Manti Te’o 40: 4.81 at the Combine. Also, Mike Florio Said Teams Want to Know if “Manti Te’o is gay”
Manti Te’o just ran the 40 at the NFL Combine: 4.81. Mike Mayock of the NFL Network had said all weekend that Te’o's 40 time had to be under 4.8 for him to remain in the first round. (It should be noted Peter King said he’d be surprised if Te’o fell below Cincinnati at 21.) Te’o will run another 40 and could possibly improve his time. He didn’t do the bench press. I don’t want to say his stock is cratering, but between the fake girlfriend, the horrible showing in the BCS title game and everything else … my guess today is he’ll fall into the 2nd round.
Kevin Minter, an inside linebacker from LSU, ran a 4.82. Minter, who had one of the best halves of football last Fall (see here) could be the 2nd inside LB taken before Te’o (the first being Alec Ogletree, assuming he doesn’t get arrested again).

This morning on the Dan Patrick show, Mike Florio said that teams still want to know if Manti Te’o is gay (3:52).

4.81? Woof.
February 25th, 2013 at 1:49 PM
He may not be gay, but I bet he’d hold one in his mouth till the swelling went down.
February 25th, 2013 at 1:49 PM
Not blazing. This time, coupled with everything else, could drop him into the
2nd6th round.Fixed for natty champ performance and extreme accuracy
February 25th, 2013 at 1:49 PM
They should want to know how the sycophants within the CFB media kept pumping up this fraud all season long.

It should be noted Peter King said he’d be surprised if Te’o fell below Cincinnati at 21.
There hasn’t been a reason to note anything King has said in the past 10 years.
February 25th, 2013 at 1:51 PM
Seeing Ted Thompson in the video gave me a chill of fear worrying that he’ll be wanting to replace AJ Hawk with another slow linebacker
February 25th, 2013 at 1:52 PM
He’s a really bright kid (insert fake GF joke here) so I bet he wows teams in the interview board. I still bet he’s taken in the late first round.
/if ATL takes him I’ll murder someone
February 25th, 2013 at 1:52 PM
Uh huh, sure Mike, “teams” want to know if he is gay, the same way “my friend” was wondering if you had any weed.
February 25th, 2013 at 1:52 PM
(the first being Alec Ogletree, assuming he doesn’t get arrested again).

Just watched the video. Pretty sure John Harbaugh says “what a fag” before Te’O runs.

One arrest and you get this treatment? That seems weak.

I like to kid about O’dell b/c my nephew is a friend of his. And has been with him at a cock-fight.

4.81? Woof.
humanized. i ran that shit in HS. finally a number many of us can relate to
February 25th, 2013 at 1:57 PM
I think he’s easily worst kid Richt has had in his time at UGA. Just a total thug.
February 25th, 2013 at 1:58 PM
TBLs boy Minter is running 4.81 all day it seems.
February 25th, 2013 at 1:58 PM
Tried to bet fifty he’d fall out of the second round after the BCS game and before we all knew he was spending hours having phone sex with a crazy gay dude.
Also if Senator Jersey does not send me my $200 before St. Patricks day I will IRA his face.

JESUS!!!!!!!!!!! You almost caused a heart attack. This is the organization that drafted Jamaal Anderson and Peria Jerry. Also gave nice free agent money to Dunta Robinson and Ray Edwards. But surely, even they couldn’t possibly draft this guy. Right?
February 25th, 2013 at 2:00 PM
Yeah – My sister (nephew’s mom) used to rail on my nephew about hanging out with him and the possibility of getting in trouble. Drove her nuts.
But yeah – there are regular cockfights in Jasper county/ Shady Dale
February 25th, 2013 at 2:00 PM
“Te’o was a very impressie individual with an accomplished college career. We’d have no reservations drafting him.”
- 32 GM’s that will let him drop to the 6th round.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:00 PM
They’ll take the ND TE or some shit like that. MOntgomery might be there, but when you publicly admit you sandbag it that scares me.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:02 PM
Careful, I just read about this.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:02 PM

February 25th, 2013 at 2:08 PM
TBL’s draft analysis is the best.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:10 PM
Ogletree ran a 4.62. Dude is an athletic freak, but dammit he seems like a dumbass. Half the time I think I wouldn’t want him near my team, but the other half marvels at how badass he could be.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:10 PM
BUT HE HAD THE BEST HALF OF FOOTBALL EVER!!!
February 25th, 2013 at 2:12 PM

