Nick Saban Once Yanked a Kid’s Scholarship Because He Tweeted 32,000 Times [Update: Or He Didn't]

Nick Saban spoke at a Nike football camp in Louisville this week. A high school coach was there taking notes. One of the notes concerned a recruit using Twitter. From Coach Bird’s blog:

Retracted a scholarship from a player who had 32,000 tweets between signing day and first day of camp. How much was he thinking about football? He was obviously in it for the wrong reasons.

I have tweeted 46,000 times in about 4 years. I sometimes wonder if I’m in it for the wrong reasons. [via @mengus22]

UPDATE: In the two minutes since this post went up, that entire post was pulled and now this is on the front page:

After reviewing notes again, Saban used tweeting kid as an example of someone who was not in football for the right reasons. I do not know if the scholarship was pulled or not. The notes from the Saban Louisville Clinic have been taken down until corrections can be made.

Oh well. This is what used to be a great story. Let’s just pretend.

Flying to SC tomorrow. Looking for a movie to rent; haven’t been or seen one in years- I have 3 kids. I was told Argo but if I have one movie, it doesn’t appeal. I don’t care if I’ve seen it 50 times, I just need a movie.

Or a book. Was considering David McCullogh’s The Bridge but how good can a book about a bridge be?

I’m such a non-movie guy that The Waterboy was the last movie I watched in a theater.

I try to go every year on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Movie theater is about the only thing open those days, and they usually put out decent stuff around then. Saw the new Bond this Thanksgiving and Hobbit for the other.

It’s like any other cult film. I don’t find it overrated, I loved it, but know that those that are similar to Troy Duffy (the writer/director) as a person will swear on it like the bible.

/I even like Boondock Saints II, you just have to take the over-the-top moments as comically ridiculous, which I guess not many did.

Fair points, sir. I guess I was just told how amazing it was going to be and was just completely unimpressed. That said, you’re right as far as cult films go.
