Frazer McLaren Knocked David Dziurzynski Out Cold in a Hockey Fight [Video]
Last night Toronto’s Frazer McLaren and Ottawa’s David Dziurzynski dropped their gloves off a face off just 26-seconds into the game. Rarely do hockey fights have such satisfying or scary endings. While it was more than two hits, it did end with Dziurzynski hitting the floor. Hard. A right from McLaren knocked him out cold and he dropped face-first to the ice.
This amazing picture of the knockout was taken by the Toronto Star’s David Cooper.
This is the polar opposite of the McLaren – Dziurzynski fight.

NHL guy said the Leafs guy had 120+ fights in juniors/professional hockey. The Senators guy, not nearly as much. “Mismatch”, the analyst called it.
Scouting reports should cover that as well, right. You’re the rookie, taking on an established fighter? Good luck, and let me know where to send the flowers.

Damn. That has to be one of the most embarrassing moments I’ve seen recently. I mean, in boxing it’s expected that you’ll get KTFO, but this doesn’t seem to happen that often in hockey. Dude got his ass whipped, and then had to be helped off in front of a packed arena.

I cringed when I saw the end result of that fight. You could tell McLaren felt horrible as he was skating off to the penalty box. Randy Carlyle after the game said “I only wish the trainers would have got there sooner.” Chris Neil & Colton Orr fought a few minutes later into the first period…you would think they may laid off from dropping the gloves after seeing that.

Fights that start as the puck drops in the 1st period are a god damn embarrassment.

Fighting is the only thing either of those players (Orr, and to a lesser extent, Neil) do particularly well, so I’m not terribly surprised.
Neil is a savvy guy, so I can see him getting Orr to go with him simply to keep his team from sagging after watching one of their teammates get dropped.
