they’re descent began when he became injured. Chandler’s scoring numbers went down when Felton was out, and have climbed again since his return. He has had some big games scoring wise that have led the Knicks to victory, including the second 20 point win against the Heat. There are two primary ways the Knicks score, either off of Melo double teams, or off of Felton setting up everyone else. He has done a very good job of that this year. I think he is more injured than the Knicks are letting on.

He was +11 tonight! Of course, Curry was -4 since he played all 48, but still!

Thing is Felton is their only guard that can dribble drive (except for JR on the rare occasions when he decides not to take contested jumpers). Tonight was a prime example of the problem with the Knicks offense. When Anthony and Felton are out of the game, the offense grinds to a halt. The idea is to run offense through Smith and STAT, but neither one of them penetrates and dishes or concerns teams enough to draw a double.

The way they played at the beginning definitely keeps me somewhat optimistic. I do think they’ve eased off the gas pedal, since they blatantly take some quarters and even entire games off defensively. Hopefully Shumpert rounds into form and they stay healthy.

Felton has been getting lit up by PGs all year. This is not anything new. And no, he was struggling all of December too, before the injury. He’s the biggest reason why the Knicks offense bogs down – maddeningly indecisive and an inability to push the ball.

Ray has struggled shooting since coming back from the broken finger, but he was pretty good in Nov/Dec. He’s nowhere near a top PG but he doesn’t turn it over and can run the pick and roll.
