Photo of Jennifer in video >>>>>>> Round up pic
February 25th, 2013 at 8:22 AM
Thanks for making shed some tears on a Monday morning. Love that stuff
February 25th, 2013 at 8:26 AM
WTF?!? She doesn’t even flinch! Then goes about fixing her hair and dusting off any debris from her jacket!
Seems like the most important thing on her mind after that happened was she’s to catch the bus and make to work on time.
/gotta be a Russia vid amirite?
February 25th, 2013 at 8:26 AM
That Jennifer Lawrence video is awesome. She’s so damn likable.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:31 AM
Why is everyone appalled by horse meat and not by pig or cow meat.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:32 AM
Erin Andrews was a bitch to 50.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:34 AM
Jarring stuff here. Dude’s who can’t bang women might be gay? Who knew?
February 25th, 2013 at 8:34 AM
I totally called best animation short
February 25th, 2013 at 8:35 AM
I’m not saying Bynum should have punched Hansbrough. But, I understand.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:35 AM
I laughed at this being included.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:37 AM
I don’t get this either. I also heard horse meat was actually quite good for you, but maybe I’m mistaken.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:37 AM
Because pork is amazing and delicious. Beef is pretty awesome, too.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:40 AM
Did anyone else find Ben Affleck’s speech appalling? He seemed super coked out and said so much weird shit. Should have let Clooney do it for him.
Lawrence winning best actress was awesome because she did not expect it in the slightest and was totally unprepared for that moment. Genuine shock and disbelief.
/Hugh Jackman ran in to save the day when she fell before she got up on her own.
//what a pimp
February 25th, 2013 at 8:41 AM
It all went downhill the moment his parent’s named him Cashmere.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:42 AM
Diane Lane getting divorced agained. Way to fock that up Josh, seriously. She’s one good looking lady. She’s a classic beauty.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:42 AM
Love that Jennifer Lawrence once played the teenage daughter on the “Bill Engvall Show.” Talk about a meteoric rise.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:44 AM
Thought Daniel Day Lewis’ line about being the original choice to play Margaret Thatcher but he switched with Meryl Streep was funnier than anything Seth McFarlane did.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:44 AM
I passed out right before Lawrence won, so I missed the final three awards. I’m sure it’s happened before (maybe even often, I don’t know) but it seemed odd to me that the heavy favorite to win Best Picture didn’t see its Director get nominated.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:45 AM
Damn that’s a good photo.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:46 AM
Lawrence blond >> lawrence brunette and I’m firmly team brunette
What a doll
February 25th, 2013 at 8:47 AM
It was, but that’s unfair as it was unexpected comedy. You know coming in that the host will try to be funny. Thought McFarlane did a great job.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:48 AM
put me down for liking Seth MacFarlane’s job hosting and Ben Affleck’s speech.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:50 AM
I thought the Opening was bad, but the rest was great. It’s impossible to win over critics when hosting the Oscars. Everyone always hates them.
And I stand corrected. It’s only happened 4 times.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:51 AM
I need to re-watch Argo when it comes out. I left the theater thinking it was a really good movie, but not the best picture. I thought Zero Dark Thirty was better by a good bit, but heaven forbid they actually show torture scenes.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:51 AM
Please explain… I saw some of this on twitter. I thought it was extremely uncomfortable and he was not exactly very complimentary of his marriage/wife. Then he closed it with an uninspired cliche that people seem to be eating up.
/I’m a Ben Affleck fan, too.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:52 AM
Can we not bash mcfarlane? He was smooth and many of the bits were funny and if wasnt lipsyncing has a damn fine voice. That opening thing with shatner was pretty good
February 25th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
Whitlock was on Twitter trying to argue that Argo winning was political… can someone explain this? I haven’t seen the movie. His arguments seemed to be wildly nonsensical, but maybe I just don’t know enough.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:54 AM
Saw zdt saturday night husker. Really enjoyed a 2.5 hour movie that never dragged. Chastain was amazing but did not see other performances so cant say she was robbed. Was lawrence better?
February 25th, 2013 at 8:55 AM
oscars? i mean, i can seriously think of about five hundred thousand better things to do with my time…you should all be disgusted with yourselves.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
jennifer lawrence continues to move up my list of women i desire.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:58 AM
I watched ZDT this weekend and while it was a good movie, I did not see anything Oscar caliber about it.
February 25th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
Chicago… michelle obama did a remote award presentation for best pic…that’s why folks are talking political
February 25th, 2013 at 8:59 AM
I have Argo in the queue but haven’t watched it yet. Silver Linings Playbook was good.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
I haven’t watched anything on TV for 4 days – pretty much been in a hospital for most of my time. My wife went into labor Thursday night 6 weeks early, and the baby had to be lifeflighted to a hospital that has tiny enough respirators, etc. for premies.
/baby is doing OK for now – hope to come off respirator today but will be in NICU for at least a couple weeks
//yes – this is the exact same thing that happened with our first kid 2 years ago
February 25th, 2013 at 9:00 AM
Really? The guy was completely emotional in the best possible way. He thanked all the other nominees, let Heslov go first, and then actually displayed an honest show of emotion on live TV. This is a guy who essentially spent the prime of his career being a punchline. Heaven forbid he get a little sentimental after finally being back on top.
