Sam Montgomery Admits to Not Trying Hard Against Inferior Opponents, Which Explains This
Sam Montgomery was once considered a Top 10 pick in the 2013 draft. A defensive end with a beastly motor, Montgomery compiled impressive stats as a sophomore: 13.5 tackles for losses and nine sacks as the Tigers advanced to the BCS title game.
He wasn’t nearly as ferocious as a junior, and even though he ended up with solid stats (13 tackles for loss, eight sacks), he was a virtual non-factor against Florida, Texas A&M and Alabama. In July, LSU’s strength and conditioning coach, Tommy Moffitt posted this outside his office, and it made the rounds on the web:
Montgomery and some teammates (Anthony Johnson has at times looked like a future 1st-rounder) were slapped with the lazy tag. You could almost hear him tumbling down draft boards. This weekend at the NFL combine, he confirmed to the media he took plays off against weaker opponents.
You know, some weeks when we didn’t have to play the harder teams, there were some times when effort was not needed but when we had the big boys coming in, the ‘Bamas or the South Carolinas, I grabbed close to those guys and went all out.
That’s exactly the type of player I’d spend a first-round draft pick on. The one you’ll have to motivate when playing the Jaguars and Chiefs.

Man, no kidding. I had to double check to see if CRM posted this. Hours after his UFC bender.

Man, wish he was coming back for another year at LSU

Yet before last year LSU coaches would blather on about how great Mettenberger is. Not the most credible opinions out there.

Also… I’d worry much more about the fact he was a non-factor in the games he DID play hard in, than that he couldn’t get up for the crappy teams.
February 24th, 2013 at 7:46 PM
Also, an interview like this and a retrospective study on his stats is what inspired NickP and me going a few rounds about p-values.

I assume you have used this line before? I never saw it.
Anyway, my employment status is true and it was an honest offer. Hell, I would do it for free.

Mario Balotelli had his former team’s fans waving inflated bananas at him. Stay classy, soccer fans.

The following athletes miss workouts. Having shitty kidneys and needing hospitalization due to muscle breakdown is no excuse.

Did a post get pulled? I swear that SROD told me he was in Salina this week. I was wondering why.

I’ve mentioned the lack of a copy editor over and over again here, and the resulting grammatical atrocities. I don’t care about leaving words out or typos as much, but sometimes the writers here tend to give the impression that their grasp of the English language is as tenuous as their knowledge of the content.
February 24th, 2013 at 9:15 PM
Mostly I just point them out and move on though. TBL has mentioned they had someone starting last summer. I assume the next step is to find someone competent to replace him.
February 24th, 2013 at 9:27 PM
GREAT job Seth McFarlane.
Loved the opening.
February 24th, 2013 at 9:28 PM
I wish I was home watching that. I normally could give two shits about awards shows, but wanted to see how he did.
February 24th, 2013 at 9:29 PM
no posts deleted, just moved them around as it was a busy day and posts were often layered on top of posts.
(i should add about the previous comment: I’m a MacFarlane guy)
February 24th, 2013 at 9:31 PM
Do you know if they show encores of that? Or if they’ll have it up online or On Demand?
February 24th, 2013 at 9:43 PM
I would never ever watch, but if I see enough comments like that, I’ll check it out on the YouTube tomorrow.
February 24th, 2013 at 9:48 PM
He is doing a great job. Wife even commented on surprised she was of his singing. She doesn’t watch enough Family Guy, I knew he had the chops.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:13 PM
Mcfarlane is doing well. So much better than Franco/Hathaway two years ago
February 24th, 2013 at 10:13 PM
Seth has a music album out
February 24th, 2013 at 10:26 PM
why do people hate Anne Hathaway again?
I know very little about her except she’s smart and Havoc was probably her best role and she’s frequently naked in Love and Other Drugs.
i dont know what she stands for, nor do i care.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:33 PM
She’s great. She is just annoying when accepting awards. The taylor swift syndrome of “Me, really” when she is one of the most popular people out there and everyone has been talking about her winning
February 24th, 2013 at 10:42 PM
Seth is doing great.
They’re gone!
February 24th, 2013 at 10:44 PM
That part was awesome.

I’ve seen people hating her and I don’t get that. I think it is more that people can’t believe how stupid she was when she got swindled by that Italian guy she dated five or so years ago. I don’t find her attractive. Not a paper pale skin guy. She seems to be the type of actress that can only act and probably can’t tie her own shoes. Reminds me of the Phd’s I work with. Brilliant at their job. Can’t tell the difference between the keys to their car and house.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:48 PM
Kristen stewart looks like she just rolled out of bed on a coke binge
February 24th, 2013 at 10:49 PM
That’s what I get from her too. Just not a fan.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:49 PM
This..but keep whipping out those breasts in more movies, please
February 24th, 2013 at 10:50 PM
She probably did.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:51 PM
And I don’t know if she is actually a brilliant actress. I can’t recall a movie that I’ve seen her in. She is just always around these award shows every year, so a bunch of people must think that.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:52 PM
Stewart got the razzie for worst actress for that twilight movie..which won worst movie at the razzies. She is such a shitty actress.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:52 PM
I’m going to borrow this statement for the next rest of my life.

