Well said. Way too many teams make the MLS playoffs. And, just maybe one day the sport will be popular enough to run the same seasonal time as the European professional leagues.

Toronto FC has never made the playoffs. In real sport towns MLSE would not be tolerated, those mofos would be dragged out into the streets and shot.

Whoever has the best record out of the two teams in the final gets to host the championship. I would say that is very important.

NBA eliminates 14 of 30 after a painstaking 82 games. Add on very little parity due to many factors makes it the worst structured league of the major sports in this country.

I agree with you though that MLS should change its playoff format. It seems to be a big discussion so far this year, so I can see some type of change happening for next season.