Chastain was better than Lawrence, but I’m fine with Lawrence winning, too. I loved Argo, but ZDT was the better film. Poor Ang Lee — wins Best Director for the fourth best directing performance this year.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
cool slideshow:
Said nobody ever until now.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
you realize that shakespeare in love beat out saving private ryan right? “oscar caliber” my ass.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:01 AM
I thought McFarlane did a really good job. He took some jabs at people and Hollywood, but these people, umm I mean critics, need to lighten the fock up. They want their ego stroked is what it comes down to.
Another one firmly in my top 10 of all-time beauties is Catherine Zeta Jones. Damn I love her.
Still trying to figure out how that douchebag Douglas bagged her
February 25th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
oscars? i mean, i can seriously think of about five hundred thousand better things to do with my time…you should all be disgusted with yourselves.
amen bro. didn’t watch a second of the oscars.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
He bitches to bitch so people will talk about him bitching.
They were both great, and both in totally different roles. I liked Chastain a smidge better, but watching Lawrence in her white pants showing off her ass was rather pleasant.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
I guess I just took it completely the wrong way. This softened my view of it completely, so thanks.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:02 AM
So true. On top of being rather beautiful and a good actress she just seems to have this down to Earth personality. Hopefully that doesn’t change with time.
Also…Will Bynum punches Crazy T and get’s ejected.
Carmelo Anthony punches Spencer Hawes in the head and gets a Flagrant 1 and Tyson Chandler tries to make the situation worse by shoving Hawes with both hands and he, and somehow Hawes each get a T.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
Bryan Singer is the man.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
BACK ON TOP?!?!?! dude, the “lowpoint” of his career was banging jennifer lopez and making like 20 bad movies in a row while collecting $millions…there is no adversity here. NONE.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:03 AM
Wow glad things got a little better
February 25th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
Roeth, wow. Glad to hear things seem to be doing much better now for the baby. congrats to you and your wife. Hope your wife is doing well too. god bless you and your family.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:04 AM
I hope everything continues to go well, man. Congrats on the newborn, and the little guy/gal will be in my thoughts/prayers, fwiw.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:05 AM
This.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
Top 10 all-time porn movie title
February 25th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
I love the Oscars and this year’s movie lineup was outstanding. So much better than last year’s abortion.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:06 AM
Frank Zappa? i mean, i can seriously think of about five hundred thousand better things to do with my time…you should all be disgusted with yourselves.
/Counterpoint’d
February 25th, 2013 at 9:07 AM
yea, but i can understand what’s going on during the oscars, you wouldnt have a clue what’s going on listening to zappa. not a good comp. you’re better than this, phag allen.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:07 AM
michelle obama did a remote award presentation for best pic
the obamas are consistent in never turning down a chance to be on tv.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
Little known fact is the first 4,000 things on PurdueMatt’s list involves telling people they’re awful for eating meat.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
That third move was Ratner taking a giant dump in X-Men fans’ mouths.
Hope all gets better Roeth, awful news to hear the least.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
I’m always reminded of Bill Murray’s speech in Meatballs anytime the Oscars come around
February 25th, 2013 at 9:08 AM
this is what i dont understand…how do you get any enjoyment out of this whatsoever?
February 25th, 2013 at 9:09 AM
So maybe it is Oscar caliber? I don’t know, it was good not great. I mean, you take the good and take the bad.. I just couldn’t buy into Chastain being a CIA operative I guess.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:09 AM
Wasnt bashing McFarlane, just liked DDL’s crack. The opening was way too long. Didnt see any problem with Affleck’s speech, he should have said, “Take That Damon!”
Jackman showed why all the ladies love him, rushing to Jennifer Lawrence’s aid when she fell.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:10 AM
Well I know The Walking Dead is not one of them. Done a complete 180 on that show. Terrible
February 25th, 2013 at 9:10 AM
Eh. It was 10/11pm on a Sunday night. Wife was asleep and I was about to be. Figured I’d give it a viewing before falling asleep.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:10 AM
I equate it with The Passion of the Christ where a lot of people were so predetermined to like the subject material that they overlooked it being an underdeveloped movie lacking in characters…and the whole “NOW it’s personal” angle didn’t do anything for me
A well made film, just not overly good in this guy’s opinion
February 25th, 2013 at 9:12 AM
counterpoint: i couldnt buy ben affleck, the dude best known for being in daredevil and putting suntan lotion on j-lo’s ass, pulling off one of the most successful and ambitious CIA operations.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:13 AM
I saw Side Effects on SAT eve. Pretty good I thought.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:13 AM
I thought the take down raid was awesome, but I was just never “hooked” on the rest of it.
This.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:13 AM
i LOVED ZDT, but for the story, not the movie itself. tommy wiseau couldve directed it and i still wouldve loved it as long as it had CIA shit and andy dwyer.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:13 AM
Whoever told me to buy The Heist is very smart, by the way. It was $3.99 on Amazon this weekend and I jumped on it. Very nice album.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:14 AM
Good lord, last night was awful.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:15 AM
I can see that. That’s probably one of the underlying reasons I haven’t watched Argo yet. It’s also why I hate Tom Cruise movies. I don’t like it when I’m acutely aware of who the actor is the whole time I watch their movie. I guess that is why character actors are the best.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:16 AM
How did you guys get to be this cool?
February 25th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
I’m genuinely shocked that this many people not only watch them, but seem to enjoy doing so.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
You’re tearing me apart, Osama! Oh hi Mark
February 25th, 2013 at 9:17 AM
I love movies. It’s the same reason why I like the combine, for example. It allows me to talk about CFB.
