Amar’e Stoudemire Out Six Weeks With Knee Injury, No Longer Has Any Good Knees
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire is back on the shelf, this time with a knee injury. He’s scheduled to have surgery this week on what the Knicks are officially calling a right knee debridement. It’s the same procedure Stoudemire underwent before the season, except that operation was done on his left knee. The poor guy has officially run out of knees and will be out for six weeks. What a mess.
It’s really a shame because Stoudemire had recently been showing wonderful signs of life and appeared to have some promising hop in his step, a far cry from the hesitant, stationary game we had become so accustomed to seeing. Though even with all the positive signs, it had become increasingly difficult to watch Amar’e play and not think he was an awkward landing away from yet another setback. And here we are again. He’s just become that guy. It’s sad to witness such a rapid fall for a guy who, not too long ago, was the focal point of the offense.

No insurance on his contract, so the Knicks are on the hook regardless.

but wouldn’t a medical retirement take his salary off the cap?
