John Harbaugh was not Impressed with Manti Te’o's 40-Yard Dash
All, GIF, NFL Combine February 25th. 2013, 2:36pm

John Harbaugh, the Ravens head coach, summed up Manti Te’o's 40-yard dash performance for everyone – twice. Te’o ran 4.81 in his first attempt and 4.80 in his second. The Ravens will be looking for a someone to come in and replace retired veteran Ray Lewis.

Harbaugh’s are starting to become a bit more likable. Jim was dipping at the combine.

SBN still has you beat by miles on cropping, Hamburglar.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:41 PM
I do love the race to be first. I get that SB has more resources, so that’s why they are always first, but it does make me laugh. Deadspin/TBL/SBN all trying to say the same thing the fastest I guess.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:42 PM
John looks like he has aged since winning the SB. maybe it’s the glasses.
Teo’ looks way too small to be an inside backer and with that speed he’s too slow to be an outside backer. He is going to be fullback fodder when he plays against the couple teams that still use a fullback.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:42 PM
agreed.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:43 PM
I know it’s been said before, but the watermark where you simply reformatted someone else’s material seems unnecessary.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:44 PM
shut up.
/pees on fire hydrant a dog just peed on
February 25th, 2013 at 2:45 PM
Bama used him at a such on the few times he even tried to get to the RB before he was 15 yards down field. God he was terrible in that game, yet he still had 10 tackles. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to see people come to the conclusion that he was nothing more than a JOP artist.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:45 PM
fuck this. when does anyone but a wr or rb run 40 yards as fast as he can? lateral quickness, quick feet seems way more important for an LB
start in the middle of the field, how fast can you get to the sideline? that’s what 25yd? some strength test to shed blockers
unbelievable there can;t be some tests invented that are more joe germaine to each position, especially if these measurements are so important
February 25th, 2013 at 2:46 PM
Judging by the speed he faced against Bama and how he handled it, he would do just as shittily at any of those.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:46 PM
patrick willis seems to be sprinting fairly often and after seeing scott fujita get burned tryiong to keep up with AFC north TE’s on seam passes, id like to think that speed for a LB is pretty important too.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:47 PM
There are, and they do those as well. But everyone runs the 40 and they take splits and what not. It’s mainly for TV, though. People love the 40.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:49 PM
Reminds me of this.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:49 PM
Yeah I would imagine his shuttle times aren’t going to be good.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:49 PM
Superfluous watermarking.

oops, i forgot about pass coverage. still, how bout a backpedal and transition test? if you are chasing a TE on a crossing pattern, he’s gonna catch the ball anyway. i guess beiong close enough to tackle a guy once he catches it is important
February 25th, 2013 at 2:50 PM
joe germaine
Who is this Joe Germaine you speak of? Is he every bit the semi-colon fanatic that you are?
February 25th, 2013 at 2:51 PM
No harm in a good career in special teams.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:51 PM
I bet they’re awful, actually. He looks so stiff when he runs.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:51 PM
The three cone drill is close to that. Again the forty is NOT the only fucking test.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:51 PM
It’s mainly for TV, though. People love the 40.
they;ve been doing it since before coverage blew up, and that all-day coverage is on the NFLN, not exactly a mainstream channel. whatever, it’s not my job to evaluate and draft, just seems like so much emphasis on a oft-times tangential thing
February 25th, 2013 at 2:52 PM
Again the forty is NOT the only fucking test.
Well FUCK! anyway, it’s the one that gets the most coverage, and that’s part of what i’m going mental about
February 25th, 2013 at 2:53 PM

he’s full colon
February 25th, 2013 at 2:54 PM
Simply put, the dude isn’t 1st round-good. He’s just not. His season was good last year, but he was jumping on piles and playing some truly atrocious offenses for the most part. His high INT numbers can be dissected fairly easily as so many were on tipped balls or terrible throws. Had he played for Nebraska or some other decent-but-not-special team, he would have been honorable mention AA at best, not the award king he was this year.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:54 PM
I agree, when the others quit watermarking, we’ll quit. As for speed, some times it doesn’t make sense for a GIF post to bump another post that just went up.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:55 PM
it’s the emotional baggage slowing him down
February 25th, 2013 at 2:55 PM
hard to run with a non existent 500 lb gorilla on your back…..
February 25th, 2013 at 2:55 PM
Joe Germaine can rot in hell for all of eternity.
96 Rose Bowl- never forget.
Teo has 4th rounder written all over him.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:56 PM
They should have called this book “Joe Deformed”
February 25th, 2013 at 2:56 PM
I hate these people.
February 25th, 2013 at 2:57 PM
everyone loves GIFs!!!!
February 25th, 2013 at 2:57 PM
I guess I don’t understand this line of thought. Are you worried some site will put this GIF up on their site and people won’t know you did it?
February 25th, 2013 at 2:58 PM
Assholes. Some dude is going to have to clean that up just so these fucks can have a cheap laugh.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:00 PM
Be a leader, not a follower.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:01 PM
Sites do do that, they started watermarking as a response to people taking the videos that young Michael here put up on youtube if Jason’s explanation is remembered correctly by myself.
It just cracks me up how the entire blogosphere loses it shit about stuff getting stolen when it’s taken from copyrighted material in the first place.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:02 PM
I’d be more interested in the 20 yard dash. Put more emphasis on acceleration, reaction time.
It’s what people ignore when they (idiotically) suggest Usain Bolt would be a great NFL WR. Even a RB/WR rarely run 40 yards untouched, and Bolt is often/usually trailing after 30 yards. Give me the RB who can get from zero to full speed the quickest, and that’s whom I want… the guy with the short steps that has power a half-second after he starts. Jerome Bettis-from-Detroit was like that a bit, IIRC. Wasn’t the fastest, but got up to his speed pretty damn quick.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:02 PM
This makes sense how?
February 25th, 2013 at 3:03 PM
This is what I don’t get. They’re taking shit, putting a sticker on it and claiming it as their own. They then bitch about others trying to do the exact same thing. It’s weird.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:04 PM
This is the part I find perplexing.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:04 PM
I don’t go to many sites, though, so perhaps all of them do this and it’s just the SOP of the market.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:04 PM

