Jenn Brown Has Left ESPN 6-12 Months After You Probably Forgot She Worked There

Jenn Brown has left ESPN according to Sports Illustrated’s Richard Deitsch. Brown used to be considered ESPN’s next Erin Andrews, but when even we couldn’t find an excuse to mention Brown over the last eight months, you should have assumed that wasn’t going to happen. Brown joined ESPN full time in 2010, got some endorsement deals and did the sideline reporter thing before quietly fading into background college football and X Games broadcasts in 2012.

Depending on whom you believe, she was either passed over for the sideline reporter job Samantha Ponder got, or lost interest in sideline reporting once she got married.

There is no word on what the former Florida Gators softball player will do next, but an ESPN spokesperson did go on the record to wish her well.

Interesting… I found an archive link where apparently TBL engages in rumor-mongering about Cano and a trainer and PEDs. I wonder if he included himself in the “crap he had to deal with before” list.

I looked for Cano rumors in the past, found this tweet

Which linked to a BLS page which wasn’t there. I just wanted to see how far you went with the rumors you listed. Finding a copy of it through google though, it doesn’t seem like the post is written very accusatory of Cano specifically… just speculation.
Looks like “If you want to know where the next suspensions are coming from, look who worked with Angel Presinal”. Followed by a list of players.
It’s not as outright accusatory, but I don’t think it’s completely fair to malign the other writer from the other day, given his track record. If a month goes by and nothing, rip him to shreds. I get why MLB writers with no knowledge would be skeptical and not discuss the matter having no basis to talk about it(Olney), but Joe Pesceglie (?) acknolwedged that, reported what he did, and we all move on. Part of journalism is going with your sources despite others not reporting it, just like you had to with the ESPN sitting on the Te’o story.

I also think that many of the posts here are set up to generate discussion… I don’t think an agree-a-thon really is that interesting.
I thought that was a fairly worded disagreement with your post though. Actually, IIRC I think the first four paragraphs were fine and it was just one where you resorted to ad hominem type of attacks, that I thought weren’t fair. That wasn’t a personal attack on you, but I think most of the commentariat here would agree your views on baseball often vacillate between “biased” and “trolling”.
The Cano post I couldn’t access so I didn’t know… I said it WASN’T accusatory, as I thought from the piece I could access.

The only thing someone can say about the Cano/PED stuff is:
“I have no idea, no personal information, but someone who was right once, seems to have information he believes in again”. I’m sure there have been times you had real information and have been dismissed because you weren’t big enough an entity yet.

I dont get the bitching about every post either. Some posts arent good. These guys are putting out 10 to 15 pieces a day besides researching the roundup.
Sunday, I got in JMacs kitchen for a horrible post in terms of spelling and then even more so when he corrected it without acknowledgement. But then its over for me. Its his blog. He created it out of nothing and it zoomed by Deadspin as the best Sports blog on the net many moons ago.
I think the staff could use some diversity–an old guy wouldnt be a bad idea (hint, hint). I think the drumbeating for paying these college kids is just dumber than hell. I hate soccer. I sort of like Hockey.
Hells Bells, EVERYTHING doesnt suck.
