Exactly. If you’re having swing doubts, it’s still that much more difficult. In golf, you can fight a swing and sometimes get by on pure technology. I’ve made terrible swings and my driver still produces distance and straightness. Not so much in baseball.

It’s a pretty pointless argument since both are so fucking hard to do = the ultimate point.

For the love of god you fucking retards, the noise issue in tennis is not about concentration it’s about the fact that players listen to how the ball comes off the opponents’ racket to judge the speed and placement of the shot.

I’m a tennis player, but would love to see crowd noise allowed in the sport. Davis Cup matches, with the crowd really into it, are much more fun to watch.

Mentally though, in baseball, there is still a high degree of doubt involved. Whether or not you can succeed, whether or not the pitcher is going to throw a baseball, whether or not you’re gonna get beaned in the face and die, and I think those aspects put it above the purely reactionary skillset.

yeah but when you don’t know what kind of pitch is coming and where, that raises the ante. a 94mph fb followed by an 86mph deuce or vice versa might make you weep

Having said that, once you overcome the doubt, I agree, it’s much easier for those mental issues to creep back in in golf.

that wasnt the debate tho…the question was which was harder MENTALLY. with baseball, you don’t have time to think cuz the ball’s past you. in golf, your brain usually gets in the way when you hit bad shots.

I think the problem is more when there’s a noise and the golfer acts like somebody shot his mother. Deal with it, asshole…
