There was no WEC Flyweight division. The “biggest” flyweight division in the US was typically considered Tachi Palace Fights. There were some over in Japan, but Tachi had most of the big names in the US. UFC introduced that weight class with a 4 man tourney (Bermudez v. Urushitani and Johnson v. McCall). Winner was the first UFC Flyweight champ.

Like I said in previous comment, they seem to base the decision on the weight class, not the organization that they came from. If there is an existing weight class, there is certain inconsistency in whether a title shot is immediate or not.

This is standard procedure for when bringing title holders to the UFC for divisions that did not exist in the UFC previously. See Jose Aldo, Dominick Cruz from. It isn’t for title holders that are entering previously existing divisions. See Gilbert Melendez (Strikeforce 155), Dan Henderson (Pride 185 and 205), Alistair Overeem (Strikeforce and DREAM Heavyweight), Nick Diaz (Strikeforce 170), Anthony Pettis (WEC 155), Carlos Condit (WEC 170) etc. etc. Some of them were given immediate title shots, some weren’t.