By all accounts the “NOW it’s personal” was actually a real feeling many had within the small team going after him. I agree about being predisposed to liking it, though I don’t see how one could watch the movie and not think Chastain’s character was underdeveloped. Or Clarke’s, for that matter.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:19 AM
I as going to watch it today on DVR, that’s disappointing to hear. Late fall and early into this season doesn’t seem to be grabbing a hold of me like episodes In the past. Not digging Rick’s whole mental state of despair
February 25th, 2013 at 9:19 AM
Fixed for what I meant to say.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:20 AM
damn dude, glad to hear everything seems like it is going well now.
I’m going on a 2 day float trip about 3 weeks before my GF is due, and my biggest fear is getting back into cell phone range and getting a call from her where I need to get to the hospital, and rolling in to the ER drunk, sun burnt and wearing flip flops.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:21 AM
That’s about the best thing you can say about that movie, too. Just a terrible, terrible effort. Ratner is lucky Michael Bay keeps fucking that chicken, because otherwise he’d be known as Hollywood’s worst director.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:21 AM
yea, but i can understand what’s going on during the oscars, you wouldnt have a clue what’s going on listening to zappa.
I understand what is going on. Goobly Gock.
And, I only peaked in on the Oscars a couple times. I didn’t see a single new release movie this year. I don’t give a crap about them.
Well I know The Walking Dead is not one of them. Done a complete 180 on that show. Terrible
Good lord, last night was awful.
I mentioned this last night, but how in the hell does an ultra-right wing conservative christian farm girl know lyrics to a Tom Waits song?
February 25th, 2013 at 9:21 AM
yea, but the combine has a point, an endgame…there’s a reason for it. the oscars is a meaningless exercise that’s nothing more than a narcissistic institution gladhanding a bunch of fellow narcissists. we really should be harvesting these poeple for organs they’re all so useless.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:22 AM
Affleck is a much better director then he ever was/is actor.
That said, I thought his speech last night was pretty good. For a guy who has been around as long as he has he seemed really taken by the moment and that was cool to see. And I am someone that doesn’t really care for Ben Affleck at all.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
I’m going on a 2 day float trip about 3 weeks before my GF is due, and my biggest fear is getting back into cell phone range and getting a call from her where I need to get to the hospital, and rolling in to the ER drunk, sun burnt and wearing flip flops.
I never get cell phone reception on float trips. During Salmonfest, my dad had to be admitted to the ER and I had no clue until I got out of the valley the next day.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
Literally was the twentieth award she won for the role, that is 100% fake shock and disbelief.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:23 AM
I’m always amazed when fans of great TV watch Walking Dead. I understand we all have guilty pleasures, but WD cant even manage that.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:24 AM
ZDT was a very good movie, I am sure they had 4+ hours of material at least, but you need to make these around 2.5 hours so you can get the proper amount of showings per night in theaters. Having the bulk of the working script done before UBL was killed was an impressive accomplishment, and it handled the enhanced interrogation/torture scenes without judgment was nuanced. Chastain was very good. The other guy who did the torture was very good as well.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:25 AM
Idk, maybe she needed a montage or something. I think the part where she was on the phone and sounding like a Valley Girl really killed it for me.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
They’re both awful directors. But killing Professor X and Cyclops? What the f? They made Rogue’s character even lamer than she was in the previous movies (something that needs to be rectified).
February 25th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
The rarity of someone winning Best Picture without being nominated or winning Best Director is kind of diminished by the Best Picture category being expanded now, always going to be several Best Picture nominees that don’t get a direction nomination now because of it.
She really got out ahead of Gibbs’ statements about the drone program. We live in a cult of celebrity.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Thought that Seth killed it last night. A lot of under-the-radar jabs. Great stuff.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Meh. I like movies, so they serve a purpose.
Come on, dude. I’m a cynical guy myself, but winning an Oscar at 23 is a big fucking deal. It’s one thing to win a Globe or whatever award they give out, but winning an Oscar is huge. You can be shocked that it actually came true, even if you were a favorite to win it.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
I’m always amazed when fans of great TV watch Walking Dead. I understand we all have guilty pleasures, but WD cant even manage that.
