Anquan Boldin Traded to the 49ers For a 6th Round Pick
Anquan Boldin has been traded by the Baltimore Ravens according to the Baltimore Sun’s Aaron Wilson. (ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed.) Boldin, who caught 6 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl against the Niners is headed to San Francisco in exchange for a 6th round draft pick. According to USA TODAY Sports, Boldin was unwilling to take a pay cut in the final season of his contract. In the Ravens’ Super Bowl-winning postseason alone, Boldin had 22 catches, 380 yards and 4 touchdowns. I wonder if Joe Flacco is regretting that big contract yet?

Boldin was incredible in the playoffs. Ravens can’t see the forest for the trees. Who is their gazillion dollar quarterback going to throw to now?
March 11th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
Late Christmas gift from John to Jim?
March 11th, 2013 at 4:28 PM
Well done Ozzie
March 11th, 2013 at 4:30 PM
There’s this thing called the draft. Also still have Smith, Jones, Doss, Pitta, Dickson etc.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:32 PM
This is great; Victor Cruz has hired Tom Condon as his agent. Things just got interesting.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:33 PM
I doubt it.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:33 PM
wow. The Cardinals are never going to be competitive in the NFC West again
March 11th, 2013 at 4:33 PM
Decent, average, average, average and average. Congrats, Baltimore. This thing called the draft also has supposedly the worst crop of skill position players in years.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:34 PM
Is this trade a prelude to the niners trading for Revis now?
March 11th, 2013 at 4:36 PM
Without him, they don’t even make the Super Bowl. Bailed Flacco’s ass out a slew of times with superb catches.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:36 PM
GOD DAMMIT!
This blows, but I’m at the point in my fandom that I trust Ozzie Newsome no matter what he does. It’s been real, Q.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:36 PM
There’s some Cruz to the Vikings chatter, ugh.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:37 PM
I was going to make a snide comment about the Ravens offense, but their track record has been pretty good recently (Rice, Torrey Smith, Pitta, Pierce) after years of not being able to draft a decent player on offense.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:37 PM
The Flacco contract will be hilarious in 2-3 years.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:37 PM
There has to be performance escalators. If that’s all it takes to get the postseason MVP…wow.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:37 PM
I wonder if Joe Flacco is regretting that big contract yet?
I’ll go with no on this.
While he was the best player on the field at times during the SB run, tough to question Ozzie’s track record.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:37 PM
A solid move by the Niners. Guessing that Mario Manningham is toast.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:38 PM
dirt making a comment about it on Twitter does not qualify as “chatter”
March 11th, 2013 at 4:38 PM
Somebody put Queefer on suicide watch
March 11th, 2013 at 4:38 PM
Hernia’d by Hernia. Without Boldin Flacco’s contract would be incredibly flaccid indeed.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:38 PM
It’s going to get renegotiated in 3 years, no way they go into Year 4 with a $29.8MM cap hit.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:39 PM
also keep in mind that the Ravens were able to get Boldin for relatively cheap. I wouldn’t worry about them.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:39 PM
Victor Cruz has Oakland Raiders written all over him.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:39 PM
Dude just celebrated a Super Bowl win. I think he’ll be fine for a while.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:40 PM
There’s some Cruz to the Vikings chatter, ugh.
Condon is also Eli’s agent so a restructuring is probable. I keep hearing chatter about the Rams and this was before the events of the last few hours happened.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
Toughest division?
March 11th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
Still my trusted source on all things The Following though
March 11th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
So, who’s gonna sign Beanie Wells?
/ would be a solid backup for most teams
// will probably be the starter in Miami
March 11th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
Got it from a Paul Charchian tweet, but it is still Twitter.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:41 PM
seriously though, that would be the most Vikings WR signing ever.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:42 PM
Trade up and take [Stupid Name]Patterson or Robert Woods who is slipping in the draft.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:42 PM
This is really kind of depressing. Balderdash.
/Whatever, we won the Super Bowl
//Yes, we
March 11th, 2013 at 4:43 PM
With the rookie salary scale it’s dumb to take on veteran contracts like that.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:44 PM
Bradshaw to Arizona
March 11th, 2013 at 4:45 PM
Jennings would be even worse. Cruz wouldn’t be that bad I don’t think, but Eli makes him look much better than he is
March 11th, 2013 at 4:45 PM
Greg Jennings at $10M per is still a possibility, that would be the most Vikings WR move ever
March 11th, 2013 at 4:46 PM
Do it.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:47 PM
Vikes should go all-in on Dexter McCluster to fill the Harvin void.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:47 PM
A solid move by the Niners. Guessing that Mario Manningham is toast.
he’ll probably be on IR the entire season. His knee and leg got ruined in like week 17
March 11th, 2013 at 4:48 PM
Randy Moss to Baltimore, where he will half-ass all those passes that the Ravens receivers bailed Flacco out on.
/ Nice grammar at the end there
March 11th, 2013 at 4:49 PM
Or draft Tavon Austin in the 1st round…
March 11th, 2013 at 4:49 PM
Vikings have to do something. Those shit ass Razorback receivers ain’t gonna cut it.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:50 PM
Oh without a doubt. And since he’ll most likely be good-but-not-amazing, he’ll have to take a pay cut.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:50 PM
Will he be there? Dude is going to be a hot commodity.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:51 PM
thanks for all the reminders that the Vikings will indeed find a way to fuck up at WR, like they have done so many times in the past 10 years.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:51 PM
Greg Jennings at $10M per is still a possibility, that would be the most Vikings WR move ever
Anything more than $5 million guaranteed would be an awful idea. The guy see more time in uniform while filming Old Spice commercials last year.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:53 PM
You’d be dumb to think this is a bad trade.
Boldin $6 million:
65 921 14.2 4TD
T.Y Hilton: $390,000
50 91 861 17.2 7td
Hilton is an extreme example but fuck it, you can try 15 times for T.Y Hilton at those prices.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:54 PM
Would Danny Amendola to the Vikings be a more Vikings WR move than Jennings? Just trying to get my bearings here.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:54 PM
Wide Receiver U. Zach Rogers will be a Welker type guy later rounds. Thas what tha interwebs tell me
March 11th, 2013 at 4:55 PM
I actually meant it as a joke thinking he was too small to be a 1st rounder, but apparently mocks now have him going mid-1st, so maybe he won’t be.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:56 PM
I think of Tenn’s offensive line, their WRs and their QB and I can’t help but laugh. How they were so inept is beyond me. I know Bray is a mental midget, but they weren’t even bowl eligible. That blows my mind.
March 11th, 2013 at 4:57 PM
The most Vikings move would be to somehow sign Denario Alexander, then have every Vikings fan talk themselves into him having a huge year, then sit back and watch him get 30 catches for 250 yards and 1 TD. See also: Simpson, Jerome; Berrian, Bernard; Bates, D’Wayne; Taylor, Travis.

