Fenerbahce Fans Were Banned From Europa League Match, Did Not Stop Them Going Nuts With Flares
Turkish soccer fans can be pretty crazy. Istanbul-based Fenerbache beat BATE Borisov 1-0, advancing to the Round of 16 in the Europa League. Fans were banned from the stadium, as punishment for throwing projectiles on the field during a December match against Borussia Moenchengladbach. That did not stop thousands of them from making their presence felt, with flares.

i bet that looked awesome in person. one of the coolest things i’ve seen was champaign’s assembly hall in the dark just before the grand march of wrestling finalists (olympic theme, spotlight on the pairings and their coaches)
glow tubes had been handed out to the crowd and they were being waved and tossed. very cool
