Steve Buckhantz Thought The Wizards Won, Screamed Dagger, But It Was Only an Airball
All, Media Gossip/Musings, NBA, Video February 27th. 2013, 10:00pm
Steve Buckhantz, the Washington Wizards play-by-play announcer, thought Trevor Ariza hit this game-winner from the corner, so he went with his signature, “DAGGER!” call. Buckhantz proceeded to scream about it – “a miraculous comeback in Washington!” – before realizing that no, the shot didn’t go in.
It was an airball.

Wow that first angle it absolutely looked good, lots of fans thought it went in too, what a mind-fuck.
Also, I never liked calling a shot that hit the net an “airball” but then again I’m a weirdo.

So true. You have to be a weirdo to have worked in Syracuse for a while.
Lima, i bet you wish you were at the Jimmy B post game presser in milwaukee. I always got a chuckle when id see him get pissy after you asked a question

Steve and Phil are classy guys and great announcers. Far better than us Wizards fans deserve.
Definitely did look good there for a second.

Not sure why I’m admitting this, but I was at the game and everyone in the arena thought it was good. I even got some smack talk from the Wizard fans. But after the game there was no announcement, replay, or anything. Just a lot of confused people.
