’s way back to the school/tagged on Facebook, or a member of the opposite sex being caught in their room.
They are strange paranoid places, almost uniformly with paranoid parents who are terrified of what the big bad Godless world will do to their children.
March 11th, 2013 at 1:53 PM
Yeah, but if he says now that he is definitely retiring, wouldn’t that free up some money for free agents? I’m guessing in that case, they can get a cheap rookie to fill the hole.

One can only hope.

Yeah, I think he’s pitched his way into starting the season at AAA. I’m not worried long term, this is, I think, his first season at big league spring training. When you throw in the fact that Bedard and Fields have pitched well in spring so far and Humber has been decent, I don’t think there will be room in the rotation for Cosart.
March 11th, 2013 at 2:01 PM
how many beers out of 30 have you drank so far today?
March 11th, 2013 at 2:02 PM
Fields? In no world is he a starter. I think the Sox regret not protecting him given some of the injuries, but holding command for multiple innings isn’t gonna happen. Good 7th inning guy, and that’s about it for him.
/a different Fields?

All that said. Harvin and Wilson in the read option could be a real pain in the ass for the rest of the league.
March 11th, 2013 at 2:09 PM
Jordan Lyles has been absolutely shelled in his two spring starts. He was figured to be the 3 starter out of camp, but with his shittastic performance so far this spring, I don’t know if I want him anywhere but Oklahoma City. Not sure if he has any options left though.

I just had the greatest breakfast ever.
Toast an English Muffin.
Fry four (or five, or six) pieces of bacon in a cast iron skillet. Drain on the dominos box from three days ago.
Throw in a quarter stick of butter. Scramble four (or five, or six) eggs in a bowl generously seasoning with salt, pepper and any other seasoning you have in the cabinet.
Cook those bitches.
Eat them after finding a Bud Light Platinum already opened but never drank from the night before (actually from two hours before).
Thank me later.

Yeah, I’m not saying they are ‘bad’, but for someone from public schools/college and who refuses to be told what to do in his personal life, knowing people from there was a shock, to say the least.