If it wasn’t on a Sunday night, I doubt I would continue. I’m probably done after this season. It isn’t going to ever approach being good. I still say, the first two episodes of the series were fantastic, but there is a damn good reason that show was only supposed to be six episodes long in total.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:27 AM
I know it’s fashionable to rail on famous people for “fake” emotion when winning awards, but winning a BAFTA or SAG award doesn’t always prepare you for winning the biggest honor in your profession. I don’t think Lawrence and Affleck manufactured emotion there.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
Shut your whore mouth. That show brings a ton of money to my mom’s town, which is driving the property value up like whoa. Keep on keepin’ on, Zombie show.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
Spencer has never been entertained by cinema.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:28 AM
You know, I used to annoyed about the “shock” thing too. But I’ve seen it so many times now, I’m starting to think they genuinely might be shocked. Winning other awards is one thing, but the Oscars is whole another ballgame.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
I think that’s what people are struggling to understand. The show doesn’t have the writing or acting talent to ever take that next step. I’d settle for it just being entertaining. The pilot is still one of the best inaugural episodes in modern TV history, they just never found a way to sustain that atmosphere.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Agree totally. Hell On Wheels was the same
February 25th, 2013 at 9:29 AM
Also, I started watching 30 Rock last week. I can’t believe I missed this show during its run. Well crafted and well executed. I wish Community had its consistency.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
Meryll Streep acting shocked is one thing, but a 23-year-old who isn’t far removed from the Bill Engval (sp?) show is another.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
Although, if the Nazi that had run out during the Sound of Music gag had been Christoph Waltz instead, it would’ve been sublime.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
Also Daniel Day Lewis needs to get cast as someone who has a hundred million in the bank but doesn’t look like he gets the retarded guy from My Left Foot to cut his hair. Holy shit.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
after seeing anne hathaway last night, i am even more curious as to why people find her hot. she is heinous.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:30 AM
Bay is nowhere near Hollywood’s worst director.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:31 AM
I mean fine, but it wasn’t her first Oscar nomination, it’s not like she came out of nowhere.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
Edward Penishands and The DaVinci Load are good as well.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:32 AM
Did not know this. Last night the acting just seemed to be horrendously bad, by everybody!, and then farm girl breaks out into song like it was a musical. I was just waiting for a Thriller-esque zombie dance routine.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
Bay is a money maker. He will always work.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
So zombies are good for property value? Bring on the zombie apocalypse then.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:33 AM
It’s her first win. You wouldn’t be shocked if you won as Oscar at 23?
February 25th, 2013 at 9:34 AM
Hell on Wheels had potential but I gave up after about four episodes.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
I’m sure there are worse out there, but he ruined my childhood by fucking up Transformers. For that he cannot be redeemed.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:35 AM
I read up to Vol 17 of the trade paperbacks of Walking Dead over the weekend. If the TV show somehow lasts that deep into the series, it’ll take approximately 82 seasons to get there with the current writers.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
Salma Hayek looked weird last night.
Charlize Theron looked amazing.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
Good seeing Walter White/Heisenberg on stage last night when Argo won. They are filming the final Breaking Bad episodes now.
Didnt know Cranston was in Argo, Its on the list of movies to watch.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:36 AM
If so, she deserves a second Oscar for the acting job she put on. She was up against some pretty great performances. Based on her reaction, the fact that she fell, and her subsequent speech, I think it’s safe to say she was not prepared in the slightest. If she was, then that was a really remarkable calculated reaction/performance on her part, and I’m even more impressed.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:37 AM
Definitely. Needed to FDT.
Catherine Zeta Jones stole the show, though. Renne Zelwegger was a firm fourth on the most fuckable stars of Chicago on the stage.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:38 AM
If the centerpiece of your childhood consisted of toy cars that transformed into giant fighting alien robots, it was already ruined.
Bay is a niche director who does one thing extremely well. I’m not sure why he gets bashed relentlessly while other one-trick ponies like Judd Apatow and Wes Anderson are described as “visionaries.”
February 25th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Did anyone else see/read the twitter outrage at The Onion last night? Jim Trotter especially
February 25th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Mine was Thundercats, so I must have had it pretty bad.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
She’s willing to show the tittays and dudes dig that. She des nothing for me, but personally I like her with longer hair, and not the pixie look. I can though why people find her annoying.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
He’s actually excellent in the role, too. Gets off some killer lines.

I didn’t watch a second of the Oscars, and I feel so good about myself. The quality of my life increased significantly by not watching the Oscars. It felt so good, I had to jump back and kiss myself.
/ nod to the attention whores who have the need to CONSISTENTLY invade posts to comment on what they don’t like and how much so. (NBA ESPN)
February 25th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Theron killed it. You know you’re hot when you can pull off hair that short.
Still waiting for them to post the first half of season 5 on Netflix. Hoping they do so soon, but not holding my breath.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
He’s good, not great
February 25th, 2013 at 9:39 AM
Thundercats reruns, I should say.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:40 AM
What did they do?
February 25th, 2013 at 9:40 AM
after Queen Latifah?
February 25th, 2013 at 9:40 AM
Jesus christ. It’s an exaggeration.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:40 AM
Also, we all saw the Season 3 Game of Thrones trailer, right? Feel like that should be discussed in “Ballin”
February 25th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
The first Transformers movie was perfectly fine outside of the robots being indistinguishable during the final fight scenes. And if Bay “ruined” them where is all the stick for Spielberg throwing his name all over them to make a cool few hundred million? Oh wait I he’s the best director ever *furious wanking motion*
If This is 40 didn’t sweep the Razzies those things need to be shut down.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
Soused had a rather enjoyable rant about it.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
Never understood the Wes Anderson love at all.
People call Apatow a visionary? That’s just crazy. Dude just writes about his life then throws Paul Rudd in as himself and casts his actual wife as his wife. Stuff is still funny but not even close to visionary.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:41 AM
1) Jessica Chastain looked ridiculously hot last night.
2)
The third movie isn’t Ratner’s fault. And for the record, Ratner is a shite director. The script was awful and don’t forget he was hired as a replacement for Matthew Vaughn, who leaves just about every movie he’s hired to direct. Ratner literally came in last minute. The problem is films are locked into a release date and don’t have time to correct their issues.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:42 AM
Called the little black girl from Magic Nawlans Folk a cunt.
And Richard Gere.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:42 AM
Queen Latifah?
cant stand that cow. i have to change the channel whenever she is on tv.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
Did anyone else see/read the twitter outrage at The Onion last night?