Most talent they’ve had in a while. Thanks Doolander (copyright: Husker)

March 11th, 2013 at 4:59 PM
The devolved into a one-player-stand-and-watch team.
/Two best skill players in the draft are Patterson and Lacey
March 11th, 2013 at 5:00 PM
Defense was terrible, though. And they didn’t have that much talent, either. Offense was loaded though.
March 11th, 2013 at 5:00 PM
Patterson was a badass.
March 11th, 2013 at 5:01 PM
great move by the Niners.

Niners-seahawks are going to be all out streetfights next season
March 11th, 2013 at 5:09 PM
Really want to watch this. I’m gonna needa drink though
Re: Lacey, That spin move in the title game. Whoa
March 11th, 2013 at 5:09 PM
By “hilarious” you mean “re-worked”? Pretty sure it was set up to be like Brady, re-done every few years to change the cap hit/guarantees.
March 11th, 2013 at 5:10 PM
Niners-seahawks are going to be all out streetfights next season
most of the country will be stuck watching Denver/Chiefs
March 11th, 2013 at 5:10 PM
Hernia’s waddle just became a skip.
March 11th, 2013 at 5:11 PM
Worst waste of a special talent on a no-good sorry pathetic team. Cussing rampage in 3..2..
March 11th, 2013 at 5:13 PM
Hernia’s waddle just became a skip.
And then he needed a five minute breather. That skip was taxing.
March 11th, 2013 at 5:14 PM
considering Niners/Hawks would be the late game, it’s more accurate to say that we’d be stuck watching Dallas who gets on national television far more than they deserve to.
March 11th, 2013 at 5:14 PM
Larry Fitzgerald says hi
March 11th, 2013 at 5:15 PM
Boldin’s worth more than a 6th rd pick. Bargains are everywhere. Just gotta know where to shop.
Boldin and Crabtree aren’t burners, but those intermediate routes are gonna get worked next year.
March 11th, 2013 at 5:18 PM
Boldin, Crabtree, Davis >>>>>>>>> Harvin, Rice, Baldwin, Tate, Miller, whoever else
March 11th, 2013 at 7:22 PM
Bad move for a couple reasons. One, a guy coming off that performance with plenty left in the tank deserves his money. And two, they didn’t get anything for him or free up enough money to make any difference with their free agents. And frankly, I’d rather have Boldin back than Ellerbe or Kruger. Bad football move coupled with a bad business decision. Pretty shitty job, IMO.
All that said, the Ravens will be fine. They still have pitta, Jones and Torrey. Boldin had a mediocre regular season (albeit with camcam calling the plays) and tends to drop balls. I don’t blame for for not taking a pay cut and I’m not happy he’s gone at all, but pretending like Boldin was the main reason the Ravens won is absurd.