Holy shit. I just turned this on ten minutes ago and I got Tarantino in full coked out mode. Tie tie askewed, um, untied. Bizarre 100 yard stare. It was awesome.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:54 PM
She thinks biting her lower lip is emoting.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:55 PM
Hathaway was good in Les Mis, Havoc, The Princess Diaries, the dark knight rises, and The Devil Wears Prada. She’s been in some shit movies but she normally does a really good job.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:55 PM
That doesn’t sound unusual for Tarantino though.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:55 PM
chicks hate anne cause they are haters and haters are gonna hate
February 24th, 2013 at 10:57 PM
I’m going to borrow this statement for the next rest of my life.
My first job out of college was working as research assistant for a PhD who studied stroke rehabilitation strategies. She was world famous in that field and traveled the globe giving talks at conferences. There was many more than one time I was sent to the local Walgreens to buy reading glasses for her because she misplaced hers. A bunch of the other RAs and I just bought five or so at a time so we didn’t have to leave work to buy a pair when she lost another pair. And she isn’t even one of my boss PhDs that spurred the car key/house key line.
February 24th, 2013 at 10:58 PM
Quentin Tarantino Coke Wizard.

A great looking plate of food does more for me than Kristen Stewart
February 24th, 2013 at 10:59 PM
The Devil Wears Prada.
I saw the one with my wife. That wasn’t horrible. The lesbian office mate was horrible. Although, much hotter.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:00 PM
That’s funny, and reminds me of my boss. Sucks having to call someone you think is borderline retarded when it comes to anything other than work procedure your superior.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:02 PM
Hey Streisand, you’re boring. Cant believe people pay hundreds of dollars to go to her concerts
February 24th, 2013 at 11:03 PM
Where’s SROD when i need him? I need his old man opinion on streisand.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:04 PM
And Walking Dead’s ending was so lame. How am I supposed to believe that the ultra-Christian white farmgirl has ever heard of Tom Waits much less sing his song? At least Andrea’s naked body makes up for her busted up face.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:05 PM
Where’s SROD when i need him? I need his old man opinion on streisand
Old people love her. I don’t even think SROD’s parents liked her. Her son in law liked beating up on Diane Lane, so just another reason to hate her.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:06 PM
Sounds like someone had to tell her twice to get unrobed.
/2 black eyes you see?
February 24th, 2013 at 11:06 PM
Or by busted up face do you just mean fuckin’ ugly?
February 24th, 2013 at 11:08 PM
i have a very very very liberal facebook friend. i swear she’s making a list of every offensive thing seth is saying and popping off on facebook.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:09 PM
Hey KCRes, there was a V4L sighting this weekend. I spit out my water when i saw her comment
February 24th, 2013 at 11:09 PM
Which is funny because Seth himself describes himself as a superliberal.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:10 PM
Why is she mad at seth? Last i knew, he was liberal too. Maybe your friend is just a cunt
February 24th, 2013 at 11:12 PM
Rene Zellweger looks bombed out of her mind.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:13 PM
Do you squint when bombed?
February 24th, 2013 at 11:19 PM
Hey KCRes, there was a V4L sighting this weekend. I spit out my water when i saw her comment
What was it? I haven’t seen her around her forever.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:21 PM
She said that its good to see this place is still a laugh riot..in some post where we were commenting on a woman
/what else is new
February 24th, 2013 at 11:24 PM
Why did they start this show at 830? Could have started at 8 and been done by 1130. Not sure why the channel listing said from 830-1130. Definitely going to midnight
February 24th, 2013 at 11:28 PM
They also could have shortened the show opening
February 24th, 2013 at 11:30 PM
She probably just has really sensitive eyes.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:30 PM
And if anyone hasnt seen Skyfall, you must see it
February 24th, 2013 at 11:34 PM
AP, just wached Skyfall with my boy this afternoon with OnDemand. Excellent movie, little longer than expected, but some great visual scenes. Craig was badass. the Bond girl died too soon.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:36 PM
I liked it because it really showed the aging of Bond and how things have changed. Wasnt too sad about the bond girl. I didnt think she was great. javier bardem made that movie. So damn good
February 24th, 2013 at 11:38 PM
My wife’s high school friend on FB who has a govt job was just bitching about his John Wilkes booth gag. I thought was very funny and very Family Guy. What ya expect? High brow stuff? Fock these people.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:39 PM
ANyone who is offended by the JWB joke is just stupid.
February 24th, 2013 at 11:40 PM
Yeah, good points. With Javier Bardem, when they captured James on the yacht, my boy was like “what’s he doing to touching Bond like that?” I said, he’s suppose to come across as a wildcard, just someone who plays both sides. Wtf am I gonna say? Lol
February 24th, 2013 at 11:54 PM
bangs is taped, right? no way she’s live
February 25th, 2013 at 12:01 AM
I dont know..but jennifer lawrence can trip into me any day of the week
February 25th, 2013 at 12:13 AM
During that telecast I got most excited when Walter White appeared on stage. Shows the disparity now between television and movies.
February 25th, 2013 at 1:36 AM
For fucks sake, now I gotta listen to righties lose their shit over this tomorrow. And even worse, I’ll be agreeing with them. FUCK.
Good win for Argo, though…
February 25th, 2013 at 6:57 AM
In her prime, she was a legendary talent. I wasn’t a fan, but I give her credit. My mom thought she was alright, but preferred Aretha Franklin.
Example: in ’79, Streisand and Donna Summer did a duet called “No More Tears”. Summer was considered a pretty good singer in her own right, but Streisand on that track sung rings around Summer.