Soused had a rather enjoyable rant about it.
I need details.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
I thought the Queen played short stop for the other team? Renee looked like shit, she looked like she been rode hard and put away wet.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
Just messing with you.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:43 AM
Literally was the twentieth award she won for the role, that is 100% fake shock and disbelief.
It was awesome when that guy who for the Oscar for Best Sound did the Ray Lewis dance.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:44 AM
What did they do?
Made a joke about the 9 year old best actress nominee
February 25th, 2013 at 9:45 AM
that’s not true at all…im a HUGE music fan, but i dont waste my time watching the grammys. why do i care what music a bunch of people marketing an art to the lowest common denominator deign to bestow a meaningless award upon?
my favorite movie of all time is predator…what more could you want from a movie? it’s got charismatic stars, a great story, awesome action, a fuckin’ minigun…didnt even get an oscar sniff. THAT’S BULLSHIT.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:45 AM
Actually the Twilight movie (not sue which version) won it this year, somehow beating out Battleship that was oh-so terrible. Riggins needs to stop making movies where he speaks more than, say, 20 lines.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:45 AM
Beasts of the Southern Wild being nominated for anything is a joke. I cannot believe voters bought into that “poor people connect better to the world” narrative in 2013.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:45 AM
The truest statement of this thread so far.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
I’m unapologetic in my love for The Fantastic Mr. Fox…the rest I can take or leave although for reasons unknown I enjoyed The Life Aquatic
February 25th, 2013 at 9:46 AM
Are we going to talk about how terrible the Goodwin kid did outside of everything other than running a 40 at the Combine? Texas fans were all, “ZOMG…Mack Brown needed to use him more!!” Then he worked out and actually did WR things and was by most accounts terrible. I’m shocked a track guy ran a great 40. SHOCKED!!
February 25th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
Damn, Halle Berry looked great last night.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
Spencer, I was just sarcastically ribbing you for saying all the actors provide no value and should have their organs harvested. I don’t really disagree with you about the Oscars being a narcissistic love fest- but there’s no doubt it means a lot to them, which I somehow find a bit endearing. I’m a sucker I guess.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:47 AM
Winning an Oscar is like HOF induction in that it adds a few zeroes to any check you get
February 25th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
February 25th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
I didn’t watch the “pregame” or whatever but when the show started and they showed the girl, my wife said “She’s cute but man did she come off entitled and stuck up on the red carpet.” Apparently mine wasnt the first household to have that thought.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
i watched the last 1/4 of this recently and had a blast…not because it was good, but for the unintentional comedy (/nods at simmons). strip away the action-y camera shots and the music and it’s nothing more than a film about a bunch of guys doing the most boring work in the navy. LETS MOVE THIS MISSILE! FUCK YEA, COURSE IS SET! AW YEA, LETS LOAD THAT SHELL!
February 25th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
Not sure how many guys out there I’d say are visionaries. James Cameron and likely Ang Lee. Speilberg is a man of commerce. Scorese is more of a storyteller. Tarantino is a more of hyper-style devotee. Just because guys like Bay and Ratner like explosions and high CGI budgets, that in no way qualifies them as visionaries.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:48 AM
To agree with some posters from last week regarding popular TV shows, I too am very late and hardly ever watch them live. Case in point: Downton Abbey. Got it OnDemand on Comcast and watched Season 1 this weekend. Great effing show. Thomas and O’Brian can die in a fire, and Sybil is hotness.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:49 AM
Fantastic Mr. Fox is the only Wes Anderson movie I enjoy. Like it a lot.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:49 AM
that’s aight…we all have our things like this. hell, just last week i was legitimately upset about the fucking westminster dog show judging metrics. to be fair, i feel my case is rock solid…which probably just confirms everyone being a sucker for somethign.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
Sounds like a fun household.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
She’s looked exactly like she has since Jerry Maguire. Not very cute. And I’m being nice.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:50 AM
james cameron doesnt do what james cameron does for james cameron. james cameron does what james camerone does because james cameron IS james cameron.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:51 AM
I traded 18 hours of WGC Match Play this weekend in exchange for 2 hours of the latest Twilight abortion on Saturday night. I still think my wife won.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
The scene where senior citizens prep the USS Missouri for battle with AC/DC blaring in the background is simultaneously the most embarrassing and American movie scene of the last 20 years.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
Wes Anderson is suffering from diminishing returns. You can start to set up the jokes b/c his movies are in different places & times but the humor and quirk is from the same vein.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:52 AM
First season of Walking Dead is great. The farm episodes were brutal.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:53 AM
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was saluting and laughing at the same time…salaughing.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:53 AM
It was a great movie for unintentional comedy. I also like how the dude who played Saracen’s friend in FNL basically played the same character in Battleship.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:55 AM
I think guys like Nolan, Cuaron, Blomkamp, and Del Toro are willing to push the boundaries of popular filmmaking in different directions. Also excited to see what directors like Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper), Duncan Jones (Moon), and Garth Evans (The Raid) do next.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
Heavy use of cunt, followed by disdain for Argo winning, followed by examples of America being cunty for covering up shame with glitzy movies that try and justify said shameful events in our history.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
Still can’t shake the feeling that Elysium kills Matt Damon’s career.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:57 AM
i watched this movie “bunraku” with josh hartnett and woody harrellson that was supposed to be some japanese action movie set in a modern dystopia. the director was VERY ambitious…but it failed miserably.
ambitious directors are like jazz musicians…sometimes it hits the highest of high notes and sometimes it falls flat on its face. but i agree…prefer a creative gamble to a mass-produced template.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:59 AM
Reserving judgment for the trailer, but I’m extremely optimistic.