I hate these people.
fuck those kids. having been a sixteen year old service clerk at a super market, I would have been the guy cleaning that up. and now there’s going to be a bunch of people copying that? screw them.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:04 PM
The Shamburglar probably also cheats at golf.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:04 PM
Yeah but as someone said, even though the flat 40 time gets the most publicity, the actual people making the decisions are looking at intervals that show these things.
Outside of Al Davis it’s pretty simplistic to think that someone is getting drafted on a blind 40 time. *reads post in an hour about best players to pick based on blind 40 times*
February 25th, 2013 at 3:05 PM
when you lose to a John Cooper coached team in a rivalry or bowl game, that’s your problem.
that was the some of the laste we’d seen of the studly David Boston, who turned into a roided out freak David Boston.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:05 PM
Exactly. And you know kids will do it with glass bottle to up the ante in the near future.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:05 PM
This is the part I find perplexing.
Personally I find it more bemusing than perplexing.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:06 PM
Good call, Husker. I’d be interested in seeing the 20 yard splits, and seeing what guys really get up to speed quick.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:07 PM
There is nothing a- or b- musing about theft.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:07 PM
i, dunno…frankly, im underwhelmed.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:08 PM
You see a lot of people this week build up in their heads that NFL GMs care only about the Combine as a means to rant about how they think the Combine is overrated
February 25th, 2013 at 3:08 PM
10 yard dash is my money maker, esp for DE’s and rush OLB’s…jevon kearse had the fastest 10 yard split ever at the combine, im pretty sure.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:09 PM
His high INT numbers can be dissected fairly easily as so many were on tipped balls or terrible throws.
i’m not defending him, just reacting in general to the combine tests. also, one of my pet peeves is protecting a narrative by showing every INT that was thrown right to him
February 25th, 2013 at 3:10 PM
Exactly.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:10 PM
i wish all draft sites were this good.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:10 PM
There is nothing a- or b- musing about theft.
You borrowing Duffy’s High Horse? What kind of mileage does it get?
February 25th, 2013 at 3:11 PM
Spence – I esp like you including just the rush OLBs. An important distinction to make.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:12 PM
Isn’t there a shuttle run around cones and such?
February 25th, 2013 at 3:12 PM
It runs on smugness and puka shell extract.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:13 PM
whoa…
February 25th, 2013 at 3:13 PM
has there been any discussion about the utah DE who was a top 5 prospect but has the heart condition? bummer
February 25th, 2013 at 3:13 PM
I can’t stand pluralization of names. I’m sorry, there’s more than one Geno Smith in the draft? If you are going to name all the player comps anyway, you’ve established a group. There’s no need to expand it by adding an ‘s’ to every name.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:14 PM
absolutely…if the OLB is primarily in coverage, move the splits back and watch their 20.
the more i read about scouting, the more i begin to think that a coach that can’t make a legit player out of any of these guys sucks ass at their job.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:15 PM
Good read.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:15 PM
has there been any discussion about the utah DE who was a top 5 prospect but has the heart condition? bummer
Did he find out that his girlfriend was fake too?
February 25th, 2013 at 3:15 PM
I’m resisting. Mostly I’m glad not to see it, so it’s not just a bunch of assholes pretending to be doctors, like with the PED shit.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:16 PM
star loutuiui or however it’s spelled? he’s a DT…that’s an awfully scary red flag for a 340 lb dude.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:18 PM
Cool to see other guys stepping out and giving their opinion. That goes against conventional wisdom, but it makes the mind wonder.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:19 PM
regardless…werner is one of my favorite players in this draft. dude is an absolute freak…his burst off the line is fucking fantastic.
February 25th, 2013 at 3:50 PM
WWoS is having a very serious day again. Please pop Xanax.
February 25th, 2013 at 4:27 PM
He wouldn’t have had a long-distance girl(??)friend. There would have plenty of women willing to bow at the shrine of Te’o.
