We’ll be doing NCAA Tournament profiles for all automatic bid conference winners leading into the NCAA Tournament. See below for previous team profiles.

Conference/Record: Ivy League (19-9)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts

Famous Alums/Attendees: The most notable Harvard grads are, of course, Jeremy Lin, Michael Schur (Ken Tremendous), and Conan O’Brien.

Social Media: @hoopsatharvard is the official Twitter account for Harvard basketball. John Ezekowitz writes about the team, and college basketball, at Harvard Sports Analysis.

Random Fun Fact: The list of movies set at Harvard is long, including The Social Network, Good Will Hunting, Love Story, Soul Man, and How High.

Tournament History/Most Recent: Harvard returns for the 2nd year in a row after not appearing in the tournament since 1946. They have yet to win a tournament game, losing last year to Vanderbilt as a 12 seed.

Record vs. Projected At-Larges and Bubble Teams: 1-4

Good Wins/Bad Losses: Harvard defeated California in Berkeley, then lost to St. Mary’s by just a point two days later. In addition to splitting with Princeton, Harvard lost at Penn and Columbia.

Notable Player(s): Freshman point guard Siyani Chambers leads the team in assists and is second in scoring.

All-Important Rankings: 93 (RPI), 102 (Pomeroy), 114 (Seven Overtimes)

Outlook/Seed: Harvard will most likely be a 15 seed. They will rely on a deliberate pace and need their three point shooters to be hot to advance. Harvard plays with a very short bench with Chambers, Wesley Saunders, Laurent Rivard, and Christian Webster all playing over 33 minutes a game.
