Gregg Popovich Cursed Out Dwight Howard at the All-Star Game, and Three Days Later, Howard Was Dominant in a Win Over Boston
Gregg Popovich cursed out Dwight Howard at the All-Star game Sunday – if you believe ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith – for doing what Howard does best: socializing and not paying attention.
That was at least the second time over the weekend Howard was clowning around and pissed someone off (the other was Kobe, of course).
Perhaps Howard got it all out of his system in Houston? Or Pop F-bombing him was the trigger he needed to clean up his act and stop farting all over the place?
Howard’s first game after the break: 24 points (10-of-13 FGs), 12 rebounds, just enough defense to frustrate Kevin Garnett, and the Lakers thumped the Celtics, 113-99.

I don’t think Pop was happy to be at the ASG. During the intros, he looked like a guy heading to a prostate exam.
Given that, Dwight should’ve had paid attention to the “do not mess” sign on Pop’s face. Situational awareness, dude.

What is this, Little League?

Perhaps. Or he just goes back to his usual lack of effort when the Lakers are on the road and local tv.

Zero chance. At least today. They aren’t moving Howard in-season. It’s not happening.

Sign and trades are super lucrative in the off season. Especially if you are trading to the Lakers.

Ya know, Vez, the more I hear about Howard, the more disappointed I get. All the physical talent in the world, but completely clueless. He could own LA if he got a clue.
Even with his injuries, there’s a way to go about one’s business. “Shut up, suck it up, drive on”.

Dwight Howard is the worst.

I have to say that the Howard experience has been less than I imagined. I still think people are underrating him because its obvious that he isn’t close to 100%, but his attitude has been irking the shit out of me. Jimmy Buss definitely didn’t think deep enough about the coaching hire, because its obvious that Howard needs a PJ or Pop to get the best out of him.

Either that or it is the fact the trade line is approaching and wants out or maybe it was Mitch Kupchak stating “he is the Laker future and will have his number on the wall and a statue in front of the Staples Center.”

He’s had yes-men kissing his ass for so long that he is completely oblivious to the fact that he lacks charm, wit, or a decent personality.

Yep. Howeva, those type of coaches are so rare.
IMO, the league needs the Lakers to be good every year, even if only to have a villain to root against. I definitely don’t want to see the Lakers become irrelevant.

I think he wants to be coached, but the limelight calls him much harder.
Thibs would straighten him out, but he will go to Brooklyn and finally flame out.

i think he was pissed when Dwight shot the 3 and then did the “blowing the smoke from his gun” bit. No?

So he is Shaq? Honestly, ass kissing journalists laughing at Shaq’s “jokes” is directly responsible for Inside the NBA being 15% less awesome this year.

When they interviewed Howard on the bench during the ASG, it was cringe-worthy, sad, and embarrassing. He owes Blake Griffin a massive thank you for saving him by funnily imitating everything Howard was doing.

Pop is the best. If he ever wrote a book, I would read the shit out of it.
