Tim Brando Quotes Judy Garland and Bill Raftery Mentions Onions as Creighton Punches NCAA Ticket [Video]
All, College Basketball, Video March 10th. 2013, 4:55pm
Creighton beat Wichita State, 68-65, to capture the Missouri Valley Tournament title, and both Bill Raftery and Tim Brando got extremely excited during the final minute of play. After Malcolm Armstead nailed a 3-pointer to pull the Shockers within one, Raftery dropped an onions reference. The Blue Jays scored for a three-point bulge, and Wichita State’s 3-pointer to send the game into overtime misfired, prompting Brando to quote Judy Garland: “meet me in St. Louis, meet me at the fair.”

Fun game. One could do a lot worse than Raftery and Brando calling hoops. The right amount of excitement.
/A Gus Johnsonless tourney is a good thing.

Am I crazy or did Raftery at one point say that he thought only one Shocker player could play on Creighton? Seems like both he and Brando went into this game knowing about McDermott and little else.

taking a shot at Gus for no reason, KC? That’s low, man.

there are many reasons. Sorry that your love for Gus has blinded you to the fact that he’s not a good announcer. He’s a hyper, over the top announcer who takes attention away from the game.

Gus gets excited about little things and yells for no reason. There’s a reason CBS didn’t bring him back. I listened to him do a soccer match today. tough sledding

For no reason? He is horrible. Your own writers dislike him. Not liking Gus isn’t a novel opinion.

Raftery is your alcoholic uncle. Brando is the guy from AA he calls when he feels like drinking. They work well together.
And now I’m listening to Clark Kellogg just say words to say them. Blah blah blah.

He should watch Verne, McDonough, Dan Shulman, Marv, and others to see how to properly show emotion as a play by play man.

Harlan, Kerr, and Reggie Miller were on the VCU-Temple game today. Harlan and Kerr are great. Reggie is horrendous

I watched the last 7 minutes of that are, rooting for the Shockers, though I didn’t bet on it. Can’t stand McDermoot. He’s a great player but est too much love from the media and announcers. He pushes off ALOT and never gets called for the foul, always the reverse. Just like the post up on WSU’s Baker at the end of the game. McDermott takes the flop and the referee calls baker for the foul. Fock Ceighton. I’m picking them to go out early just for spite, though usually that burns me.

I always wish for this to be Wichita State’s logo

If KU ends up getting a #1, Creighton will be an 8 or 9 in that region. Book it. Done.
I think they have a run in them. They shoot lights out and rebound, at least on the defensive end. Their guard play is decent/won’t kill them, and McDermott will play well against teams that haven’t seen him twice a year for 3 years. 8/9 seems to be their destiny if Bracketology is to be believed, and all of the #1′s this year will have flaws. They’ll upset someone.

I like Gus, but he’s absolutely terrible announcing basketball games.