February 25th, 2013 at 9:59 AM
Theron is always the hottest in the room
February 25th, 2013 at 10:00 AM
Making Batman boring as fuck is definitely a bold direction.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:01 AM
I prefer tits & ass and gun battles.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:02 AM
Speaking of red carpet….chastain
But seriously…jamie foxx’s daughter is fine enough to take the 19yo crown from upton
February 25th, 2013 at 10:02 AM
not gonna lie, i laughed.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
I think guys like Nolan, Cuaron, Blomkamp, and Del Toro are willing to push the boundaries of popular filmmaking in different directions
Must admit I was sad to see Nolan wasting his time with the Superman series. Would love for him to get into unchartered territory. Del Toro I would agree on.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
Looks interesting to me. Decent cast, too .
February 25th, 2013 at 10:04 AM
I would doubt we’ll get a post on this but in 2009 ESPN launched in Britain because they bought up Setanta’s licenses when they went bankrupt, they just sold to British Telecom and are getting out of the country. Have to imagine it’s because of losing the EPL rights stateside. Strong gamble there, Bristol.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:05 AM
Enjoyed Joaquin Phoenix shaking his head after his clip. Yeah, we get it. You thing awards are stupid. If you don’t like it, just stay home.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:05 AM
I’m pumped for the new Superman. I’m not a Superman fan necessarily, but the trailer for this one looked great and Snyder and Nolan could do some cool stuff together.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:06 AM
There are so many similarities between him and Jim Belushi.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:06 AM
So true, and the gap between her and whoever you want to deem the second hottest is huge.
Also, Catherine Zeta Jones gets better looking every time I see her.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:07 AM
If Snyder’s Superman doesn’t contain at least thirty minutes of shirtless guys farming in Kansas I will be flat out shocked. Gayest director in the gay directing game.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:09 AM
Damn. Dion Jordan ran a 4,53 (unofficial I assume). That’s hauling ass for a DL.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:09 AM
so…golf? this matt kuchar guy’s might have a future.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:09 AM
Der kaiser you would like bellflower
February 25th, 2013 at 10:09 AM
Good lawd. That cat from Auburn also ran a 4.53. Lemoniere (sp?).
February 25th, 2013 at 10:11 AM
good god…he’s put on weight too. that’s insane.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:11 AM
Felt bad for Mahan with his fried egg off the tee on 17. He was done like dinner.
Poulter looked like he ran out of give-a-damn sometime mid-morning.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
I always love the 40 for the DL/LBS. I know DBs, RBs and WRs are fast, but when you’re 240+ pounds and running a 4.53, that’s absurd.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
This is sarcasm right? I mean you dislike just about everything and she was terrible, lip-synching and had 40 vats worth of make-up on during the presenting.
Hernia’d
February 25th, 2013 at 10:12 AM
so…golf? this matt kuchar guy’s might have a future.
I’d really like to hate on Kuchar but he’s won some nice events the past few years.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
Mahan has this picture perfect swing and all, but I hate how mechanical he is. There’s no pizzazz to what he does. I have a hard time watching the guys with insane tempos (Simpson, Poulter, Day) too.
Kuch had a huge chaw in his lip between rounds yesterday. Got a kick outta that.
Overall, it was great watching these guys try to play target golf in shitty conditions yesterday.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:14 AM
He’s quickly becoming my least favorite player. His sunglasses reek of douche, his hat is retarded, his wife is annoying and he’s a huge choker. He kills it off the tee but the rest of his game is average at best.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:15 AM
Lot of noise this morning coming out of Philly saying that Chip is gonna take him at #4.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:15 AM
I was watching without sound at a bar for that part and wasn’t looking at her face (though I did wonder who the fuck it was for a second because she looked a lot different).
February 25th, 2013 at 10:15 AM
Lemonier is 6-3, 255 and he ran a 4.53. Holy shit. Jordan is 6-6, 248.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
i dont mind mahan being methodical regarding his full swing, but on short shots? ugh, it’s painful. just looks so forced.
tho i had a blast watching jason day yesterday against poulter. dude was MASHING it.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:16 AM
I like him because he’s a local guy. He comes across as good people, despite the look. But yeah his short game is woof worthy.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
i wish i set my DVR for golf this weekend.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
I don’t agree with this statement at all. I give you that her reaction was genuine in terms of graciousness and disbelief that her career had taken her to this point…but given that she won just about every other award she was nominated for during the awards season, I think it’s safe to say that she has known she was going to win the Oscar for a few weeks now.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
Poulter was in the Tyson Zone by that point. He just wanted to go home.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
Kwame Geathers is 6-5, 342 and ran a blistering 5.40 in case y’all were wondering. Fat men running the 40 will always entertain me.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:17 AM
he’s an elite iron player too.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
speaking of overdone fake reactions… Anne Hathaway?
