At a HS in the North Atl burbs, a QB was said to have been 21 (was still 20 when the season started) and his sophomore brother WR was 19. Their dad was the head coach and held them back while in elementary school.

In our conference in Michigan you couldn’t play HS sports if you were 19 when the season began but I knew a lot of people who were held back one year for sports reasons. 3-4 years seems crazy to me.

I think there’s now an age limit on how long you can still be in school

I believe in GA, to participate in sports, you can’t be 21 when the school year starts – but you can turn 21 during the school year – something like that.