I think it’s time to draft a talented “character issue” kid that falls in the draft. Michael Vick’s dead dogs are a distant memory by now.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:13 PM
Damn. Washington just ran a 4.50. Some team is going to take him in the 2nd round and never get shit out of him. No player frustrated UGA fans more than Washington. INSANE athletic ability, but no production.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:13 PM
te’o improved to 4.80. first round back in play
February 25th, 2013 at 2:13 PM
We really need CSI:Miami emoji.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:13 PM
Not sure who will fall that low, yet be worth it. ‘Tree will be gone. Not sure there are any others who are at risk of falling due to character who would otherwise be top-15 worthy.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:15 PM
meanwhile, john simon, a dude who’ll probably put up insane numbers, has on-tape production that is even better, never took a play off for OSU in the four years i watched him and was, by all accounts, an absolute stand up guy/leader, will probably be a 4th rounder AT BEST. because a 6’2″ 265 lb DE that runs a 4.6 is a tweener(?)?
February 25th, 2013 at 2:15 PM
we saw your boobs was pretty funny
February 25th, 2013 at 2:16 PM
Broncos better draft a DB bc Champ Bailey is fucking horrible
February 25th, 2013 at 2:17 PM

with the new rookie contract regs, does this matter like it used to? his talent should rise to the top eventually no? then he earns the dough with his second deal
February 25th, 2013 at 2:17 PM
You love you some Simon. I haven’t seen him play so I can’t comment, but production almost always wins for me. Like, I don’t care what Jarvis Jones runs (assuming he will at the pro day). Just watch him destroy people and get after it and you know he’s legit.

February 25th, 2013 at 2:19 PM
You would think, but GMs might not be so quick to adjust their previous thinking.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:20 PM
Someone is going to take Rex Burkhead in the 4th round or wherever and get a total badass who will be one of the best 3rd-down backs in football. Dude can do it all, and is willing to put his body on the line in pass pro. But because he ran a bad 40 his stock will plummet.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:20 PM
Michael Vick’s dead dogs are a distant memory by now.

The weather should still be nice. My wife and I got married there at the end of March last year. That’s the perfect time to go.
But if you like Tex Mex and sunshine, there are definitely worse places to spend a week.

San Antonio was cool when I went. It was the middle of the summer and hot as hell, but the Riverwalk had these misting things. Quite enjoyable. Alamo is worth a look, if not for anything more than to ask to see the basement.

February 25th, 2013 at 2:33 PM
i do love john simon…i was seriously upset for him when i heard he was too hurt to play against michigan in his final game as a buckeye. one of the all timers, which is saying something.
and he’s DEFINITELY got the production. had something like 14.5 sacks and a shitload of TFL’s…his highlights against wisconsin were snuff film-y.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:33 PM
guy here just said he isnt sending his tax return on e-file in case the chinese intercept his banking info
February 25th, 2013 at 2:33 PM
How do you let Aaron Craft score 21 pts? Great win! Finish the reg season 2-1 and the Bucks should get a 3 or 4 seed.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:34 PM
Craft was getting layups left and right. Never seen that out of him before
February 25th, 2013 at 2:36 PM

Seems reasonable.

So Billy McPunkthug from around the corner can get the info easier by dumpster diving.

simon won that Wisconsin game.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:40 PM
uh…no. im sure if you check the archives you’ll find pretty much all buckeye fans were saying “this dude’s not nearly as good as his combine numbers.” tho, gholston did embarrass jake long in two mich/OSU games, which i’ll always have fond memories of.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:41 PM
So Billy McPunkthug from around the corner can get the info easier by dumpster diving.
less than 1/2 of a percent of fraud in USA banking is dumpster diving. 90% of it is from family members.

Not shocking.

February 25th, 2013 at 2:51 PM
I think he’ll be a good finisher-back. Get 15 carries a game, but maybe 8-10 of those in the 2nd half or even 4th quarter. Not sure he’s a feature back getting 20 carries.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:53 PM
ms, I played poker with some of my basketball friends on Saturday. I know nothing about scotch, but they opened up a bottle of Macallan 25 and said it was supposed to be good stuff. Were they full of shit or is that top notch stuff?

Teo isnt a first round talent, but its hilarious that because he ran one one-hundredth of a second slower than an arbitrary time some analyst threw out there, he’s now falling out of the first round. This sport is really stupid sometimes.