February 25th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
there’s just something about mahan i hate.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:18 AM
after about 5 holes yesterday I realized I should probably shorten my back swing up, it made a fucking world of difference. fixing little shit like that mid-round makes golf so enjoyable for me.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:19 AM
Agreed. Love the fact that Craig Zadan managed to force-feed such a prominent role for a 10-year old movie that nobody gives a crap about.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:20 AM
even if poulter was mentally still there, day still wouldve been flying it past him. poulter’s a sub-standard ballstriker…fantastic short game and one of the best putters on tour, but dude’s towards the bottom when talking tee-to-green.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
Kuchar was the great amateur who’s game fell apart and rebuilt his game from the floor up and is now 8th in the world. His game is pretty solid. I have to wonder if him smiling all the time is some mechanism to ward off stress or whatever. I find him kind of boring and he was a longer putter guy, and that goofy smile grate me a bit but he’s been getting it done. Top 10′s in every major, a Fed Ex event win, a WGC win, the Players. Really just needs 5 more our wins with a major and that would be an pretty thick resume.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
The problem is the overcorrection. I’ll change something like that then start overcompensating in another facet of the swing and eventually will have to fix that.
/ Shot 90 yesterday for the first time in over a year
/ hit every tree on the golf course
/ i live in a place where there are hardly any trees
February 25th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
I was so confused about this as well. I mean, Chicago wasn’t some epic movie that lives in the minds of people. It felt odd that it was so prominently featured.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
oh yea, it’s great finding that “thing.” and, of course, that same key won’t work the next time you play hah.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:21 AM
He’s about as unathletic as a golfer can be. It’s no real surprise that his success lies in the finesse side of the game.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:22 AM
Tits.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:22 AM
He played in the Nationwide event here several years ago. Some of the members still speak highly of him.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:22 AM
Well we don’t really disagree. Let’s not get caught up in the semantics of my wording. I still think there’s no question she was wholly unprepared for that moment.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:22 AM
freal…how can you hate him? just the smiling?
and yea, he uses a long putter, but he doesn’t anchor it. dont have too much of a problem with that…hell, i have more of a problem with the fact that he puts a new putter in the bag literally every week.
he needs a major. he’s like stricker a few years ago at this point.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:23 AM
Anne Hathaway should take one look at how Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams handle themselves, and then she might understand why people don’t like her.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:24 AM
counterpoint: nick faldo was tested by the british olympic committee for some aspect of his athleticism but was one of the shortest hitters of his era.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
Love the fact that Craig Zadan managed to force-feed such a prominent role for a 10-year old movie that nobody gives a crap about.
it angers me that musicals are nominated for the same award that actual movies are. musicals (in the theater) are horrid pieces of crap, and should be banned from existence.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
If Mahan would not do the NASCAR style product placement after wins I could take him seriously.
He got clowned by GMAC in that 2010 Ryder Cup match, owned it, and began working on his short game. His putthing since going to that Ping Nome has been decent. He’s pretty formidable, he’s going to be more of a technician than a style player. But how he handled that Ryder Cup loss and work from there has made him worth watching IMO. Last year’s display at WGC was an alltime effort. He birdied like 65% of the holes.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:25 AM
Wrong. They bailed on England because they lost the EPL rights in England. Has nothing to do with the rights in the US which they never really had anyways but bought games from Fox.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
Absolutely. I realized I was standing too far away from the ball mid-round once and am now almost on top of the ball. May not be “fundamental”, but I know where my irons are going *every time
*may be an exaggeration
February 25th, 2013 at 10:26 AM
Her comment on Fantine was lame as fuck, but other than that I didn’t see anything wrong with her speech. Damn do people hate on her.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
he’s ditched that putter for awhile now.
totally agreed. i think the US team missed him big time at last year’s ryder cup…it’s really nice to be able to rely on a player tee-to-green like mahan.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
The theme of this year’s Oscar’s was Music and Movies, so they did the Bond song w/ Bassey, the Chicago bit, etc.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
Faldo throttled back on purpose. I think he’s said numerous times that he swing around 70% of his ability so he could keep the ball in play.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
Damn do people hate on her
i just dont like her because people insist that she is hot, when it is a documented fact that she is ugly.
plus, she has weird bewbs.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
he said he hit it short because the range he practiced on when learning the game was only long enough for a 7-iron so he was forced to work on precision stuff like that. but you are right…he didnt go for distance on purpose.
and he’s also said that his style would get run over in today’s era, fwiw.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:28 AM
I heard some announcer talk about the Nome. ha.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
I think she’s pretty. I wouldn’t use hot, but I definitely think she’s pretty.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:29 AM
Regarding Anne Hathaway, again I refuse to see Les Mis because seeing a musical done by people who aren’t singers is moronic so I can’t speak to her performance in that, but I really thought she gave the best performance in Dark Knight Rises of anyone.
Also Helen Hunt should have won that award in a walk.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
Yes…which was hand-picked by Zadan to force-feed all the Chicago crap.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
an announcer being uninformed? you don’t say! still not as bad as peter kostis tho…he’s the worst.
the nome is pretty sweet…everytime i try one i make everything, but it’s just so ugly.
you see finchem’s thing on the anchored putters? THAT GUY is paid $7mm per year to lead? what the fuck? he couldnt be a bigger swindler if he tried.
funny he goes on tv to talk for 5 minutes (lets just ignore the golf tourney everyone!) saying nothing during a WGC event that he takes credit for even tho he stole the idea from greg norman. when youre such an asshole that greg norman’s a sympathetic figure…something’s wrong.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:31 AM
Which was fucking awesome.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:32 AM
Mickelson once talked shit to Faldo about being a short hitter and he said I shot a 65 on the Old Course, go do that and come talk to me. I love Faldo.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:33 AM
I didn’t have a problem with her speech last nite…but she puts her foot in her mouth in interviews constantly.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:34 AM
I suppose I haven’t seen her interviewed all that much. She’s been good on The Daily Show the 1-2 times I’ve seen her.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:34 AM
great story…
February 25th, 2013 at 10:34 AM
She did a pretty good job, in my opinion. Crowe? Woof
February 25th, 2013 at 10:34 AM
Oh yeah I forgot BT got the secondary package that they inherited from Setanta. Good call.
