DeMarcus Cousins and Mike Dunleavy Got Tangled Up, then Cousins Yelled at Dunleavy, Then Elbowed Him in the Head [Video]
DeMarcus Cousins remains the most talented loose cannon in the NBA. During the third quarter of Sunday’s Kings – Bucks game, Mike Dunleavy Jr. awkwardly tried to box out DeMarcus Cousins. Dunleavy got low and it resulted in himself, Cousins, Drew Gooden and Jason Thompson on the ground. Cousins writhed around in pain before jumping up looking for the culprit. Cousins needed to be escorted back to the bench where he could calm down.
Too bad nobody can tame the beast that is DeMarcus. He continued to stew on the bench during the timeout. When the teams went back to the floor, Cousins went up to Dunleavy to tell him that if anyone was going to end DeMarcus Cousins’ career prematurely, it was would be DeMarcus Cousins. This resulted in a double technical foul. Seconds later the ball was inbounded, Dunleavy and Cousins got “tangled” up and Cousins hit Dunleavy with an elbow in the back of the head. Gate.
The ejection was his league-leading third. At the time of the ejection, Cousins had 24 points on just 12 shots to go along with 10 rebounds. The important thing is that he showed the Bucks how tough he was.
Many minutes after Cousins was ejected, Jimmer Fredette (!) and Cole Aldrich (!?) helped engineer a comeback from 15-points down with 3:47 remaining in the 4th quarter. The final play of the game saw Jimmer intentionally miss a free throw to himself and not get a foul call. Sure, the Kings still lost, but at least Tyreke Evans got a couple extra shots off down the stretch. Free Jimmer!

I’m glad to see his extended stay in college helped him mature into the grown man you see today.
/Loved it when DC said “call me” to Mississippi State’s crowd

Dunleavy almost took out his knee, fuck that guy. Could you imagine the shame of fucking Mike Dunleavy ruining you’re career?

Looked like he kind of elbowed him in the nuts too. Cousins needed to chill out, but I would have been pretty pissed.

Aside from Eric Bledsoe, the freshmen on that UK team were not ready to go pro. I laughed when Orton decided to go pro. The guy barely played for UK and it’s no shock that he is a d-leaguer if even still there

That was a coach Cal team.

Perhaps you should spend the entire halftime in the bathroom stall, sir.

Trade him to Detroit!

this year’s UK team has as many non-NBA ready freshman as that 09-10 team but I figure a few will go and never do anything in the NBA.

I think I saw him on the Thunder’s bench recently. From what I understand, his dad had as much to do with him leaving; more so than Cal, I believe. Quotes like “Daniel would be as good or better than DMC if he got the same amount of playing time blah, blah, blah…” come to mind.

I thought he was a Gillespie recruit. Would’ve been fitting. I’m very sorry for the confusion.

The only one I would understand would be Nerlens. Cauley-Stein has tools that scouts enjoy, but how much room for growth does the NBA allow, right Daniel Orton?

That was a dirty play from Dunleavy that was reminiscent of his gritty, gutty, dirty father. Cousin’s elbow is about the third worst egregious act committed in that series of plays and the only one in that set committed by him.

Wait…you think Dunleavy meant to hit his knees with Cousins?

Someone to root for.

No, Darrell

cousins is a prick, but dunleavy is probably the biggest douche in the league.

he was out of position for a legit box out, just like he was out of position to stop Marcus Thornton from blowing by him. If boxing out was his initial concern, he would have never left the King player that was to his left. Yeah, in my opinion, the fact that he waited until the last second to engage Cousins, by getting low as Cousins was running is dirty because it exposes his or any big man’s knees to injury. I don’t understand why people think Cousins shouldn’t have been pissed.

Yes Peerless. The low bridge, and the sneaky right elbow that didn’t connect that came behind it were worse. Cousins’s elbow was retaliatory