Well either way, looks like ESPN’s attention to soccer that isn’t El Tri is about officially dead.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:36 AM
thought The Avengers reunion was weak. Where was Thor?
February 25th, 2013 at 10:38 AM
Her, JGL, Oldman, and Caine were the best of that movie, none of the main stars were.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:39 AM
Good god there are some tough crowds in this world. I thought Bane was great.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:40 AM
We can’t all be pleased with losing in title games.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:40 AM
But Samuel L going rogue and pissing off Downey Jr was the highlight of the show
February 25th, 2013 at 10:40 AM
but she puts her foot in her mouth in interviews constantly.
actually having her foot in her mouth would improve her looks dramatically.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:40 AM
Theron is always the hottest in the room
This.
Though Catherine Z-J will always get it, and Jennifer Lawrence is pretty fantastic, too. Beautiful, built, funny, and no b.s. Gotta love that.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:42 AM
catherine zeta joooooones…she dips beneath lasers. whoa-oh-oh.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:42 AM
It was pretty good. Samuel L is the man.
I’d say something about L’pool almost winning anything, but we both know that would be a lie.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:42 AM
The entire concept of music in movies was terrible. There was no reason to turn the show into the Tonys. Really hope they come up with something better next year.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:43 AM
Great, great scene. Lawrence dancing in SLP was also fantastic.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:43 AM
Crowe should never sing again. Stick to being on a tugboat and fighting people.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:46 AM
Tuggah!
February 25th, 2013 at 10:46 AM
They still have the US men’s home qualifiers and at least the next Euro’s. I doubt either US Soccer or ESPN wants to lose that relationship. I’m sure they’ll be back in negotiations for the EPL in 3 years once NBC realizes just how badly they overpaid for the rights.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:46 AM
I’m still sticking by it: Lena Dunham is hosting one of the major award ceremonies next year.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:46 AM
No me gusta.

That’ll be when Al Jazeera gets the secondary package in the UK and gets all the rights here for bein.

Russell Crowe (Sad and dramatic): You’ve got to save him, doc. Tugger… He’s my best friend… The only friend in the world who would -
Doctor: He’s going to live but -
Russell Crowe (Now angry): Oy! Don’t you interrupt me, you vagina! I was giving a heart-wrenching soliloquy about me feelings for Tugger!

You havent watched many oscars…,
February 25th, 2013 at 10:51 AM
I hope this never happens.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:51 AM
Seems like a foregone conclusion that it’ll be Tina & Amy.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:52 AM
I’m still sticking by it: Lena Dunham is hosting one of the major award ceremonies next year.
MTV Movie Awards. Has to be.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:54 AM
Wow, I am completely dissapoint in myself for not thinking of that once last night. That episode was beyond hilarious.
February 25th, 2013 at 10:54 AM
It does. They were great at the Globes.
February 25th, 2013 at 11:06 AM
I hope Lena Dunham just goes away

You mean you’re not into chubby women who come from a privileged background writing angst ridden TV show scripts about how difficult it is to be accepted by a society that doesn’t seem to like chubby women with visible tattoos from privileged backgrounds?
I must say that I’m quite surprised.

I think next year is the last year that ABC has The Oscars isn’t it? I can’t imagine them going after two NBC people – or looking like they’re ripping off The Golden Globes.
Ricky Gervais, Louis CK, or Conan.
February 25th, 2013 at 11:12 AM
Hah!
February 25th, 2013 at 11:15 AM
Conan and Rickey Gervais forever have my votes to host awards shows. Louis CK would be, interesting. I’d definitely like to see it, but I’m not sure if his humor translates into something as broad as the Oscars.
February 25th, 2013 at 11:16 AM
Yeah it requires more than awkward pauses and calling his daughter a cunt.
February 25th, 2013 at 11:17 AM
louis CK would rather tell the oscars to fuck off than host it.
February 25th, 2013 at 11:18 AM
Because he’s so edgy!
February 25th, 2013 at 11:20 AM
when he comes up on pandora, i tend to skip his stuff nowadays. tired of it.
February 25th, 2013 at 11:20 AM
I love Louis CK but he’s more of a classic standup comedian than an entertainer. To host an awards show you have to be more than a one trick pony.

Somehow I completely forgot that Hathaway and James Franco hosted it together two years ago, must not have watched any of it that year. Cannot imagine how horrendous that was.

BRING BACK DAVID NIVEN
Legend.

Franco and Hathaway was terrible because of Franco. Hathaway was tolerable. Seth McFarlane did a really good job aside from the Shatner bit at the beginning. the Boobs song was funny.
February 25th, 2013 at 11:22 AM
And yes mole it was bad. Hathaway was fine but basically giggled her way through all of her jokes. But she can get away with that because she has nice tits. Franco was high as a kite and seemed to forget why he agreed to be there at all, let alone host.
